Cancelled my uob one plat visa (cheapo plat with 19k limit) card last week.

fark them, wanna me to swipe at least 36 times per year and minimum 3k per year to waive their annual fee. service tax rm50 is compulsory.

this kind of service and cr card in times like this is no longer accepted.

GST waiver should not be a problem for new UOB One Plat.

For your cancellation, high chance an UOB officer will call you soon offering a GST waiver. This what happened to my wife Lady's Card Plat.

like ben83 mentioned, UOB like that, cancel the card then only they offer. Two years back when I asked got offer for GST waiver, the CS said NO, so go cancel my UOB Plat MC at Branch. Then later someone called me to offer some GST waiver, but I said no thanks.

But just to let you guys know, last week I called UOB on my normal Plat Visa GST and was told no offers to waived it, so used my points to offset GST. Then over dinner 2 nights ago, I found out that UOB sent a sms to a "PB valued" customer, prior to the card anniversary date, stating that he only needs to swipe ONE time any amount in that month! I did not get that sms for my normal Plat, therefore I guess I am not a valued customer mad.gif So I called UOB and the CS said normal Plat no such offer in the system vmad.gif Now I have to wait next year to see they offer me the same 1 swipe to offset GST for my other UOB PB cards.

LOL! At least they are willing to absorb the GST for their Privilege Banking customers. HSBC will always give you a firm "no" whenever you try to get them to waive the GST for you even if you're a Premier Banking customer doh.gif

yeah, you're right, it is a cheapo plat since one only need to earn RM36K to qualify for it, haha. But I think you got it wrong, swipe 12 times and spend minimum RM3K, but I don't know why you're complaining since it was clearly mentioned in their website.
*
It's a con job, really.

when I apply time, just need to swipe 12 times a year, no min amount per year.
that time carrefour oso offer 4% cash rebate. (that is the main reason I apply).

you all can try using it in genki sushi.
Uob got the worst discount amongst all others.
use genki sushi card better.
bhp use their own discount card better.

i cut my card in halves and submit to cancel with a cancellation letter.
I dare the officer to call me.
sure kena kaw kaw from me.

Received similar SMS just a few days before I wanted to cancel my Prefered Platinum card. So with the GST and annual fees waived I decided to keep this card for free access to the Premium Lounge. UOB is rather generous considering that I only swiped twice for the year with total amount of < rm500 that also to waive off previous year's GST and annual fee. And there is a 5 year annual fee waiver without any condition attached.

you must understand, many people here have more than 1 credit cards (like OCBC TMC and MBB 2) so it doesn't really matter if we get the UOB One Card or not. However, for those who do not earn more than RM30K p.a., this card gives them the opportunity to earn 5% cash back for petrol and groceries. Also many failed to realized that UOB is a Singapore Bank and therefore they kiasu (stringent processing of applications), hahaha. But being kiasu is good too because it makes our deposit with them safe too smile.gif

Once again, click here to read my article on UOB One Card. In this article I have prepared a table comparing the cash back between OCBC Titanium MasterCard vs Maybankard 2 Amex vs Citibank Cash Back vs UOB One Card.

I pumped twice at BHP through their pump and confirm it doesn't state the $martcash amount. Or maybe as mentioned we have to do it through their counter?

next time you go Singapore, if the merchant offering discount to UOB cardholders, just show them your card and you may just be offered the same discount. Last year, at Sommerset 313 they giving cash voucher to UOB card members who spend above certain amount. Well I got the voucher with my Malaysia issued UOB Plat card. This year at the same mall, it was for OCBC card, and once again I got the cash voucher with my Malaysian issued Titanium MasterCard.
