you pay for what you get, it's always true,

but then I want to pay more for better speed, the problem is my place dont even have 2mbps

and dont even think about unifi to come

Problem symptons:
-hits more than 1mbps speed at download start, then goes down to 1.0mbps in few seconds
-it still able to hit more than 1.0mbps speed, but not all the time
-users who used to have 1.3mbps or faster before, their dsl line rates still remain the same
-users who used to have 1.3mbps or faster before, when downloading at 1.0mbps(100-120kb/s), latency still maintain at low ping without lag spikes
-users who are always capped at 0.9-1.0mbps, still has their usual speed, but latency high when downloading at 1.0mbps(100-120kb/s), and will never go faster than 1.0mbps

it seems the current "1.0mbps cap" problem, isn't a hard cap, speed limiting at 100-120kb/s but not completely limited, because when you hit at 100-120kb/s your line still able maintain at low pings without lag spikes

if it was hard cap (completely limits you at 1mbps) you wont be able to go more than 1mbps speed, if you hit 100-120kb/s, thats your maximum and you gets high pings

put it simple, if your 1mbps was 1.3mbps or faster than that, the "new 1mbps cap" just like controls you only able to use 1.0mbps speed but still reserve the extra speed 0.3mbps or faster

ya...that't the only downside of unifi is the quota
*
i dont know if this is true but if use VPN on unifi, i will not get quota at all n i will download like a fcking crazy maniac 24/7 laugh.gif brows.gif i gonna test them once unifi reaches my location n i dont mind splashing extra every month on VPN while aiming 4 the 10mbps packages haha

Since 1Mbps Streamyx is good as dead... what about 2Mbps or 4Mbps package? Are these packages having P2P throttled/blocked completely?

Lol, this might sound like a crazy idea but perhaps they really WANT people to either upgrade their packages or cease to use their services altogether. That way those that are not complaining means they have been using their services fairly or TM does need not to provide further assistance, while those who are suffering are the ones they don't want using their services/want them to upgrade package. If they really are providing "quality" services as they claim, this is definitely not what it should be. I was hoping after the whole cable fixing thing the speed will be back (Facebook, Hotmail, Youtube). On top of all of this, 160kbps is a bye-bye.

File upload sites are now half the speed (max 50kbps). Seriously have no idea how anyone will have faith in them at this point.

tunnel through vpn implies traffic over other ports, you mean the quota calculation is only on port 80? doesn't make sense... then p2p traffic also not counted.

Hm, since saturday I've been having problems reaching international sites and they are getting harder and harder to load, requiring several reloads if I can actually reach them. Also the line has been going up and down again... more crappy unannounced 'maintenance'?

I used to have 220++ KB/s on my 1mbps package
now my dl speed cut in half... 110KB/s and connections to international sites became unstable.

For 1 Mbps your max speed should be 1024Kbps/8 = 128kBps. I assume you mean you are getting 120kBps not 120kbps. (B= byte, b= bit)

So you have nothing to complain. You were enjoying a bonus of 150-180 kBps before this but a bonus is a bonus, it can be withdrawn anytime.

So guys just a news for all the Streamyx users. TM is gonna shut down streamyx by 2012 vmad.gif . I was working as a Unifi promoter for sometime and my supervisor, also a Unifi installer tells me that these a**holes are going to shut down the services cause the copper cable in a lot of places are busted and they are too lazy too repair them so they are pushing Unifi like hell. As a fellow Streamyx user i wished to share the truth that i've heard from the mouths of TM subcontractors themselves, which is like coming from TM's own mouth

WTH that they think! Did they realize that STREAMYX user are scattered all around Malaysia... not like UNIFI where it is only available for the certain those so called "high-economic impact" territory... Before they want to "shutdown" the Streamyx, make sure you TM, make Unifi available to whole Malaysia! vmad.gif

That is both great news and bad news. The great news is that, it is brilliant to push towards the "future" of internet connectivity that is optical fiber. I am dead sure if they scrap Streamyx, there WILL be even more packages of Unifi that caters from the light users to heavy users.

The downside to this is of course, the coverage as well as the one-time work needed to install the connection. Contract should also be reduced to 1 year.

Anyways, no official word yet but yeah, in many ways Streamyx was once the almighty broadband speed demon (and some still experience this) but the constant upgrading, maintenance and the load of issues are definitely worrying. That is not to say Unifi is all glory.

In a way, TM can "focus" on making Unifi the best possible internet service instead of their constant work on making Streamyx work.
