yes.. i think the promotion/campaign to switch over to digital has not really caught on to majority of malaysians. probably most folks already got astro?

Now MYTV targets viewers from those rural and highly rural, kampung areas where those uncle aunties are not familiar/don't know how to migrate to digital TV.
You guys realise that the new ASO date are announced mainly in Malay, and not at least bilingual with English, or multilingual including Chinese and Tamil?
Can roughly guess their targeted audience are. No offence guys, but apparently majority of those still stuck on analogue TV broadcasts, are mostly Malays that stays in rural areas?
When ask why only Malay language are used to publish such major announcement, then those people said things like "Malay is national language", "better stay in other country" those nonsense come out.

Anyway, I don't think the urban ones is their utmost priority cuz many are either no longer watching terrestrial TV at all, but enjoy entertainment at other platforms, or already well knowledge on digital TV.

It is expected after they'll give some interval/cool off period after ASO has done, then only restack DTT channels to within 470-690MHz range, to make sure viewers would lose their signal overnight.
And they got to consider those who uses DTT boxes that doesn't support auto channel updates, where user have to manually perform "Auto Search" or Manual Search.
Still remember months ago where all RTM channels suddenly "disappear" without notice? This MYTV leh, moved to new frequency also keep quiet like a mouse... Until ppl make noise then only advise viewers to perform Auto Search. If still can't get signal, then continue Auto Search again and again until you receive it. I was like, WTF???

Singapore is waiting both Malaysia and Indonesia to shut down analogue. Yet, both Malaysia and Indonesia has been interfering each other's TV signals now.
I really don't know what they're thinking... Just shut it down and don't delay anymore

The current digital signal, some channels are in SD and some in HD. Will all the channels be broadcast in HD eventually?

turned on the TV yesterday afternoon, and was shocked that TV1 was airing Blue Planet II...on a weekday afternoon when literally no one would be watching it

the 1080i video quality was quite good though, although obviously cannot compare to disc or streaming services

just wondering why a great programme like Blue Planet II is stuck on a weekday afternoon...

That depends on the broadcaster, RTM and Media Prima and others.
MYTV has no problem doing that, as long broadcasters willing to pay more money to them cuz HD quality requires more bandwidth.

Because all HD channels from myFreeview (digital TV) uses the video bitrate of barely 3Mbps, visual artifacts becomes very obvious in fast motion scenes, which is quite displeasing to see...

It looks terrible I know. And that's not because the JPEG quality is low/poor.

And, a scrolling ticker appears during the programme...
Other programme never mind, but documentary shows like Blue Planet, oh my, so annoying!


Well, it's a national television anyway. That's what you got for something free. Still good to see that RTM channels are trying their best to air great programmes like this.
And yeap, only Malay subtitles available (subtitles can be turned on/off).

just think it's sad it's being aired between 1:30pm-2:30pm... adults are working, and half the kids are in school

I remember when I was a kid TV1 aired National Geographic content at 7pm, which was a decent enough time to catch the attention of the youth

if one already has Astro or NJOI, there really isn't a reason to bother with myFreeview. All the channels are available in either of those two platforms anyway.

literally no one in my family or my in-laws are bothered with it, thanks to Astro.

Just asking, myfreeview sometime the audio does not sync with video. Is it just me?

in my case i stop astro & go for njoi & mytv coz no time to watch too many channels (money wasted)

both official & non official one can get from lazada, or buy idtv instead
