I hope you have been successful with your job search and are all settled down in Tokyo.
My family goes back 2x a year but I malas nak ikut. Japan very stressful place - too many unwritten rules.

Besides summer in Tokyo hot giler sial (or raining) and winter (while not really super cold relative to north) in old house with no insulation is madness.
On the other hand, the recent yen-yasu is much welcome.

Take care.

Yeah yen is badly dropping since earlier this year. It's great for Malaysian travelers but terrible for me as I still send back some money back home
Tokyo's summer is worse than KL I agree. It's too humid I sometimes feel like dumping myself in bath tub for the whole day!

I'm currently working pretty much settled down. Thanks! Although the job is half decent compared to my previous career but its I guess it's a start
If you plan to come back next time you'd have someone to go for a drink with smile.gif

The date set is just a tentative date. That's why I stated 31st March or 7th April.
You're available on 7th April right?

Anyone else?

Do you mean you want to go hike Mt. Fuji? Or you just want to go somewhere near there to have a nice view of Mt. Fuji?
Sorry but can't answer whether it will be visible or not on 27. Need to wait at least 20 march for 1 week weather forecast

Yeah it sucks big time. The peak was 4.2 and at that time buying things from overseas was such a bargain.
You should have change it back to MYR earlier and buy during this downturn.

If you just wanna see Mt Fuji close up and at the same time do an activity I suggest you go to Fuji-Q theme park. You can purchase the package locally and would cost roughly the same. This way, you can enjoy the theme park even if the mountain is not visible. Although it might not be the best spot to snap great photo of the mountain but I would say its good and close enough. Btw, if you enjoy thrill rides theme park then you should go there!

Yeah, 9500yen is relatively expensive.
Anwyay, other than Fuji-Q Theme Park that has been suggested, i would like to suggest lake kawaguchiko (Kawaguchiko), 1 of the 5 holy lake that surround Mt. Fuji. I can guarantee you'll get a sceneric view from there, plus it's spring season right now. Will be a bunch of sakura & Mt. Fuji as background. You can visit here for Kawaguchiko : Kawaguchiko Travel Guide

Hope it helps. icon_idea.gif

Hi all,

I just came back from Japan last month after a backpacking trip. I visited Tokyo, Takayama, Nagano City and Matsumoto City. I am really interested to be going back to Shin Hirayu to do some hiking there. Is there a lot of mountain huts I can hop into from a route to route there in the area? I wonder if anyone knows about these.

Thanks.

hello, i am a student, age 22, using own savings to go tokyo. is it hard to get visa? should i buy ticket first or apply the visa first. need some advise. thanks

Hi,

its not that hard to get visa, you need to fill up some forms from the japanese embassy in KL's website. Your bank account/ FD must have about RM6000, you will need to print statement and attach them together with the forms and passport to submit for the visa. It will be ready in 3 days time of submission but they have only certain time to collect your visa so don't do this last minute. You can buy your tickets first if you meet their requirements, i think its a strong case if you purchase return tickets. The Japanese welcome tourism so visa should be no problem.
