Bro Landy, youre spot on. The rear lights are not the same as in brochure. It is call rear fog light. It is too bright n will be a nuisance the car following behind. I demanded naza to change it. Lets see how it goes.

Pps, i havent done yet. Will do Sierra Glow. Highly recommended by forummers. It cost RM700 for our K5
*
Hi Bro, you have a nice ride ! will get my K5 soon. I'm planning to have some exterior mods but are these mod void KIA warranty ? I'll probably change the rim, rear light and slight mod in head lamp...

How much of the courier cost from Sharkracing.com? any news of KIA original GPS navigator? My SA told me KIA is going to bring in some accessories.

That looks nice man. Do they connect the socket to the DRL?
Anyone planning to get it..
Yeah, I wish to install this into my K5, planning to get it but who can install for us??! or DIY ? group buy ? hahaha... biggrin.gif

QUOTE(K5WHITE @ Mar 20 2012, 02:05 PM)
i saw this product before, and went back and boot-up to check and see the headlight if there is socket ready over there..interested to get the yellow 4-rectangular light...

u now how it is installed? and how much? can mod ownself?
*
If not mistaken, is about USD60-80.

Read from China's Kia forums, can be DIY or install by accessories shop but I wonder our local accessories shop capable or not. Do you know any accessories shop has done K5 mod?

I AM IN if there is a bulk purchase. Loving it ~!
Guys, This lights cost about USD120 in Ebay, please check this site,

I'm waiting their reply about the shipment costing if I just want to order 1 piece of this. Please share if someone know an accessories shop can install this to us.

This morning I saw an Optima. Couldnt help myself from turning my head. If there's no KIA emblem I'd think it's a jaguar. The emblem is real ugly though...
*
Sorry to say that, the emblem is not ugly, the problem is your mindset. We are car lovers but not brand slave. If proton can produce a quality car, i don't mind to give them a chance!

My previous car is Toyota Camry, but it has been stolen end of 2011. No doubt, for some peoples camry is a best choice in D-Segment Car but the car is not as good as i thought! Not equal to what i have paid for. Anything wrong with us who drive a KIA? a Korean make? just because of the branding?

Wow! Camry owner jump to Kia? Thats a bold statement. How old was your Camry?
*
Hahaha.. biggrin.gif Was about 3.5 years...

I was consider a month for taking a KIA! I tested Passat, saw 508 for 3 times, Mondeo for 2 times, 2010 Mark X and 2009 IS 250 2 times... I'm planning to owe a conti car before i go to KIA Showroom but the end, I bought a Optima K5, this beast just impressed me after tested 2 times! I can share with you guys why I turned to KIA if we have opportunity to meet up, how about a K5 gathering ? rclxms.gif

Very good jump ma smile.gif

I ditched my Altis and cancelled my booking for new camry just to jump to this beauty. Pray for the best smile.gif
*
Yes bro! pray for the best! What the peoples say around you while you cancelled your new camry booking? hahaha...we just buy what we love and value for our money!

Hope u dont get me wrong. I prefer the forte logo. It's not about the mindset or branding really. Kia should create better logo. I have been yo the show room and seriously i was thinking to buy this beauty and eat maggi everyday.. lol
*
Yes, very sorry for the misunderstanding. I thought you are the people against on Korean Car!

Do you mean the "K" Design Logo? if yes, I asked my SA to change for me, but he said the emblem on the rim will peel off in the future because it is just stick on it. Front and rear emblem are fine so I decided not to change it. It's not a big deal anyway! biggrin.gif

Hi,

I m looking my first D-segment car which is below 150K. Does anyone here are lucky to have tried the 2.0 camry, accord and the k5. I m looking for a car that is enjoyable to drive and put others issues behind. Hope you can share your experience here.

Thanks.
*
Bro, go to test the cars, don't trust any other comments. I never drive accord before, but i can share to you my experience about Camry. No deny, Camry is a very comfortable car, but seriously under power with the engine and gearbox. If you intend to buy a comfortable car, go for Teana or Camry, (Teana better). If you want a better performance in D-Segment with 2.0 engine, Rm150 budget, go for K5. Volkswagon Passat is another good option, but for me, Passat consider a car between C-D Segment. Although Volkswagon price it like D-Segment Car. Spend 40k for better performance? hmm.gif

Go to test it yourself! smile.gif

passat is IN D-segment...although some might feel doubt abt it, try sitting in the car, and yeah..bigger than accord for the interior space
Really? I tested Passat and i don't really feel the spacious in the car, I have 3 persons at the rear and what they feedback to me are much smaller than Camry. Slightly larger than Altis.

My friend took me with his accord, I don't think accord has smaller interior space compare to Passat. smile.gif

Finally got my white ride in this Monday! Drove it for 3 days, impressed me with the power(compare to camry 2.0), the tech and the design!

Done Sierra Glow yesterday and Mr Choong explained a lots about how to protect the car paint to me. Recommended shop to whoever want to give your ride a coating!

The intrusive sounds from tyre / bottom when drive on rough road (caused by tyre?) is really drive me crazy. Anyone getting better after change tyres? or it is sound proof problem ?

The surface of my Gear Knob has dropped off like other owner, complaint to my SA and hope to replace it soon.

Yes, lowered to 240kPa, but still very noisy. Yes, WWN biggrin.gif

QUOTE(K5WHITE @ Mar 29 2012, 01:50 PM)
check ur tyre repssure, make sure at 240kPa, can reduce some noise

yeah..my gear knob oso dropped...the clip broken...put some glue, then okie lioaw
*
Lowered to 240kPa, but still can't endure the noise. The only thing of K5 disappointed me. Let me try few more weeks, if the noise still as loud as now, may change the tyre.

What glue? normal glue will do?

QUOTE(gregy @ Mar 29 2012, 01:52 PM)
That's why la, try not to rub the knob too hard lol... Even though it's hard to resist since the car gives you orgasmic tendencies smile.gif

Yeah bro, very hard to resist, have to hold the knob carefully. sad.gif

my only wish was they can come with 2.0T engine....but i knew that will be close to impossible, so i settle with current model..

Me too, i was keep asking 2.0T to my agent, but the answer was nearly impossible...because if they bring in, market it around 160k or above with KIA logo, he doubt this will work in Malaysia, ai.... sad.gif

Hey guys, I know some of u may find me irritating, but I'll say, may be this is a good survey for everyone..

If u r a 25yr old, single guy,  daily routine is driving car to work plus to shop etc and may be some long trip during holidays, and ur budget allows (of course with some loan too), which would u choose? optima or 508?

And, does optima comes with rear windscreen shade? which I doubt..
*
If you are only 25, and only choose between Optima and 508, go for Optima, the design suit your age. You are single, why don't go for 2 doors coupe? You are lucky, when i was 25, only civic, camry and accord to choose but you have plenty of options now. rclxms.gif

Today went to test drive k5...

Not much power. No oomp...

The exterior is too stylish....will easily outdate...
Interior not so comfort....as well

I think i cant see any reason for me to buy this car in future.
*
What car are you using? What car are you comparing with K5 in term of power? What do you expect from a 2.0 engine without turbo?? What car are you planning to buy ? camry? teana? passat? Please share your opinion or experience to us but just don't throw meaningless words here. We are open minded and we do test drive most of the cars in market before we choose K5. All of them are good in different perspective, if you think camry suit your taste, go for it ! No one can stop you but please don't talk rubbish here. Whoever bought a K5 is an idiot, bought a car with easily oudate design, sucks interior, underpower....? This is the hidden message i got from your post!

QUOTE(w111w @ Apr 4 2012, 12:35 PM)
OMG!!! Buying a car without test drive... Are u kidding? By just reading cooment by other ppl only and straigth bought k5! ... To me this is ridiculous and crazy act...

Not all ppl got the same preference in driving.....no matter how, the k5 driving feel really not up to my expectation...

Although it got good looks...but tat is not impotant coz the design will outdate soon.... The thing tat will not outdate is the engine hp and torque....

After few years, when i feel the design is boring already, i will say WTF! ! wat car is this??. no power wan....no pick up wan...n blah blah
*
What is your budget, 200k? If you want a power, don't go for 2.0 / 2.4 D-segment car... won't impress you much! go for passat, Golf GTI, 308 turbo...you are tested a wrong car and no perfect car dude... doh.gif

QUOTE(kevin23 @ Apr 4 2012, 07:05 AM)
Totally agree with u bro.People say so many people praise this car,but in real live driving, its sucks.Who are these people who praise this car? PEople who are paid by Kia and Hyundai ?

Same goes to elantra. Before launch, hype up kaokao, win duno what lousy north american best car award lah,and some other crappy award. But when come to malaysia and you actually test drive it,it is so underpowered.Even the 1.8 felt like crap. Lets not talk bout price lah, even if the elantra 1.8 was priced at 99k, i cant seem to find any reason why I should buy it.The same goes for this Optima.

They dont understand that all these awards are actually paid for by Hyundai and Kia.Thats why you see all these korean brands suddenly winning so many crappy awards. Its all part of their marketing strategy.

Just look at the Sportage,it looks so nice ,but how often u see them on the road? HARDLY! Good design will win you a few fans overnight but wont last long.Great driving charecteristics and a design that will last a long time will win you  loyalists.
*
Whoever praise korean car is paid ? You are insulting all the peoples who love car here... Please think before you post! sigh....We are buying a rubbish car... said by a brainless ....which car do you think is superpower with 2.0 engine? Don't talk to me about camry 2.0, Teana 2.0, accord 2.0 are better than K5, don't compare with a turbo car as well.

Why need facts n figures....? First driving impression is the most important...

Yeah, the spec sheet may list high hp n torque... But i dun give a shit on this...
Test drive will show everthing...

I started to feel that this thread is already monopoly by korean fanboys.....tat oso means ppl cannot say anything bad about this k5...... rclxub.gif
*
Hahaha...i believe no korean fanboy here...K5 is not a perfect car... we do know the weakness of it ! I don't like the finishing, interior is lack of premium feel...but i still owe a K5 because overall is a great car! The problem is, you are talking rubbish with your only one driving impression, ridiculous ! Drive 1 time enough to judge a car? Please go to drive other car and share with us what car is super power, impressive touque for you!

QUOTE(devil98 @ Apr 4 2012, 01:05 PM)
i gt 3 car shortlisted previously 1st is VW passat follow by new camry and K5, end up camry is out no point pay so much getting such spec sumore without VSC doh.gif

for the power, i test drive accord 2.0 and camry 2.0...if compare via K5, K5 definately better than both T&H, take note when i test drive K5 we gt 5 ppl sit inside the car. of course you cant compare via turbo engine it's totally different but i doubt turbo suitable in hot country or not...my coli 2 weeks Polo just lost power and break down..

anywhere i will gor for either passat or K5... how wish Kia can bring in K5 turbo or 2.4...  biggrin.gif
*
Bro, if you love power, passat is your choice ! I tested and very impressed!

The reason of not choose passat because i love features, gadgets personally. Passat is quite emtpy, with Touch Screen Navigator, addon 5k, total cost around 190k... not worth my extra 45k, just my 2 cents.. biggrin.gif

Anyway, please share to us if you go for K5 !

Are u plain stupid or you have a problem understanding english or are u too lazy to read previous posts?

Only a stupid person like you will come here and say Passat 1.8 gives good driving feel like you made some big discovery. We all know that u dumb fool. VW has got among the best engines and gearboxes around and WE ALL KNOW THAT!

Passat 1.8TSI has 250Nm torque which makes it more powerful than Optima for sure. Plus it comes with a world renowed 7 speed DSG gearbox while the Optima only has a 6 speed auto. WE ALL KNOW THAT!

Passat surely has better driving dynamics because its VW and WE ALL KNOW THAT!

But then Passat 1.8TSI (CKD) also costs RM27,000 more and has got less specs than the Optima. Plus it looks really dull and boring and its seat comfort is no where close to Optima's standard. WE ALL KNOW THAT!

The Teana comes with a XCVT transmission and it delivers more low range power than the Optima. The acceleration is also smoother. WE ALL KNOW THAT! But sorry, i dont wish to drive around in an uncle's car with half the specs available compared to the Optima.

Only a fool like you will evaluate cars based on 1 or 2 factors. I suppose it didnt strike you that there is no such thing as a PERFECT car. The owners here chose the Optima not because it is perfect but because it was GENERALLY the best and it gave them the most value for money for the RM143K that they are spending.

So now tell me something we DONT know. And while ure at it do tell us what's your CURRENT car.
*
bro, give you 100 likes ! rclxms.gif

He just try to be smarter than us and tell us OPTIMA is UNDER POWER, why choose OPTIMA??! hahahaha... biggrin.gif WE ALL KNOW THAT !

Yeah he thinks that we are gonna jump up and start claiming that the Optima is the most powerful car out there. Such a dumb fool. Telling us birds can fly as if he made the discovery himself.

I myself said many times that the Optima is underpowered during low range acceleration while the power kicks in only at mid range. Hence, why in normal town driving ull feel the weight of the car and your FC wont be that good. We all know that right!

I tested the Optima 8 times under various driving conditions both as driver and as a passenger. This is probably the highest number of test drives anybody has ever had as far as i know. Beats my previous record of 7 test drives in 4 states in 2003 for my Toyota Vios. And yet i get a fool like him coming here and talking as if he made some super discovery which i failed to see during my 8 test drives.  mad.gif
*
Yes! it is a bit under power during low RPM, but impressive in high RPM! Especially with paddle shift...you can change gear whenever you want... biggrin.gif

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Apr 4 2012, 04:15 PM)
Btw, seems that the new Toyota Camry is getting thrashed on Paultan. Current stats are 542 negative ratings and only 79 positive. Hope that translates into poor sales for the Camry. That would send the message across loud and clear.
*
I think the number won't reflect to sales...because uncle aunty never survey...they just love Toyota! No doubt, Camry very comfortable, better sound proof!

Even during high revs the 2.0L struggles to pull the heavier Optima compared to the Forte. In the Forte when the rpm revs past 4K rpm esp in 2nd gear you'll feel your kidneys being pushed into the seat whereas the Optima is more gentle.

And you can't change gear whenever you want with the paddle shifters... if your speed is too low the gearbox would not allow upshifts to prevent losing torque.
*
Thanks for your comments bro ! biggrin.gif I was using wrong word maybe? The "Whenever" doesn't mean we can shift gear any time but with common knowledge of changing gear. Of course you can't upshifts when the rev is too low ! hahaha... same thing, you can't simply downshifts your gear when you are in high speed.

I believe everyone should understand when is the timing to upshifts or downshifts the gear right? Sorry, i thought everyone will know that because i drive a manual car more than 10 years. My hand and leg will move automatically whenever i want to change gear... same to paddle shifter sad.gif
