guys, any card holder of uob one card received call from uob sales ppl offering some sorta protection plan ? sounds worth buying it , just pay an amount of RM65.00 monthly , lets say you get into an accident and being hospitalized for few days, the uob bank will compensate you with an agreed amount as specified in the Policy, and a lot more benefits .
*
yes, i received that call few months back, forgot how much is it. i remembered that the plan allows you to double claim using photostat copy, original copy is not necessary. i think it includes travel insurance as well

Did anyone receive UOB's income declaration form?

My annual income is less than 36K and have only 1 CC, so it's not a problem. However, there is a field "I hereby declare that I currently hold credit card (s) from <insert number card issuer (s)". What is UOB's issue number?
*
means you fill in 1 in that column, you only hold credit card from 1 issuer in Malaysia which is UOB

i also received it last week

1. Do u have to be such a grammar nazi? Waive or offset or rebate or whatever word u like to use, any LAYMEN can understand what I'm asking, which was

"Now UOB got give any BENEFIT so that cardholder need not pay/bear the GST?"

2. I'm an accountant, I know better than u what is "audit"
*
It is such a shame to the Accounting industry that people like you cannot even understand what constitute rules and marketing gimmick.

RM50 is a must pay to gov under the act, we knew it. that's why you will see RM50 GST being charged to your cc account.

Cash rebate offered to customers to offset GST or as welcome/loyalty bonus are marketing gimmicks to attract/retain customers.

GST and cash rebates are 2 separate issues even though some agents linked them together to promote sales but banks don't explain it that way. If you are still not satisfied on how banks handle the GST matter, you can always report them to BNM since BNM existed for a reason.

hi anyone got experience canceling the card? call customer service will do?

i want to cancel before 2013, so dont need to pay the rm50 government tax.

got my other CC approved.
*
just call and tell them that you want to cancel it. sometimes the customer service will ask why, some may not. if you are a loyal customer, their marketing staff will call you later to inquire why you cancel it. they may provide you the RM50 rebate to cover the gst so that you will continue to hold their cc

It is my second month bill. I expect it will automatically rebate the GST RM50 in the bill but no. When I signed up, they said normally the second bill. Or I should wait for the third bill before calling up?
*
have you met the minimum spending requirement? such as spend 3 transactions within 45 days or minimum of RM80. if you don't see it in the 3rd statement, you can probably shoot them

When you tell the bank that you want to cancel the card, they will waive the annual fee automatically, no need to worry bout annual fee at all

Call the bank to cancel it, they are very likely to call you back in few weeks time to give you RM50 rebate with min spend of RM80 in 45 days.

I tried and it worked, it worked for my friends too provided you have good payment record

Hi! Does anyone here knows when can we cancel UOB credit card? i.e. is there a min required period after activating the card?

I've just gotten the UOB One Plat Card today.. I've activated it and just realise if I want the RM168 annual fee to be waived, I have to spend RM36k per year!

So will the annual fee still be imposed if I cancel my card before 1 year? Any other penalties?

Tried calling the customer service and the computer operator said someone will get back to me later.
*
don't believe those t & c, the moment you tell them you want to cancel your card, they will offer you this and that such as 3 transactions within 45 days to offset gst, 5 years annual fee waiver to make you stay with UOB. been there, done that. it works every year for me

Ohh. So they can actually waive the annual fee if you tell them you wanna cancel the card? It's my first cc so not quite sure how it works.. But the main point is, I don't wanna pay the annual fee of RM168.  tongue.gif
*
i have been using their UOB One Card Classic for few years, never paid any annual fee. just tell them to waive it else cancel immediately, usually their marketing team will call you to discuss and offer you the waiver

If you convert your purchase to epp after you bought it from merchant, lets say 12 months, you are bound to this card for 12 months, you cant cancel it unless you want to settle your epp earlier which is subject to RM50 admin charge.

In other words, you definitely need to fork out RM50 to pay gst which actually can be offset upon request. When you calculate the cost of converting into epp, please take this into consideration

There is no extra charge for installment made? if involved to 12 months installment, I also can use this card for other purchases until the credit limit is reach, right?

This is only offer for UOB credit card for 0% installment after purchased or other cc also can do that? Because i have made installment before, they are able covert to EPP when purchasing, but not AFTER convert to EPP.
*
Zero percent interest instalment plan are usually available at participating merchants, usually only on certain banks, if you dont have that bank's cc then no zero percent instalment plan for you. If merchant does not provide instalment plan, then you can call banks to inquire bout epp after making a purchase, however not all banks have such epp plan.

Uob has such epp plan but they will incur up front charges, maybe 2% depends on the length of the epp. I feel that it is not worth it unless you are really running out of cash.

Usually the full amount of the purchase transaction will be locked upon enrolment to instalment plan or epp and amount will be reduced when you settle your monthly outstanding
