Fruit Ninja has some touch detection issues, even my copy lags. But everything else like Guerrilla Bob or Jenga runs super smooth.

Updated front page with new user list, essential apps and other stuff like custom roms! Dont blame me if you brick your phone lol, even im still learning the ropes.

As for rooting, it is imperative that you root your phone so that you can use apps like SetCPU, AdFree Android, MarketEnabler and Titanium Backup (most important!). So far with mash-up settings in SetCPU, i get an average of almost 1 day of usage before i need to recharge at night.

Thats with Wi-Fi never turned off, push data from Gmail, TweetDeck, music before bedtime, 40 minutes of phone call and massive amounts of texting.

You may also put the widget "Power Control" on ur desktop...and turn off: wifi, bluetooth, GPS, refresh and brightness when you are not using them...this will safe a lot of power. Another way is force stop those apps after using it under Settings - Application - Manage applications - Running -click on the app and select Force stop; becoz most app still running behind desktop when u bck to desktop home.

I full charge mine last night and after one whole day normal using(without playing music, game, video), still 66% of battery.
Btw, SubRoutine pls add me to owner list...thx
*
Agreed, shouldve put this as tips lol. Added you to user list as well =)

20 Cell Phones With Least Radiation

Apparently Gizmodo ranks the Ideos X5 as the number 5 phone with the least amount of radiation. Yay for lower cancerous cells!

As for those who are worried about battery life, use the Power Control widget and disable wifi/gps/background syncing/auto-brightness when you dont need it. For even more control, try using JuiceDefender that can automatically help reduce battery usage as you use the phone. For power users who have rooted the phone, use SetCPU for minute control over your CPU cycles. I use the ondemand profile when im running on battery, and the powersave profile when the screen is turned off. Helps me so far. Also, try not to use task managers. Turns out, if you keep killing tasks that you frequently use but dont need at that moment, Android actually uses more CPU cycles and battery power to run it again when you need it later. Leave the managing to Android, that's why it's voted as the best OS with multitasking ablities compared to iOS and others smile.gif

BTW i have updated the owner's list, if anyone is left out please post or PM me. Been busy this past few days, so much to do lol cry.gif

I tought this method: http://android.modaco.com/content/huawei-u...u8800-ideos-x5/

Can easily undo by replacing back original boot.img?
*
Agreed. Just flash the original boot.img back, then itll return to former state. Why would anyone want to unroot? Want to claim warranty perhaps?

maybe when the official gingerbread is here, we might need to unroot to get the official update..
if it's as easy as replacing the boot.img, then I'll root it.. smile.gif will i need to reset the phone after i replace it?
I don't want to lose my contact/sms/apps/etc..

btw.. anyone know what this boot.img file is for?
*
the rooting method only roots your phone. you will not lose your apps/contacts/sms. I synced my contacts then installed a few apps before i root. After the rooting process is done, nothing is changed. Except superuser abilities and faster performance.

hi, x5 user reporting in....

md5 : 5bfde2790a4cca2a9d106ef42111da47
the img file has been revised based on that thread.. i guess should be correct.
never tried it myself tho...

just wanna check is papago map is updatable?
*
yep it was revised. coz the first time Paul uploaded it, the link didnt work. he updated the link again after that, maybe thats why the MD5 hash changed. plus, if you downloaded the boot.img from his link, itll work.

This phone is really tempting.

One question though, i've read all the post from the first page to this page,
no one seem to mention the camera quality.

i usually use my phone as my primary camera, (i believe that the best camera in the world is the one that is with you when you need it)

I'm currently using nokia x6, yes i know symbian sucks, but x6 camera is quite decent, and i'm satisfied with the picture quality.

i wont want to make the same mistake as i did with my old nokia 5530
i thought all camera with autofocus will produce crips and clear pics,
but apparently this is not true. the nokia 5530 camera sucks, i've seen nokia 5800 pics, it sucks equally bad.
(lots of noise and low detail even in bright condition, low light pics are unusable, color looks washed out)

can owners of ideos x5 compare the camera quality with their previous phones?
as long the camera quality of ideos x5 is similar to nokia x6 or better, that it will be good enough for me.
*
If you think the 5800 pics are bad, then this phone is worse. I had the 5800 before and i still prefer its picture quality. Sorry to say but its the only downside i can think of about the X5, an otherwise great phone.

QUOTE(hyschara @ Jun 6 2011, 12:14 AM)
I still can't figure out how to uninstall those silly demo games that came in the x5. I can't get root explorer tho since I can't pay with google cashout yet.

Can Super Manager help me? it's supposed to have root file exploring functions but it cannot get rid of those games
*
Ive tried 3 different file managers with root access and i still cant delete the lame gameloft apps. However i have not tried root explorer yet, maybe itll work. If you really hate the apps, i suggest you use LauncherPro as your homescreen replacement and hiding apps you dont want to use from the app drawer. Im using that method.

I have the 5800 and I had some really nice pics from it, but yes it's a 50/50 situation with that camera.

Haven't tried the x5 in low light condition yet but indoor with considerable daylight is quite sharp. Motion blur are so-so.

Honestly phone cameras is something I never 'depend' on. I only use them to take impromptu snaps where quality isn't much of an issue, so to me the x5 is satisfactory so far.
*
but im pretty sure the 5800 didnt have a lot of noise. at least my 5800 pics didnt have a lot of noise in it. X5 however, has some noticeable noise in the pictures. maybe no noise reduction algorithm. but i agree, phone cameras are only for impromptu snaps. too bad cant lug my dslr around with me. haha

Guise, for those looking for Gingerbread-style UI...today is your day!

[THEME] B136/B160 Gingerbread/sense style w/ 1% circular battery @ XDA-Dev
power control widget and system settings icons ONLY @ MoDaCo

For those looking for moar install room, theres a method to format the internal 2GB memory as your data partition for apps. Meaning for apps that does not support App2Sd, you now have 2GB of space for all those apps! Be warned though, you will have to use the 600MB data partition as your internal SD instead once you apply this mod. If it sounds confusing or you wanna see more info, here ROM update--use INTERNAL 2GB SD as data

Enjoice!

Custom ROM installation guide added on the front page guide, courtesy of Piumiu! Gonna follow his methods now. As for rooting, it is really that simple. If the phone hangs on startup, just replace the boot.img with your original boot.img that you *hopefully* backed up somewhere.
