Hi
It is sgs2 can root. what type of os is best for s2. Are this root can increase more perfomance for s2.

Thank u
*
just because i dont have anything better to do while waiting to watch Transformer, i'll just answer you..

Yes, SGS II can be rooted using many methods, from the easiest, to the hardest..

There is no different type of OS from what i know. SGS II is using Android alone. If i may correct your question, you'd want to ask about the ROMS. Yes, there's many ROMS for SGS II, and to answer your question, there is no good answer in particular. If you're a new Android user, try to understand about Litening ROM, then proceed with others until you found which is the best and suits your needs.

A rooted SGS II do helps in increasing the UI performance.. but it's very unlikely one can feel the differences unless you actually understand what you do.

p/s: Hapyy playing with your SGS II, and please read the FAQS provided!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're not outdated. You're running the latest official firmware for South East Asia. Your baseband and build info is correct, only your kernel is outdated (XWKE7 is UK latest official firmware). You can flash to CF-Root XWKF1 Kernel.

Yes you need to wipe if planning to move in or out from Villain.

Oh . .coz I thought there might be some "KE" version of baseband and build number too . . based on your comment, I presumed it is ok to maintain "KE" version for kernel and "KF" version for baseband and build number . . latest kernel would be "JPKF3" ya? thanks hehe

could be those who pre-ordered their SGS2...
same case like mine, i went to 1U Converged Solutions(SEP) they told me no stock, but i say there are ppl buying already and they told me those are for pre-orders customers...
so in the end i pay RM100 down payment for pre-order... smile.gif

Guys, i have been reading and watching all the tutorials available on youtube about flashing to litening rom. but i have a few questions.
1. Before flashing the rom, i need to update to chainfire KF1 kernel first by going into the download mode from the phone
2. To flash with litening rom, u need enter the debug mode by pressing volume up + home + power button. Then using Odin start the flashing using the 2++MB litening tar file. is rhis correct?
3. Can i directly start with item #2 because i already rotot my kernel uaing supercurio?

Hope to get some advice from sifus... really interested in doing funny stuff to this phone smile.gif

But they told me Maxis don't allow for pre-order or booking leh, that's why i was so frustrating about it, I really have no idea what the hell is maxis trying to do at the moment.

It does not matter much in Samsung phone. Can mix and match but it is better to use the latest kernel or at least the same release with firmware. JPKF3 is the latest in the collection but it is for middle east region. If you love to use arabic language and keyboard then it is ok. nod.gif

You can just flash the Litening ROM directly using ODIN. No prerequisites. That's what I did. =)

Before I installed Lite'ning ROM, I already have my phone rooted with CF-4 KF1.
I think it should be to safe skip to Step 2 (just follow the steps in xda on how to flash Lite'ning) and you'll have Lite'ning ROM installed in no time.
This is from my experience though. Do it at your own risk.
