You're both right. Indeed kinda dumb to give them more money. At this moment, I am having "severe" connection issues. It has been like this for 3 weeks. I am an avid P2P user, an am an esteemed member of a private P2P site. Any other way of downloading from this private site is strictly prohibited and no doubt a ban will be imminent. Even the client version used to download has to be exactly in the list. At this moment only all versions of Deluge works. Sadly, for the past 3 weeks none of the P2P has been downloading. My upload/download ratio has plummeted really badly and a swift ban will be in the future, about 2-3 weeks at this rate. Tried online/direct HTTP methods of downloading but all fails or the service is down.

Besides P2P, for some odd reason, with all the maintenance work going on, I can't quite load Facebook and Hotmail. Twitter works, and other sites too. Hotmail has taken the turn for the worst for me - it wouldn't load, or when loaded, I can't click to open Inbox / Sent items etc.. Facebook - can't even get to the login site. I am super busy at the moment to call up TM Net and report the "issue".

So is this an "issue" with my connection of maintenance work? I live in Kepong and for the past 3 weeks it has been an absolute nightmare. I have always been an avid TM Net user and always supported their upgrading/maintenance works. For the first time, I am thinking of moving to other providers. I'm most comfortable with wired ISP solutions. My cousin moved on to P1 Wimax as is extremely happy about it, never used it before but its wireless.

...oh and thanks to them taking back their bandwidth, the max speed of my 1Mbps is now 120kbps (used to be 170kbps).

My IP range is always 175.xxx.xxx.xx
*
depends on how slow it is
for me...it is worthed to go for 4Mbps
last time my 1Mbps also slow on web browsing...download also slow
something like megaupload also 20-30KBPS only
thn i apply upgraded to 4Mbps
at 1st, they upgraded the modulation to ADSL_2plus and upgraded the speed to 2Mbps only...to test the line if it's capable
even with only a minor speed upgrade...the web browsing everything became faster, megaupload suddenly can get full speed
so it's not the speed upgrade..for me, it's the modulation upgrade and the upload speed upgrade that changes everything
at last he upgraded to 4Mbps after successful test
so yes, it's worthed to upgrade to 4Mbps because of the modulation changes
until today when my uncle ask me to fix his com at his hse(he is using 1Mbps)
i can actually feel his speed on web browsing is very different than mine....some web i click and directly open, his connection need to load sometime to open the same page(we live quiet nearby BTW)
his download is exactly same like my previous 1Mbps....i tried download something from "file hosting website" on his com, crawling 40-50KBPS
when i download the same file from the same website at my com, can go full speed to 400+KBPS

I might consider upgrading to 4mbps too because this is getting ridiculous, however I might just hold on for at least another 3-6 months before I even take that option in case some changes occur or something better comes along (to the Sabah Kota Kinabalu area).

Hmm is it just me or did TMNUT Streamyx just suffer intense latency spikes to ALL locations.. Started at 3pm-ish

To local sites:-

Pinging google.com.my [209.85.175.104] with 32 bytes of data:

To Europe:-

Reply from 212.58.241.131: bytes=32 time=1063ms TTL=243

To US:-

Pinging cnn.com [157.166.255.18] with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.

What the heck is going on!?!?!?!

P.S. I'm wired to the router via Gig-E, LAN has no ping problems (<1ms latency).. also i'm on the 175.x.x.x address at TTDI using 4Mbps connection

EDIT:- Nvm, back to normal now.. must've been a minor breakdown at the local DSLAM

Nah, I don't think we'll be so lucky to get unifi that soon, maybe 1-2 yrs from now it'll come haha. I guess 3-6 months until I lose all my hair then I'll force myself to change tongue.gif

Btw, I noticed that when I load a youtube video it doesn't load fully, although on the progress bar it shows that it had loaded the whole video. When I play now it only reaches around 40-80% of the complete video (yes I already tried moving the seek bar further, still no go, the vid parts are not there). Anyone else experiencing this annoying thing? I thought it might have been a firefox thing but this only happens for me with youtube. Don't know if it has anything to do with the traffic spikes hanging/timing out the loading of the vid.

i saw my place (tuaran) already installing quiet long...they're just waiting for it finish install and use only
if my place started, i think kk already finished install...u just dn't see it only
becuz they dn't specify "unifi installation" on the road sign
very soon it wll start operating already
TM ppl here told me they start installing from last year july

Yeah but I meant for my area, I think it'll be a long while away before it becomes available for me, but if it comes sooner that will be nice. Then again I bet by the time I do manage to get it, the download quotas will be in effect yawn.gif
I did notice they've been installing a while, but it's only in select areas.

ya...that't the only downside of unifi is the quota
just upgrade to 4Mbps now
becuz if u upgrade it now...u would know if your line is capable or not
if not capable...after 3-6 month will still be not capable
thn your only choice is unifi

Yeah, I think I've given up on 1Mbps package. Is is extremely bad. It has occurred in the past, but nothing like this ever.

even if u complain, your complain will not work, because u been given free higher speed for LONG time, and TM decide to take all extra speed back,...

Switching to Unifi... aish... so much of work. Not just a simple "activate my account". I'm thinking of 5Mbps package.

why bother with unifi and all that work. not to mention the impending cap that will be coming as soon as tm fills it quota of unifi customers.

just switch to 4mb streamyx and "activate your account". icon_idea.gif
