Hi. I had just gotten the C3 with kit lens a day ago. Coming from a dSLR user for 7 years, it seems rather complicated to use the C3. I wish to ask a few questions. I did go through the manual though.

1. C3’s ISO is one stop (200, 400, 800 etc) but when I shoot in Av mode, the ISO sometimes is 500, 1000 etc. How can this be? And can I set it to 1/3 stop?
2. How can I set the ISO range in Auto ISO? Meaning that maybe I’d want the ISO to go up until 800.
3. Can I set the screen to display the ISO that it chose when shooting?
4. How can I disable autofocus when I am not pressing the half press button? The camera seems to focus on its own.

I am already in Single Shot AF, and yet the camera still AF by itself...why is that?

So any sifu here know of a solution to our problem? I wish to prolong my battery life (and my lens life too).

Sorry if you misunderstood me. ANd I know what is AF-S and AF-C, having owned dSLRs for the past 7 years Just that I don't really know how the Sony NEX c3 operates.

Thanks for the replies. I understand what a half press means, and the differences between AF-S and AF-C. As I said, I myself have been using dSLRs for the past 7 years.

My thing is, the AF still focus eventhough I didnt half press. Well, like Sniper said, its because of the Contrast Detection AutoFocus thingy in the NEX and PnS cameras. So I'll take it this way and I learnt something new this way too.

I just got the C3 last Thursday. Coming from a dSLR user though. Trying to live with its limitations.

1. No AE Lock. So cannot really lock when in Spot Metering.
2. ISO cannot set range. Auto ISO is 200-1600. Cannot set like 200-800 etc.
3. ISO 1/3 stop only work in Auto ISO. Sometimes I get ISO 1250, 1000, 500 etc. I wish I can set it manually in 1/3 stop.
4. Shutter sound damn loud, same like a dSLR.
5. Wish got more buttons and controls.

Apart from that, I dont have complain, just the C3 grip abit...errr...small. Regret, should have gotten the Nex 5 instead.

I just got a NEX C3. Can I register online at a later time? For warranty purposes.

Since my receipt had stated my purchase date, will it be all right to register later?

Sorry, I should have said that cannot AE Lock first, then AF.

The NEX 5n should have been what the C3 is, I am sure many people who bought the C3 are disappointed. Or Sony should have release the C3 together with the 5n to let people choose between both when they want to purchase it, like the Nex 3 and 5 simultaneously.

I hope some of the features can be made available on the C3, minus the touch screen of cos...

I got it for RM1900... need to survey next time.

I got it from LowYat Ground floor, its not a camera shop but rather an electric shop selling LCD TVs etc. Freebies? From Sony (bag and SD Card). Managed to squeeze a 3 inch 3rd party LCD Protector, but doesn't fit the NEX screen fully so I didn't install.
