Uncle Benny:
i am going to try rooting my phone using the simplest supercurio. the first 2 steps are cool smile.gif. but is this a 3rd step?

ROOTING :
Install an “insecure” modded kernel. This is a kernel that does NOT include the tools you need for Superuser, but it DOES give you root shell access, so you can install these manually.

where should i found the insecure modded kernel to install?? or this is just an explaination? the rest of the steps are understanable and seem easy to follow smile.gif. Thanks for your guidance and patience smile.gif

tegrak another step up with undervolting function. you can just setcpu by itself

Manx: supercurio itself is a modded insecure kernel.  you just flash it using Odin as PDA

Use ROOT explorer. There's a button to toggle mount r/w up near the notti bar.

thanks, btw, any other free app can do this?

You can do with Super Manager. In the Settings, tick "Enable Root function" and select busybox file to default path. Then, in the File Manager it will ask for the access type. If not, just press menu and select Switch to RW

Copy using Super Manager. Back space until you see / empty at the top. Scroll down until you see system folder. Enter and find for app folder. Enter and paste.

As for the R/W, right after you enter system folder, it will prompt you if you want to R/W it.

Hope this helps.

Guys, i have been reading and watching all the tutorials available on youtube about flashing to litening rom. but i have a few questions.
1. Before flashing the rom, i need to update to chainfire KF1 kernel first by going into the download mode from the phone
2. To flash with litening rom, u need enter the debug mode by pressing volume up + home + power button. Then using Odin start the flashing using the 2++MB litening tar file. is rhis correct?
3. Can i directly start with item #2 because i already rotot my kernel uaing supercurio?

Hope to get some advice from sifus... really interested in doing funny stuff to this phone smile.gif

You can just flash the Litening ROM directly using ODIN. No prerequisites. That's what I did. =)

Just get the phone in download mode and load the rom file in odin.. thats it?

i watch the MobileTechVideos demo on flashing the Litening rom (was inspired with the theme and also the horizontal home screen). he did mention to update the kernel to CF acording to the phone baseband... anyway, i have read through but couldnt fully digest the machine language thingy smile.gif
Hope my attempt to be a successful one. Thanks everybody smile.gif

Restart the flashing process again. You phone is not flashing anything. There is no status update above the COM11. Change to another USB port.
