root your phone, install Root Explorer and open it, go into /cust/maxis/my/app, delete those demo games' installer. (remember to switch the access from "Mount R/O" to "Mount R/W")
*
Can't delete them still even with root explorer. The moment i enter /cust, the mount changes back to r/o and i cannot change it anymore^^;;
Aaah maxis wry u do dis to me?

but im pretty sure the 5800 didnt have a lot of noise. at least my 5800 pics didnt have a lot of noise in it. X5 however, has some noticeable noise in the pictures. maybe no noise reduction algorithm. but i agree, phone cameras are only for impromptu snaps. too bad cant lug my dslr around with me. haha
*
I think it was the fix patch that i used that made the pics relatively good, but most of the time I don't want to use my 5800 for anything much xD;
i hate taking with flash so maybe that's why my pics are 50-50

you can switch it back to "Mount R/W" even after you entered into the /cust/maxis/my/app folder.

Hmm bro, since u own both X5 and G5, might be u do some detailed comparison both software wise and hardware wise between these 2 phone as a guideline for those who wished to adopt this phone.  smile.gif
*
In term of hardware, X5 wins hand down with bigger screen, faster cpu, more mem..
but G5 do have its own pros such as smaller phone n easier to fit inside the pocket, have radio, and also some customization of the UI from samsung.

If you think the 5800 pics are bad, then this phone is worse. I had the 5800 before and i still prefer its picture quality. Sorry to say but its the only downside i can think of about the X5, an otherwise great phone.
Ive tried 3 different file managers with root access and i still cant delete the lame gameloft apps. However i have not tried root explorer yet, maybe itll work. If you really hate the apps, i suggest you use LauncherPro as your homescreen replacement and hiding apps you dont want to use from the app drawer. Im using that method.
*
Thanks for the vital information.
Sigh...this is such a letdown.

There is a fine tool in gsm arena that allows us to check camera quality of some phones.
oddly enough 5800 isnt in there, so i'll use 5530 as a replacement. (their quality is pretty much the same)

http://www.gsmarena.com/piccmp.php3?idType...2&idPhone3=3252

the link i provide above compares 5530, x6 and N8 (i use N8 as a benchmark, its the best cam in the market now, about digicam quality)
(remember to set "scale to 3MP" to have a fair comparison.)

the 5800/5530 is very bad, check out the color area, there's noise even in bright condition,
and the words at the ruler are unreadable.
That's what i mean by lausy quality.

Still couldn't remove it, but i haven't downloaded the latest root explorer yet.

Anyway, I just installed Go Launcher and.... why does it keep hiding my phone calls?
Or is it now extra sensitive and reacting to my ear??

Maybe I should invest in some handsfree >_>;;

Root the phone will only allow you to have the administrator's right, it won't bring any side effect nor impact to the battery life.

for those who understand Chinese, can try the method in the below link:
http://bbs.hiapk.com/thread-1109934-1-1.html

- go download the update.zip, put into the root folder in your sd card.
- restart the phone in recovery mode.
- run the zip file.
- restart again and you will see the superuser icon.

My advise would be wait for custom roms to be more mature for Ideos X5 as rooting itself wont bring too much impact performance wise, MIUI also collecting votes for developement of this phone, just patient. smile.gif

yeay! bought mine with 16gb micro sd for 940..quite pricey lol

FYI RRP is RM899..so rm40 for the 16gb is quite cheap right? laugh.gif

finally my wife agree with my recommendation to get this phone but i still can't decide to get this phone locally at RM899 (no freebies but with local 2 years warranty..since there is no Huawie SC in Kota Bharu) or just get from LYN seller at RM850 + free postage + some freebies..i think worth at least RM50 rclxub.gif

If you don't mind me being frank.... The review sticks...........
1. Explain the bad points first........... Camera...... Materials for the design of the phone
2. Said as if its a ARM 6 phone (My opinion) ............ I mean when you say <1 Ghz, you better say its still can run flash... Its good they said the phone was lagless...
3. Graphic card? No mention of it... Didn't mention can play games smoothly or not......
4. Almost Clean Android - I see no mention of this.....
5. Benchmarks? I know benchmarks doesn't say much.... But for a budget phone that can beat its higher priced competitors in performance, why didn't you mention it?
6. Where is the battery life comments ar?

I can go on and on... But this review was lacking (to put it nicely)
