Hi. I had just gotten the C3 with kit lens a day ago. Coming from a dSLR user for 7 years, it seems rather complicated to use the C3. I wish to ask a few questions. I did go through the manual though.

1. C3’s ISO is one stop (200, 400, 800 etc) but when I shoot in Av mode, the ISO sometimes is 500, 1000 etc. How can this be? And can I set it to 1/3 stop?
2. How can I set the ISO range in Auto ISO? Meaning that maybe I’d want the ISO to go up until 800.
3. Can I set the screen to display the ISO that it chose when shooting?
4. How can I disable autofocus when I am not pressing the half press button? The camera seems to focus on its own.

Thanks smile.gif

In AF mode, there is two option.

AF-S, AF-C

AS-S - Single focus
AS-C - Continuous Focus

Bro, I am already in AF-S...

Sorry if you misunderstood me. ANd I know what is AF-S and AF-C, having owned dSLRs for the past 7 years smile.gif Just that I don't really know how the Sony NEX c3 operates.

I am about to get the RM30 GGS 2nd generation stick on type from one of the seller in LYN.
How is this compare to the GGS 2nd generation which is the Stick on type?
will the dust go in between the clip on type? But the stick on type seems will collect dust at the edge like the normal film type protector.

I think this is must for any of this 2 type. much better than the Sony one.

IS that a valid complaint? Basically Nex only decides the ISO at the moment it starts to capture the image, so logically it can't tell you exactly, until itself has decided what ISO value to use. maybe at that moment, if the subject is suddenly moves then probably it will instantly turn up the iso value.

It's simple, if you don't want autofocus, then just select MF Manualfocus on the AF/MF Select option. I recommend turning on the peaking color as it helps me alot.

Of course once you select AF Autofocus the camera will always try to autofocus on the subjects. The difference on the Autofocus mode is this:
- With Single shot AF (AF-S), it will lock focus once you 1/2 press the shutter button. The focus will remain in that area as long as you keep your fingers still 1/2 pressing the shutter button; even if you move the object around.

- With Continuous AF (AF-C), it will assume you are trying to focus on a moving object. So With the 1/2 press of the shutter button, it will always try to keep the moving object in focus. Like if you try to wave a pencil infront of the camera, then you can see how NEX is able to move the focus to follow your pencil.

It would be more confusing if you select autofocus and it doesn't.. autofocus.
