Some people contradict themselves. For example, always condemn no Office apps, but WP7 comes with Office suite. What you have on Meego  whistling.gif

No idea on this part but Maemo's Document on The Go should be ported to N9.

But there are a lot of third party party office related product in repository. It won't be as perfect as Office Suite but it'll come close.

Just example only la. Saw the same thing with some iOS user.

I'm hoping that WP7 will find a way to play along with desktop Windows to a higher level. As for Meego, I don't know what to expect from it.

For iOS I found a different problem.

For Maemo lets say if I want to view my lecture notes: I connect my phone to computer copy the files & then I can open it from it's location in phone or launch the office application.
It's simple to use.

But for iOS you cannot really copy the office files directly because of the dependencies with iTunes.I think any office/pdf files need to be pushed to the device via cloud method or jailbreak the device.
This is making office application less user friendly & less useful in iOS.

Nokia N9 could run Android apps: Alien Dalvik interview

QUOTE
"Because it goes really deep into the root of the OS, it cannot be a downloadable application. It would have to be ported prior to the phone being shipped. It would have to be a decision of the mobile phone manufacturer or the network."

Just release the codes man..With or without Nokia's support someone will manage to integrate it in MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan

easy solution to help Nokia with their burning platform:
continue with Meego, give money to Myriad to perfect Alien Dalvik, preload with Android market, and done, optimized OS with spammingly lot options for apps

Myriad encourage developers of the apps to repackage .ipk to MeeGo compatible apps.
I don't think anyone can stop the application writer on what they want to do with their application.

Google Market? Amazon App Store is good enough, and it is great without all the BS of "Google Certified Device"

Nokia, partner up with Myriad, Amazon (Alongside their services such as Kindle, Mp3 etc) and there you are, a feckin ECOSYSTEM.

but they chosen Microsoft... seriously doh.gif

anyway, maybe not preloading the Android Market, but as long as it runs apk file it would be already good enough

i want see Ghz Nokia phone running android... lol

Added on June 24, 2011, 5:01 pmjokes aside, i really think nokia shouldnt have abandoned meego, it manage to make 2 years old hardware looks cutting edge on that thing... everything is just so butterly smooth..

since it's running based on linux, i read somewhere that it's easy to just have a emulator running to enable android apps to run on meego itself.. then i say that's epic win for nokia already...

rangers, shall we all give feedback say we want meego?  tongue.gif
*
It comes with 1GB RAM, and no homescreen, pretty much simplified; N900 with only 256MB RAM, if turn off Desktop, it's smooth; with some customization, it's even more smooth. With such low spec, some people have stress test it running more than 20 apps, running in background, you can see the games rendering in the Task Manager, and so on.
If this doesn't work as good, something must be wrong with them.

Not sure Epic win/credit for Nokia, or the Maemo/MeeGo team. Even N900, which can dual/triple boot Maemo/Android/MeeGo 1.2 DE, it's not a credit to Nokia. In short, many things done for Maemo and MeeGo, mostly go for the team.

Hahaha... Steve Jobs is stubborn but he dont reject MONEY...

If you are willing to pay, there's an app to settle all this... of course, this will be eliminated with iCloud which is free.

Yup, that is really saddening. I'm one of the major user of Amazon "Ecosystem", loving their mp3 store so much and see it as one of the most strong opponent to iTunes. And Amazon App Store is really great, comparable to the Google Market.

I really hope Myriad will just provide the codes freely, while leveraging onto a small fee, or even ad-supported. Trust me, I'm more than willing to pay for it laugh.gif

LOL...

Dont tell me they are comparing ARMv7 on N900 running at 600MHz with HTC Legend ARM11 600MHz and call it run as fast. Some pretty nasty marketing trick.
