Can somebody help me with my laptop, please?

My problems:

1. Laptop boots on average about 2 minutes. I did this and followed the steps, but it stopped without doing anything after 2 boots. Didn't show any information after that.

2. Laptop often lags.

3. Mozilla Firefox takes about 2 to 3 seconds to load and will go into a "Not Responding" status right after loading for about 2 seconds before it is usable.

What should I do? I'm very frustrated.  icon_question.gif

@SRLee, can you open msconfig and go to startup, disable everything then check the startup speed again?

OK after disabling everything and rebooting 3 times, my average time to boot were 45 to 50 seconds, running 65 processes.

EDIT: After a few minutes, it is now running 76 processes.

EDIT 2: Now it's running 83 processes.

Using the code provided that I input in CMD, my laptop autoboot twice then I accidentally hit "Cancel" because it was idle for a few minutes (I thought it stopped).

I expected better performance with this laptop. A lot better performance, in fact.

I would put the lack or performance to the 5400rpm hard drive. Using a 7200RPM, a hybrid SSD, or an SSD, you will notice a phenomenal increase in performance.

Nowadays, I mostly use this laptop under Intel GPU rather than ATI GPU, because if I use HD3000 the heat on the left palm rest is totally eliminate even though not under air-condition room, and the CPU temperature cools down a lot too, I get to maintain about 42C-48C under normal usage such as surf net and watch movie. I feel like the HD3000 is more than enough to handle most of the task including my work except gaming, so when I want to game just switch it back to ATI GPU.

1. Do some cleanup with ccleaner both HDD and registry.
2. Disable unuse/useless startup programs.
3. Disable pagefile. RAM >>>>>>>>> 5.4K HDD
4. Do optimize defrag with Auslogics Disk Defrag.
5. Run xbootmgr command again and wait till it finish (6 reboots).

Agreed. That is the whole point of SB's integrated graphics is for... Only use dedicated GPU when duty calls, else the intel GPU will do fine.
Even though i am 6114tx user( my lappy not yet arrive though sweat.gif )

IP problem? Does it get proper IP from router DHCP? Try to reinstall Wifi driver?

or... some ninja turn off your DHCP to use static IP and secretly help to assigned an IP to your Acer laptop but didn't know u just bought a new laptop?

I think my gf just had that problem.. easy to slow.. here is the problem that you are seeing. Sometimes restarting the laptop + router can solve the problem but then the step that i usually do is :

1. goto Start => cmd => type "ipconfig /all" => search for your mac address.. usually is xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx.
2. goto 192.168.x.x (your router home page/admin page/whatever page u want to call it)
3. then goto setup your router to bind your laptop/desktop's mac address to a specific address in the dhcp range (example 192.168.1.2 till 192.168.1.100).
4. then u goto your laptop/desktop's adapter's setting and set the ipv4 address from automatically obtain to the chosen ip address from above (example 192.168.1.2) apply and close.
5. restart modem and laptop/desktop for results.

*All the typing is without the quote
*For ipv4 only
*This solution is effective for desktop > laptop if the laptop/desktop usually connect only to your own wifi internet because when laptop connects to other wifi connection, for example at old town or starbuck, they need to obtain ip address from the router's (not your router) so you need to enable automatic obtain address again which might be very tedious to keep changing the setting.

Power saving? But i think using Intel 3000 is really cooling and the noise of the fan barely noticable.. but when load youtube, the 6770 kicks in to render smile.gif

Hey guys, I just completed the 6-set autoboot thing.

Using Bootimer, I tested my laptop twice and I got an average boot time of 25 seconds.

However, Soluto says:"Boot done in 1 minute 6 seconds."

Is this boot time average?

Other info: 81 processes | 3% CPU Usage | 24% RAM Usage

Now I'm wondering how do I test the speed of my laptop? Is it doable? smile.gif
