12" figures... but that's only 4 years back.... I would say a split... action figures and statues.

Since this is V2 I'm making a guide for anybody who wants to use tfaw.com. For international orders they only accept visa, MasterCard or American express as payment method. You will also have to create an account just like Amazon. There are three types of shipping options available standard, premium and expedited, I always use premium which takes about 7-18 working days to arrive. The shipping charge is weight based so using premium shipping as an example:
0 - 1lb = usd7.8 (1 tpb +1 single) or (5 singles)
1.01 - 2lbs = usd12.60 (2 tpbs +3 singles)
2.01 - 3lbs = usd 18.40 (4 tpbs + 1 singles)
Features of tfaw.com:
1.Nick & dent section.
All items that has the slightest imperfection are sent to the nick & dent section where all comic/tpb/statue/figure are always 50% off
2.Pre-order & subscriptions
You can pre-order comics or tpbs at 20% off.you can even pre-order which variant cover you want. You can also set the frequency of your pre-order or subscriptions are set from weekly to bi-monthly or even monthly.
3. Grab bag.
You can order a random comic or tpb from either Marvel, DC or Dark Horse at usd3.00 for tpb and usd0.50 for singles.

The only problem I have with tfaw.com is if you mix your orders with pre-orders and in stock items they will be sent seperately.

Just received my package from Mile High! rclxm9.gif since this is my first time ordering single issues online im pretty excited n at the same time equally nervous regarding the condition(dent, tears) and packaging of the comics. sweat.gif

so here goes:

im quite satisfied with the packaging. neat and tidy with boards separating in between issues. smile.gif

Attached Image Attached Image

now to unveil the precious content inside

Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image

Got Mighty Samson,Magnus Robot Fighter, Stan Lee's The Traveler & Marvel team up featuring Invincible and the Amazing Spider Man! brows.gif

All comics are near mint and as far as the naked eye can see, i am absolutely satisfied with condition they came in.

and 1 more thing.

Attached Image

do i see double??? shocking.gif

haha. like i stated before in the V1 thread. i accidentally ordered double issues of the Mighty Samson 1 & 2 ( one from LCS and the other from Mile High).

thus im letting go of 1 set for a slightly below cover price of RM28! i also accept trades k. those who are interested can drop me a pm.

overall very satisfied with my purchase and will definitely order from them again. thats all for now folks!

Thanks for looking smile.gif

Hi Sauron - Brilliant !!
By the way, after some time, did you wish that those good ones in TPB should be collected in HC?
Now, whenever i order good compilations, I try to get them in HC format.

Woah sweet collection man! Is that a Ultimate Spider #1 1st print? One of my favourite modern covers smile.gif Personally, I prefer to collect in HC instead of TPBs cos for TPBs, it's very easy to accidentally bend the cover, leaving an irremovable crease.

Yep. 1st print. During that time, I'm a bit hardcore in collecting comics. Daredevil #1 1st print, Ultimate X-Men #1, USM #1, JLA #1, Superman #123 (new costume) etc..Now only collect TPB/HC.

Haha me too! My favourite modern title is Ultimate Spiderman vol 1. Took me quite a while to hunt down the 3 #1 1st prints, a Dynamic Forces variant (remarked with a head sketch by Thibert), and two white variants, one signed by Bendis. biggrin.gif

Till today, USM #1 is one of my favourite covers!

Ultimate X-Men #1 has two DF variants (one DF variant and one DF sketch variant) that are pretty cool!

The current 'Bendis-Millar' storyline (Marvel main storyline)

- Secret Wars
- Planet Hulk
- House of M
- Avengers Disassembled
- Civil War
- World War Hulk
- Secret Invasion
- Siege

in between there is few books that tie-in with the main story (not officially)
- Captain America (Ed Brubaker)
- Iron Man (started with Extremis)
- Thor
- Invincible Iron Man
- Spider-Man (pre-Brand New Day)
- New Avengers
- Mighty Avengers
- Dark Avengers

Speaking of Universes 616 events, I think Fear Itself has potential. Every issue is jam-packed with good writing, awesome art and leaves me hanging for the next issue, unlike Siege, which was too rushed and short. Marvel was already promoting Heroic Age when Siege #2 barely came out.

Well, Fear Itself is written by Matt Fraction. Read his Invincible Iron Man, you'll know he's damn good. As for art, Stuart Immonen is one of my fav artist. Love his art since his Superman days (his Clark Kent is still the best IMO).

On Siege, it should at least 6 issues. Luckily Coipel art is awesome.

I met Matt Fraction at SGTCC last year. Super friendly guy. I've been wanting to pick up Invincible Iron Man since quite a while ago cos I was quite enticed by the art and the bits I've read here and there but no budget. Immonen sure did a much better job in Fear Itself than he did in Ultimate Spiderman. Or maybe Bagley was just too good. tongue.gif

BUT, Bagley and Immonen sure set a high standard which Lafuente failed to reach. Took me a while to get accustomed to Ultimate Comic Spiderman Vol 2. cry.gif

Nowadays I just buy tpb or hc that are slightly damaged since you can get them for half price and sometimes the damage is unnoticeable. To me the quality of the story is more important.
I just bought Ultimate Spider-man tpb vol 1 & 2 for usd6.38 and you can buy Invincible Iron Man HC vol 1 & 2 for just usd10 & usd8 respectively.

I'm also a story guy, I like paperbacks as they are cheaper and that means I can buy more stuff.

I make exceptions for some books with outstanding art, The Fables and Sandman one-shots I got in hardcover because that has luscious painted artwork.

If anyone is interested in great painted artwork with a great stry try Slaine:

When I first started out, I didn't like tpbs or HCs at all. I felt that comics should be read as how comics were read when they first came out- in singles format. Before I knew it, I had a thousand odd comics and I realised that space was one helluva issue for me. Then, I began to think hard- Would I want to end up with hundreds of longboxes stored with my singles and never open up for goodness knows how long?

So, I began to streamline my collection and keep those that I really like, like Amazing Spiderman for instance. Also, I'm beginning to pick up discounted Hardcovers cos they are easy to shelve and read.

Sheva78: You're right, tpbs are usually cheaper but you can also find cheap singles if you put in enough legwork. For instance, I've been selling most of my singles at close to half cover price with free bags and boards smile.gif So, if you guys are looking for any title or just wanna pick up something cheap to read, hit me up with a PM!

Recently, I began to shift my focus to sketches on blank covers. Gotta take a picture and show you guys sometime. Anybody else into collecting sketches and variants?

Toysmania since you like ultimate spider-man and variants maybe you should check out Ultimate Spider-Man 160 since there are several variants including a blank cover variant but the rarest is the Joe Quesada variant followed by a Michael Kaluta variant. TFAW.com is selling them at usd70 & usd24 respectively although the Quesada variant is already sold out.

Hey Sheva, I used to collect variants but have stopped collecting them because 1.) Marvel is printing variants like nobody's business, making the significance of variants meaningless and 2.) Why pay more for a printed variant cover when I can use the money to get an original hand-drawn sketch/ commission?

Let's talk about Ultimate Spiderman #160 for instance. The regular variant is such an obvious means to suck our money! Same art (just a spider symbol), different color doh.gif I saw the Joe Q variant, it's the one with Uncle Ben putting his shoulder around Peter Parker right?

Some advice for variant collectors: If you wanna get the best deal, NEVER, EVER, buy variants when they are just released or from your LCS. Most of the time, the prices of variants will drop drastically within a short few months, and you can get a pile of them from international sellers on Ebay and save on shipping. The total price paid will be way cheaper than what you pay if you buy every variant when it's just released. Till date, some of the few variants that hold a significant value are Ultimate Spiderman #1 DF variant, Ultimate Spiderman #1 white variant, Ultimate Spiderman #1 Blue Target variant, Uncanny X Men #510 partial sketch variant, Siege #3 Deadpool variant, Batman #608 RRP, Sketch #1 partial sketch variant. These are some that I can remember off hand.

Nowadays, I'll get most blank covers (whether the title is on my pull-list a not) so that I can stock up for the next comic con. Like I got the Mighty Thor blank, though I won't be getting #2 onwards. Just can't justify paying 3.99 USD when it's not on my priority list. Does the comic shops in Malaysia sell blank covers for cover price?

Added on May 31, 2011, 10:20 amThis it not the first sketch I bought, but it's my very FIRST commission from my favourite artist, Bill Dinh. Bill Dinh is a good buddy I met online, and he's one of the most awesomest kickass artist I've ever known. Bill is gonna to break into the Marvel/ DC industry, and I can't wait for that day to happen. tongue.gif

ENJOY.. hands.gif

AND Last but definitely not the least..

Before you click on the spoiler, let me share a story. I'm a huge Spidey fan and will usually collect Spidey sketches only. But Bill is such an amazing artist that I try to get as many of his sketches as possible. When I saw this sketch for the first time, I was immediately enticed by it. It was a masterpiece and I had to get it. But alas, the sketch was sold to a common friend of ours and it took months of persuasion and some luck before he agreed to let me have this piece.

I present to you: icon_rolleyes.gif

Anyone has any idea where to frame up a comic book?

I have a signed (and numbered) by Chris Bachalo issue of Generation X #1 from waaay back, had to save up quite a few days PT work pay to get it back then... probably worth nothing much nowadays, but it has sentimental value to me lor... so would like to hang it on the wall of my home office.

Only in my collection : Spider-Woman Vol 1 & 2 plus X-Men (wanna sell interested?)

The Fall of Mutants is oversized HC - evo, that's why I got it.

@sheva78: acmamall.com prices for GNs and TPs are even cheaper than Kino's. The office's registered in Tmn Melawati. I wonder if they're the distributors themselves...? Anyway, I might just wanna order from them from now on.

You can even pre-order some titles at acmamall.com. Searching for the stuff you want is easier using ISBN numbers than the title itself.

You sure cheaper bro?

List price: RM81??? Kino list price if not mistaken for this TPB is around RM51.

Checkout the list price.

But without the list price especially for older books, it's cheap. (Kino 20% discount is only for new books)

I'm from Singapore smile.gif

That's why I'm curious what it costs at the comic shops in Malaysia.

You can either send your comics via postage to CGC or purchase them within the US and have it sent to CGC. Taking the examples of my sketches, the artist bought the blanks in US and sketched on them before sending it to CGC. Once CGC finished grading the comic, I had the slabs sent to another US friend, who shipped everything together so that I could save on shipping.

CGC only ships overseas with FEDEX, so the shipping fees are a killer. I asked a CGC employee before, and he told me it costs 90 USD to ship 1-30 CGC slabs to Singapore!!

As is Mile High Comics. Most of their normal issues are cheap but if you look at their keys and CGC slabs, their prices are all over the places.

It depends on what you're getting. If you're getting some regular issues to complete a run, I'm pretty sure they are cheap.

Take a look at this: http://www.milehighcomics.com/cgi-bin/back...52131&snumber=1

Look at what they are charging for Ultimate Spiderman #1 Near Mint: 243 USD and Ultimate Spiderman #1 CGC 9.6: 585 USD

Even with 50% off, these comics are way overpriced, anyone in their right mind can easily purchase 2 Ultimate Spiderman #1 CGC 9.6 with some change left at 240 USD.

Just take a look at other key issues and CGC stuff and you'll know what I mean. Haha..

I think more will be after Action #1 and Detective #1, though the general consensus that this is a suicidal move by DC and we'll be back to where we were 2 years later. Haha..

There will be 52 new #1s. How many of you will try to get them all?

I wouldn't be surprised if these new 52 titles are DC's answer to Marvel's Ultimate Comics line. So these could be a temporary attempt to compete with Marvel for a bigger market share. Think Age of Apocalypse. Or Heroes Reborn. Where regular and ongoing titles were "cancelled" for four months to a year before everything reverted back to the normal universe/timeline.

Or it could be set in a post-Flashpoint world. Another Earth. Didn't DC introduce a new Multiverse at the end of the 52 weekly limited series comprising of 52 different Earths? Isn't Grant Morrison working on Multiversity?

I read somewhere that they promised the new titles would follow the events that happened in Flashpoint. Still, while it might seem like a money-making attempt to provide an opportunity for new readers to jump on, it's an equally, if not more, enticing opportunity for current readers to jump off. I wonder how many existing readers they'll lose. Haha..

These days, I only get omnibus and absolute editions. Thor by Walt Simonson Omnibus is a keeper. I am a proud owner of Absolute Watchmen, Absolute Crisis on Infinite Earths, Absolute New Frontier. And I love my Captain America Omnibus and Death of Captain America Omnibus. Madman Gargantua is a nice package. I just ordered Madman Atomica from TBD. Can't wait for it to arrive.

(For those who've ordered from The Book Depository: If the books are sent via normal mail, what if the parcel is larger than the mailbox? Will our friend the postman just throw it into the house compound like our other friend the newspaperman? Uh oh!)

However, there're still some titles that I follow in their monthly format. Grant Morrison's Batman is an only current example. Minis don't count, right? I'm getting Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung's Avengers: The Children's Crusade and The Chief's Ultimate Avengers vs New Ultimates. Flashpoint and Fear Itself too. I pick and choose when it comes to Geoff Johns' Green Lantern.

So am I excited about DC's new 52 no. 1s? I'll check out Justice League by Johns and Jim Lee. Green Lantern too. And the rumored Superman series by Morrison. I wonder what's gonna happen to Batman Inc.

In conclusion, I buy monthlies. I buy trades and hardcovers. I read free online comics/webcomics too.

Is it time to end the monthlies? Is it time to kill off the direct market? Is it time to stop being a comic book fan and go watch X-Men: First Class, Thor, Green Lantern, Captain America instead?

There are no hard-and-fast-rules for these. My own comic book experience might be similar to yours but it's also different. And it evolves over time too.

Perhaps the question should be: Is it a good time to be a comic book fan?

Another re-numbered? Wait 7-8 month, they're back to their original numbers.

JLA by Johns & Jim Lee? drool.gif & Flashpoint looks promising.

BTW, this year I only purchased 4 TPB so far. (which by the same time last year, probably more than 10 already) sweat.gif

Ultimate Avengers vol 1
Invincible Iron Man - Stark Disassembled & Stark Resilient
New Avengers - Siege

Post-Siege, not many comics caught my interest (well, I've read online comics whistling.gif). Already drop Thor, Superman & any Ultimate books from my list.
Avengers & New Avengers(except for Stuart Immonen's issues) also been dropped. Dunno if still wants to buy DD. Waiting for Mark Waid's (hate what they did to Matt in Shadowland..usually Matt deals with street issues but Shadowland deals with super-naturals..WTF!)

For now, the books that still in my target list is (TPB/HC only)
1. Green Lantern
2. Green Lantern Corps
3. Invincible Iron Man
4. Captain America
5. Fear Itself
6. The Mighty Thor
7. Flashpoint

Anyway X-Men : First Class, love the cameo of a surprise character though it would nice that it is longer and more relevant.

His art did not progress as compared to Marc Silvestri or Madureira, he's still sticking to the true tried n tested formula.

How would I give if the relaunch of Wonder Woman is done by Adam Hughes.

Just came back from Singapore.

Would like to applaud Comics World and its owner Bill (Brother of Patrick Teoh, voice of Radio 4) for a marvelous and wonderful shop he has down South!

Firstly, he does not only take selected comic books where people order or buy, he takes EVERYTHING! I'm talking from your normal stuff to Warhammer, to this to that and he has a big ass collection of back issues. This gives you a good total feel of a real hobbyist running a pure comic shop out of passion and not just money.

He also absorbs the 7% Singapore GST tax so that his readers will enjoy reading comics at a lower rate. The fact that he takes in so many comics and range/quantity, I manage to get:

1) The whole arc of Fantastic Four (Human Torch's Death)
2) The whole set of Blackest Night
3) The whole set of Brightest Day

All first prints, good condition, and all sold to me at cover price.

Now that's a good buy and I'm happy and contented smile.gif

QUOTE(Phonzy @ Jun 7 2011, 02:05 AM)

*
Well, I'm glad you had a fun time in Singapore smile.gif

However, there is something I'd like to share too, so you guys have a better idea.

I used to frequent Comics World back when I just started a few years ago. Initially, Uncle Bill was very fierce and he didn't like people browsing through his back issues and he didn't want to take the back issues out for you unless you said you'll definitely get it. A couple of months (or maybe a year rather) down the road, I dropped by his shop again and boy, was I surprised to see a sudden change. The lady (who usually is grumpy), was suddenly very nice and helpful, and even helped to check for stuff when I merely asked. For instance, I asked her whether she had any Casper comics and she searched for an #1, asked to me look through it and told me if I liked it, she could get the rest for me. I was pleasantly surprised (having had a bad experience before), so in this case their customer service certainly improved.

Now, if price is your concern, then sadly, Comics World is not the cheapest place to be. For instance, a 3.99 USD and 2.99 USD comic costs 7.20 SGD and 5.40 SGD respectively whereas it'll cost 6.40 SGD and 4.80 SGD respectively at G&B, another local comic shop. Also, the rate of TPBs and HCs at Comics World is nearly 2x USD price whereas the rate at G&B is 1.2x so the price difference is pretty significant.

The reason why Comics World is still around is partly cos it was the first comic shop in Singapore, so they still have a bunch of loyal regulars and their improved customer service surely wouldn't hurt. I purchase most of my comics at G&B (cos I'm still a student and a limited budget is always pulling me down) but I do drop by Comics World occasionally to catch up with Uncle Bill and purchase some stuff when I'm there. smile.gif

It depends on what you're looking for. BLackest Night and Brightest Day are relatively new and recent titles, so I'm sure G&B has stock of them. If you're looking for early 2000 or 199x titles, maybe Comics World will have more of such stuff then G&B> However, the good thing about G&B is you get to look through the back issues yourself!! Sadly, G&B doesn't put all their stock in the shop (probably cos no space).

But the price difference between the two shops is pretty significant for me (if you buy in large qty), so I'm more inclined to get most of my stuff from G&B.

Hi guys, first time poster here.

I'm a big fan of Marvel comics (X-Men in particular). My favorite character is Cyclops.

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get a copy of X-Men Origins: Cyclops?

Writer:
Stuart Moore
Penciller:
Jesse Delperdang
Penciler:
Adi Granov
Orig. Published:
January 13, 2010
Format:
Comic
UPC:
5960607008-00111

I started collected comics from 10-13 years old and I'm trying to get back into it slowly. Sadly, the number of places that sell comic book paraphernalia have dwindled over the years.

I'll post my collection of comics and trading cards here soon, to share with everyone.

By the way. there's a DC Comics exhibit in Pavilion with lots of Green Lantern stuff. No comics, but worth visiting for the sight of the life size figurines I suppose.

Cheers bro. I'll check out Comics Corner in SS15 this weekend. Any idea what their operating hours are like? Tried calling them but no one answered.

I used to buy comics ages ago from DCM Comics in Subang (near the 3K Sports Complex) from this guy called Michael. And from this dude named Raymond near Leisure Mall, Cheras.

Anyone here ever come across them?

What did you guys think of First Class? I thought it was brilliant, if you can ignore the obvious continuity issues and lack of primary characters.

Hmm, they had this pricing for quite a while, and I think they're comfortable with their loyal group of customers, hence they don't feel the need to lower their prices to compete with G&B.

Also, well-to-do folks might not mind paying more if they feel Comics World is more convenient or if they have a good relationship with Uncle Bill etc.. so yeah. That said, G&B hires only girls but they know nuts about comics. There're a couple of comic fan guys helping out once in a while and they're all pretty friendly. The owner, Bernard, is quite nice too.

G&B is in opposite Bugis (a few MRT stops from Orchard), at Rochor Centre.

PM me if you're coming up again. I could bring you there if I'm free smile.gif

My thought??? It's a good show compare to X1-3 innmy opinion.

Just suspend the continuity and some outta characters, it's much better.

X1 if look at the show is hero worship though much better than Superman Returns. X2 much better though X3 is slam bang action.

The Latino who had the typhoon like powers is Riptide.

The teleporting mutant is Azazel. In the comics he's actually Nightcrawler's father.

Okay.. I'm running out of space at home, so it's time for me clear off some of my collection. All my books are priced to sell, and I assure you they are much cheaper than what it costs at a comic shop. All prices are in Singapore Dollars (SGD), and most, if not all are bagged and boarded. I hope to share my comic goodness among other fans, so the more you buy, the cheaper they'll be biggrin.gif Also, if you buy anything from me, be prepared to receive freebies!!

Without further ado, here they come:
MARVEL
Marvel Zombies Return #1-5 (Complete 5 issue mini-series)(NM/NM+): $25

DC
Infinity Inc. #1-3, #8 (NM/NM+): $8

Justice League Unlimited #1-#32, #44 (NM+/M): $99
JLA Hitman #1-#2 (Complete 2 issue mini-series) (NM/NM+): $6
Justice League of America #19 (NM+): $2
Justice League of America Classified #54 (NM+): $2
(OR Buy JLA Unlimited and JLA Hitman for $100!! and get JLA #19 and #54 for free!)

Metal Men #1-#4 (NM/NM+): $10

Robin II: The Joker’s Wild! Collector’s Set (NM/NM+) (Sealed in polybag): $15
-Includes all direct market variant editions
-Newstand editions
-Exclusive hologram trading card

Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes #26-#36: $33
SuperGirl (1997 series) #10, 12, 13, 15, 17-19, 21, 22, 25, 33-35, 37, 39, 41(NM/NM+): $45
SuperGirl (2005 series) #1 (Michael Turner sketch cover. I saw the Mind Shop selling it for RM 80 during my last visit) -34 (with extra #26) (NM/NM+): $102
(OR Buy all Supergirl comics for $170!!)

Trinity #1-#43 (NM/NM+): $129

Trials of Shazam #1-#12 (Complete 12-issue mini series with extra #12) (NM/NM+): $36

WonderGirl #1-#6 (Complete 6 issue mini-series with extra #5)(NM/NM+): $18
Wonder Woman (2006 series) #1-#25, Annual #1 (missing #11, extra #18) (NM/NM+): $75
(OR Buy Wonder Girl and Wonder Woman comics for $90!!)

IDW
Transfomers: All Hail Megatron #1-#16 (Complete 16 issue mini-series)
(NM/NM+): $70

TPBs
Grimm Fairy Tales Vol 1 - 8 (Publisher: Zenescope): $120
Grimm Fairy Tales: The Piper (Publisher: Zenescope): $15
Fables Vol 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 (Publisher: Vertigo): $180

Fables and Grimm Fairy Tales are two different must-read titles if you haven't already done so. They are not your everyday super-hero comic, but rather, revolve around fairy tales and change their endings quite a bit. Grimm Fairy Tales has a more twisted, dark and sexy (damn sexy art! lol) concept, whereas Fables is more engaging and interesting personally. BUT, they are not suitable for kids due to nature of content (violence and coarse language).

Most of you probably know I'm from Singapore, so hit me a PM and I"ll let you know about the shipping costs. I did a quick check at my post office and shipping to Malaysia isn't that bad and is pretty fast (:

NOTE: I have a friend going down to KL in about a week, so there is a chance a COD transaction can take place. That way, you guys can save on shipping. But, you gotta be quick and let me know asap!

What's this bro?
*
It's a collector's edition of Robin II: The Joker's Wild, still sealed in its polybag. Includes 5 issues (if I remember correctly) and an exclusive hologram trading card.

Here's a picture of it:

Another gimmick to rejuvenate the brand.

More reason to get #544 then.

Schism #1 hits US stores on July 13 and the second issue is two weeks later.

Any idea when the first issue will reach KL?

What will you be getting? I've bolded the ones I'm definitely getting. I don't buy singles as they aren't good value but really think I'll get a tablet and start buying the 4 week delayed ones for $1.99.

Worried DC pulled the reboot again, BoP renumbered and running less than 12 issues and now renumbered again ???

Same with WWoman new adventures, wait till u read JMS comments. JMS knew it gonna happens, just that it leaves bad taste.

52 # 1 issue is pretty big undertakings, even Joe at helm of Marvel did not jump into drawing - wonder how many issues or delays we might get from Jim Lee.

They actually delayed Batwoman's launch due to the reboot, no point launching a new number 1 and then another one a few months later.

Each single is 3.99 USD, so I assume a Fear Itself HC will cost slightly more than 28 USD.

HCs and Omnibus is a bit weird, the price can goes up in time for popular titles and out of print ones.

Check the price at eBay. If the newer titles you can get from Amazon or BookDepository with discounts.

Fear Itself HC @ USD 20 after discount

http://www.amazon.com/Fear-Itself-Matt-Fra...07710314&sr=1-3

EVERQUEST: TRANSFORMATION (2002) #1
FURTHER ADVENTURES OF CYCLOPS & PHOENIX (1996) #1 - 4

PSYLOCKE & ARCHANGEL: CRIMSON DAWN #1 - 4

Usually HC/TPB price is way more cheaper than the single issues. A six part HC usually around RM68 in Kino. While a six part TPB around RM51.

Yup always a good one to remember. If there's a book you know you want to get in trade then go to those 2 sites a month or so before they come out and order them, the discounts are usually much better. I managed to get 56% off at BD once on a pre-order.

One thing to note, when you pre-order on Amazon they take the money from your credit card when it comes out, in Book Depository they take the money out when you order. I don't really mind either way but just so nobody gets a nasty surprise with money coming out when you didn't expect it.

Haul for today

Attached Image

As for the relaunch, i will only pick up Batman and Action (because of Morrison). Wth they put Tim Drake on Teen Titans????? Red Robin is among the best Bat title. Thank you DC for helping me reduce my monthly pulls rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

As for Uncanny, i will drop the title after its final issue. Gonna stick with X-Men from now on.

The Batman books are keeping the same creative teams (just moving around) and Batman Inc is coming back.

To be honest I wil be buying after the revamp for the first time in a long time. The last time they did this in 1986 for Crisis they were some of the best books DC have done.

Currently DC books that I've collect is only Green Lantern/Corps. Already drop Superman as the title become boring now. But Flashpoint looks good. Already read the first 2 issues & I like it.

Astonishing X-Men. Post-Whedon/Cassaday, this book lost the fun. The current issue's art is uh..well..sucks. Marvel should keep big name Artist in this book. They should hire Bachalo to draw this book.

Another DC fan here hehe.

Mostly reading the Green Lantern line but also but a few Vertigo related titles.

I really like Flashpoint n hope that they come up with a great conclusion.

as for Marvel, the only title that im really into right now is Venom (as u can see from my avatar tongue.gif ). Love the writing of Redeemer & Moore's art just hope the creative team doesn't boot out like Kirkman & Capullo did on Image's Haunt.

I have seen both and they are both well worth watching. Not perfect but among the better superhero films.

There are bits on both that will have comic fans going 'yes!'.

Green Lantern looks ike it could be good for kids. I don't think the concept works very well to making a serious film.

I'm not a big DC reader and I only knew about Deadman when I read Brightest Day. Haha I don't think Deadman's gonna get a movie anytime soon.

On this note, I think X Men First Class was a risk, introducing numerous rather unknown characters to the layman. Even I, a pretty huge Marvel fan, didn't recognise some of the characters immediately or know them at all (Ok, I'm a bad fan hahaha) but it was a good risk. I enjoyed the movie!

Thor's pretty awesome too. Both are definitely worth watching! (:

If an Italian supernatural comic like Dylan Dog can get a movie i'm sure there's a chance that Deadman can get a movie although DC is not very prolific in its movie making ventures. I can't remember the last movie they made before GL was it The Losers or the second Batman movie.

Watched Thor but not going to watch First Class. I think Thor is a good movie and the Hawkeye cameo was a nice touch.

Hmm, maybe. However, I think Dylan Dog has a strong appeal to kids due to its comedy-natured/ light-hearted tone. I'm not sure, I haven't watched it. Haha

Red Hulk looks odd, darn Spider-Woman again ????

Next Big Thing from Marvel

Marvel Comics held its latest "Next Big Thing" press conference call Monday afternoon, keeping the subject of the call close to the vest until just after the call began. Once Zeb Wells and Joe Madureira were on the line, the pair announced that they would be collaborating on a new ongoing series titled "Avenging Spider-Man," which debuts in November.

May not be that famous to us but Dylan Dog sells millions and millions of copies across mainland Europe. In a whole different league to Deadman that can't even keep his own book.

Just saw Marvel's Spet solicitations for Venom #7.

Is it just me or Tony Moore has a problem completing interior art on a monthly basis? vmad.gif

For 2 issues straight he is doing only the cover.

Walking Dead dejavu anyone? is he only destined to start up great monthly but not continuing them?

I really hope that he would stay in as the regular artist though. his art is really good. a sort of cartoonish feeling to it.

yeah old idea. i think its a good idea since the oversaturation of team members like wolvie is in x-men,uncanny,x-force and emma too, since she is everywhere. Just like spidey; Avengers, FF and in his own book LoL

The old idea of Blue & Gold teams was more logistics driven I suppose.

The new split is ideology driven. I suppose, like the old X-Force led by Cable with their more extreme methods vs the X-Men's "safe" approach.

Of course, this Schism comes with the added animosity of Cyclops and Wolverine.

I wonder who will support Wolverine since he is off to his Avengers/Wolverine duty, he will not be able to be a good leader with vision but as a soldier to do the job --> he is reliable.

Storm or Rogue would be a suitable counter-foil to Cyclops.

As for GL show, it such an underwhelming movie.

I think they wanna split the movie into sequels. You guys should watch the animated movie 'Green Lantern : First Flight' (Go buy DVD/Bluray!) - imho, this is how the live action should be.

Do you have ipod/iphone/ipad or android devices? If you do, then download the comixology app. The blackest nite issue there is between usd 1.99~3.99.

I have the apps for my iphone n tab. What i did is create a us itunes account, buy the prepaid itunes card on ebay, then buy the comic thru the app.

I'm thinking of going digital when dc relaunch in sept, because they release on the same date as the physical copies and priced at usd 1.99 iinm

Woah RM 700?! I think my heart will also get a severe attack. haha if only comics are like a dollar each or something. And yes, it does suck when your LCS forgets to reserve a title for you or smth. Esp when you're buying so many titles, you can't rmb what you're missing and when you go home and realise, it's too late.

Evo: I'm with you. Been thinking about going digital but I thought I read somewhere that digital comics cost the same, so not worth it. But man, if they're like way cheaper, I wouldn't mind man, especially since I'm planning to resell most of what I buy. Of course, I'll still feel inclined to buy singles of my favorite superhero, Spidey! Sadly, it's like a permanently 3.99 USD comic. cry.gif

With digital subscription, do you actually get the comic as a file with DRM that you can read anytime or you just get the ability to read the comic that you bought online only which would suck?

IMO, reading comics online a bit 'empty' compare read normally.

I've read comics online every week ( whistling.gif ) but still buy the TPB/HC if the story/art good.

I do not have statues, but this is my small dvd/bluray comics related collection. missing a few because friends and relatives borrow some tongue.gif

Attached Image

I almost have all the DC universe animated film - just missing wonder woman, superman/shazam and doomsday. Cant wait for the next film - Batman Year One!

@toysmania : IINM, when DC relaunch in Sept, the Digital comics will be offered in two price scheme - USD1.99 and USD2.99 (where you can print the digital copy that you own.)

@sheva78 : i'm using comixology. I dont need to be connected to the web to read the comics that i bought. The beauty of comixology is that once i bought a comic (with the same account) i can read em on the browser, on my PSP/ipod/iphone/tab smile.gif

Marvel also provides subs, where you can read the entire Marvel catalog.

What I read was:

Day and date: $2.99 from Comixology
4 weeks after release: Price drops to $1.99 on Comixology

For JLA it is a $3.99 first issue as it is 40 pages. They will also be selling a physical copy for $4.99 that has a card in it that allows you to access the digital version as well.

I thought about that. But I'll be contended holding the actual comic and "smelling" the paper stock of my Amazing Spiderman biggrin.gif

As for the other titles, I'll have to get them at a cheaper source, considering that space is also an issue for me.

lol...well my personal opinion.

i started with single issues, love it, short reads, easy seperation means i read now, stop. done. do i pick up the next issue and read? or keep it for tomorrow?

then i switched to pirate styling like sauron76, but after awhile no oomph la..like damn uncomfortable sitting up on my comp scrolling comics...

so then i went to hardcover, but hardcover so damn thick feels like reading a novel sometimes and get damn drowsy fast

so i switched back to single issues T_T

or maybe im just being fussy like a girl hahahaha

Haha like I said before, I used to buy only singles, but have been starting to get HCs. Still don't like TPBs (too soft and flimsy), but sometimes no choice, like Fables for instance.

1. Download 'Jack Sparrow' version of comics.
2. Read it
3. If like it, I bought TPB/HC
4. If don't like it, delete it.

Hi welcome
For iron man you must check out

Spider-Girl of May Parker got her run under Spider-Girl comics some time back as MC2 banner before being cancelled. The review is that it is a pretty solid comic but low on sales volume.

Adana is a so so character of 616 universe, the main one is May Parker of MC2 who should. Bear the mantle of Spider-Girl.

Just too bad the volume of sales is unable to support the title.

Hi there. Single issue comic range from rm13 ~ rm16 depending on the cover price. I've listed some comic shop around kl on the first page. Be warned though, some shop dont carry extra copies of the current issues - so you have to order in advance. For example, comics that due in september must be ordered in july.

DC gonna release static shox no.1 in sept

Its cheap if you do combine shipping like; 1 shipment per month and if dont mind getting your comic late.

So is anyone following Flashpoint?

Just read issue 3 and I would say that it is the strongest issue so far. The Superman in this world is... Interesting though. Haha. I think the issue did what it is suppose, I mean it lived

Cant wait for next month when the it comes into conclusion. Curious how it will thoroughly affect the rebooted DCU.

Well i think ur best bet is online stores bro. Got my Flashpoint 1 at comics corner when it first came out. And when issue 2 was released, i waited a bit too long to to get it (a week after) n guess what, it was SOLD OUT. blink.gif

I honestly didn't expect it n tie-ins like Batman n Abin Sur only left 1 or 2 issue. Thank god my girlfriend was in Australia at the time n she got me issue 2 form there brows.gif

so try online stores, maybe mile-high comics have a few issues left i think.

Just finished reading Batman : Gates of Gotham written by Scott Snyder. Its about a villain trying to take down the first families of Gotham - the Waynes, the Elliotts and the Cobblepots. a 5 part story, HIGHLY recommended to Batman fans.

btw, in this comic Grayson as Batman, not Bruce which is odd since its about the Waynes.

Amazon has just bought Book Depository. Although the deal has yet to be greenlighted by the Office of Fair Trade in the UK. Whether this is a good news or a bad one will just have to see. Personally I have never bought books or tpbs from Amazon since the delivery charge is quite high. Just hope that Book Depository don't start charging for delivery after this.

Kacau la this Amazon. Such a huge company eating away other as well. Well the this might be a good thing in away where Book Depository would offer huge discount like Amazon with free shipping. The discount in Book Depository is really worth it only when u have the coupon or specially with pre-orders. But sometimes it still fall in comparison with Amazon plus their shipping

but one can only hope...

I think 5 issues does sound short but it all depends n how well will the story be executed. There also no point to stretch an event until 7-8 issues if the story's progression is slow n empty.

So far Flashpoint is picking up the pace with issue 3. Let just hope that the remaining 2 issues will wrap it up all nicely. But the tie-ins do give us more of an insight to the flashpoint world but some are obviously a better then others. Yet they are not essential though.

And cool variants. I prefer the Andy Kubert's sketch ones but its just so expensive. sweat.gif aiii

I'm anxiously waiting for my order from TFAW for Batman and Aquaman tie-in. Really wanted the Batman pin biggrin.gif . The delivery due date has passed yet my comics have not arrived yet. cry.gif

Im so worried... unsure.gif

Since you you ordered through TFAW did you used the premium or standard delivery. I always use premium and never had any problem. Sometimes the delay can be caused by the customs
department taking their time before releasing your package. You can contact TFAW customer service and declare your package missing only one week after the due date.

So for those who'd preordered from TFAW, DCBS, Mile High, etc, do you save more even when shipping cost is factored in? I'm very eager to order all September-shipping 52 new DC Comics titles from one of these online stores since local comic shops are unable to give better discounts.

Thanks in advance.

I have yet to read issue 3, but i was hoping they flesh out a bit more of the flashpoint world in the main book rather than have so many tie ins sweat.gif sweat.gif

Currently buying 2 tie-ins, batman and deadman - probably will add two more lois lane and projekt superman

Earth 638 gave 10% discount to members (this shop is my main source of comics locally).

MileHigh comics currently give free shipping for orders over USD10. I only buy from online store when they are having sales.

@ evoHahn - Thanks. But yeah, local comic shops only offer 10%. However, DCBS is offering 40-50%. Very tempting, especially if one is considering getting more than a handful of copies. Just that I'm not sure if it's worth it when we include the cost of shipping...

DCBS option will be a lil bit cheaper if you ship once per month, but..

1. You have to order in advance. This is not a problem if its involved your current monthly pull, it is a problem if you wanted to buy a new title.

2. If you buy multiple title but different release date. For example you want to order 4 title; A,B,C & D.

comic A comes out on the 1st Wednesday, comic B comes out on the 2nd Wednesday etc etc... so you have to wait for the whole to finish before they ship your order... or trade waiting is better?

at the end of the day... it save you RM1? RM5?

Well mainly from online shops (currently Mile High) n The Mind Shop. From mind shop my pull list is Venom, Traveler & Mighty Samson. But sometimes I would also check Comics Corner subang as when u don't pre-order from aunty I realize that she wont bring enough issues. rclxub.gif

I buy from online mainly because its a bit cheaper n I can get at least one more title against the 2 that I will get if I buy from Local. But the wait is really suffocating though, not really worth it sometimes. I would go online for tie-ins especially if they have collectibles like the flashpoint pins. thumbup.gif

I ordered using premium n its stated tht it was shipped 22nd July. Its been 21 days already! aiii cry.gif
But thanks for telling me about the 1 week thing. I will be counting my calender from now.

And regarding the Flashpoint tie-ins I would say that Batman by far is the best. I have to admit then I'm the type which download comics (because x tahan!)but would still buy the issues which I really love. Collect mainly trades before but now branching out to singles while burning a hole in my pocket tongue.gif

Currently training myself to resist n read it when i actually get the issue in my hand. I know that the satisfaction is waaaayy more rewarding but curiosity killed the cat. Haven't read Venom 4 yet so I'm waiting anxiously to pick it up. rclxm9.gif

If you read the fine print it's actually 21 working days so Saturday & Sunday don't count. So if you ordered on the 22nd of June its been only 15 working days.

Many? No lah. I only bought two so far based on recommendation on the net. I'm buying Batman Dark Knight of Vengeance & Deadman and the Flying Grayson - both are Batman related title. I'm searching hi and lo for Project Superman, but havent been able to find a copy.

My recommendation - Batman Dark Knight - the story is not tied to the main Flashpoint story, you can enjoy the story without reading the Flashpoint story.

You need more people for what?

I haven't bought single issues since I came to Malaysia in 2003, they are hard to find and the price is ridiculous. It's a comparison thing, with Diamond delivering direct to the UK you don't actually pay cover price in the shop. I used to get 38% discount, so a $2.99 comic was $1.80 or RM5.40, so when I saw RM12-14 for the same thing I recoiled in horror.

The comics companies will still get my business and I'll read them but at $1.99 on the 4 week delay price from DC, it'll be half the price for the same book.

I think values of goods get stuck in your head, Malaysians go to the UK and are horrified at seeing a menu asking £15 for a noodle dish wheh they can get it for RM5 here, I come here and am amazed that people pay twice the real value of the car for a BMW. If you gave me a million ringitt win on the lottery I wouldn't buy one, they aren't worth that much.

He meant less people frequenting to LCS. In regards to price, pre-1999 we can get comics for less than RM10 back then (USD1 ~ RM2.50). When the currency speculators attack this region, the government decided to peg the ringgit - USD 1 to RM3.80. When this happened, the comics price doubled - and as a student back then, i had to give up the hobby. You really cant compare UK pounds to US Dollar / UK pounds to RM since the pounds has always have a higher value than the US Dollar.

and because of this, the number of comics shop dwindled in KL especially.

Okay got it. I have sympathies but I haven't ever shopped at an LCS in Malaysia, I bought trades instead. I do really hope they survive but in the end I'm more interested in reading than collecting. I don't want to download illegally as that would harm the comic being made but if I pay for them I want the best price I can. So sorry to Eric but I was lost a long time back. sad.gif

I did hear that DC are launching a retailer programme that would mean if your LCS sets up a website with a link to Comixology's DC Store they will get 30% of the profit, if that applies to Malaysian retailers then I'd love to do that and support them for the first time. You may want to ask your LCS owner to look into it.

On comparing pounds and dollars and RM, yes you can. I used a currency converter so the comparisons are accurate.

The value of a currency doesn't relate to how wealthy people are, it adjusts to that by paying you less or more of that currency. The average UK salary is £23k pa, the US one is $38k. If you run it through XE.com you'll see that value is almost exactly the same. So a $2.99 comic is worth £1.86 but the real cost is the same. In real value a US$3 comic here selling at RM12 costs $4, which is nobody's fault, the demand isn't big enough for direct dist. but it's very expensive.

I often hear people say "oh UK earns 5 times and US earns 3 times" but it doesn't work like that and I don't know why it's become common. In fact in Malaysia the average annual salary is around RM48k pa (4k a month) which is just under half the US and US figure, not one fifth or one third.

In fact in Malaysia the average annual salary is around RM48k pa (4k a month) which is just under half the US and US figure, not one fifth or one third.

as long as you still buying comics legally, i'm okay with it smile.gif

Updated first page with DC's October solicits and the DCnU Superman is now an orphan (no more Ma & Pa Kent) and single! Looks like its 'Brand New Day' Superman! LOL

Maybe they find that BND Spidey is charting sales? Or more potential? Anyway maybe a romance with Wonder Woman is in the pipeline? We do know that Lois and Supes is totally impossible due to his powers.

So long ago, comics cost RM2-50 per book.

Oh yes, I'm talking buying them only, comics don't have a big enough audience they can brush off piracy like the big film studios. Once it gets to September I'll be getting a few of the new DC titles monthly from Comixology.

At the moment I'm thinking of getting:

Justice League Dark
Stormwatch
Action Comics
Demon Knights
Swamp Thing
Resurrection Man

Tempted by Wonder Woman and Animal Man too, will wait and see the reviews on those. I'm someone who buys for the writer more than anything so it doesn't matter to me these aren't the most famous characters.

Fast fast from bleeding cool.

Amazon.com are listing the X-Men: Age Of X hardcover for almost 60% off. Less than Amazon paid for copies. Less than comic shops paid for copies. Cover price of $29.99, seling for $12.49. With shipping thrown in. 256 pages of alternate universe X-Men goodness.

It's worth checking Bleeding Cool now and then as Rich finds those offers. I got an Absolute Dark Knight from Amazon France that was selling for 10 Euros!

I tried another one from Amazon where they listed omnibuses with 70% off, they cancelled the order saying it was a mistake but I still got a $35 voucher so ordered some other books for free.

Hey, guys
I'm definitely getting 17 of the new DC 52 titles this Sept. Would love to get more. But these 17 are already costing me over RM200. I've checked out some online stores. And I've done the math. For example, if I were to order from DCBS, ALL 52 cost me slightly over RM300, INCLUDING shipping. I'm now seriously considering getting all 52 from an online shop. There'll probably be a few titles that I have zero interest in like the Western one and a few others but at least I get to try out and read more than the 17 that I'd initially wanted. Who know? I'll get more come Oct.

thats not all. the two superman comics is set on different time line. Action comics (Morrison) going to be about the beginnings of superman career, while superman (Perez) will be set in the current time line.

and it affects Batman too, since the Justice League is not yet formed - each member has not meet anyone yet; Batman is working underground - but he already had 3 robins - Grayson (now nightwing), Drake (red robin) and Damian plus the other two Jason and Steph. So we are to believe that in Batman short career, he already had 5 robins?

Well, I intend to try out as many titles in Sept. After all, they're first issues. Might switch to trade later.

Action Comics and Justice League are set in the past, approx. 5 years in the past.

The Batman and GL titles are not reboots. They worked so well previously and were best-sellers so DC's not messing with them.

Some titles and characters will, however, experience major revamps. Like Teen Titans. And Batgirl. But for all we know, Batgirl could also be set in the past, though in one of the ongoing SDCC panels, DC's mentioned that Barbara's going through physiotherapy so she could still have been paralysed previously.

It's been speculated that this DCnU initiative is DC's version of Marvel's Ultimate line, just that it's being applied to the entire DC Universe. And it's been mentioned that DC's giving this new bold direction a year to gauge the level of success that this will or will not bring. If you've been a comic book reader for some time, you'll know that it's so easy to press the reset/reboot/relaunch/"reborn"/"ultimate" button or "OMD" the entire thing or change it back to status quo and everything reverts back to an earlier established continuity or do another Crisis and "Superboy-Prime punch" the whole thing again and do another round of universe-wide correction and clean up whatever mess they've gotten themselves into.

Ah, comics. Can we live without them?

Guys, which online comic store would you recommend that I buy from which is safe, reliable and wont kena 'tahan' by customs. I've been following this thread the past week and see that most would buy online as local comic stores do charge at a premium (which i understand to support their business).

As for DC's new 52, if buying online is only RM300 and more, I'm definitely interested. I just ordered all 52 from Comic's Corner and at local Msian cover price, its going to set me back close to RM1k. I dont have much money so now looking for alternative to buying my comics (Eric dont know where you get your stock la haha). I only collect all Top Cow and Aspen comics and most DC titles with some Marvel smile.gif

TFAW.com is offering all 52 issues of DC relaunch for usd 79.74 minus the shipping cost but you have to pre-order before the 27th of July. The shipping cost is determined by weight but you can save some money by
changing the delivery to bi-weekly or monthly.

Me personally, not interested in the DC relaunch at all.

Issue 2 of 5 is coming out this Wednesday. Looking forward to seeing how things escalate and what causes Cyclops and Wolverine's conflict.

I read also that Uncanny X-Men 1 won't feature Cyclops but will have Wolverine. The pessimist in me is crying out that this is a conspiracy to put Wolverine in all the x-books and marginalise Cyclops.

Updated first post with Marvel's October solicits.

From Batman Year one premier..

QUOTE
Before the Q&A portion kicked off, Timm made some announcements about the upcoming animated features coming from DC. Next up will be "Justice League: Doom," inspired by the "Tower of Babel" story from Mark Waid's "JLA" run. "It's really cool, and it's coming out next year," said Timm. Also coming up is "Superman vs. The Elite." "It's not world famous, but it's a really well-regarded story." Finally, for the big announcement for the panel, Timm announced that "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns" will be adapted into an animated feature as a two-parter.

'Tower of Babel'? They should do the White Martian storyline from Grant Morrison's JLA which contains the one of my favourite comic books moments.

i think they would loosely based on it as seen on the other DCU animated projects. Just finished watching the whole all star superman blu ray , they left some of the chapter out like the bizarro and the little kryptonian. There's a documentary on how Morrison came out with the idea, and he's a really good sketcher actually.

Fear Itself #7 - price increases from $3.99 to $4.99 (like what DC did with the last issue of Blackest Night). Starting to piss me off. Seriously thinking of fully migrating to HCs/TPBs. Cheaper than getting all single issues combined and need not worry about variants and unnecessary price increases. Forget about event books and all singles already!

Wolverine and the X-Men #1 - $4.99?! First issues now priced at $4.99 ke? Then subsequent ones $3.99 meh? "Dear Marvel, draw the line-lah, like what DC's doing."

X-Men: ReGenesis - $3.99 but is this necessary? The X-editors have a habit of doing bookends and specials. This has been the norm since as far back as the 90s, I think. Remember X-Men: Alpha and X-Men: Omega, then quickly followed by X-Men: Prime, and we also had Onslaught: X-Men and Onslaught: Marvel Universe? More recently, we had seen stuff like Decimation: House of M: The Day After, X-Men: Original Sin, X Necrosha, X-Men: Endangered Species, X-Men: Second Coming #1 and #2...

Incredible Hulk #1 - $3.99. Shows inconsistency in Marvel's policy. Or rather it shows that the House of (Bankrupt) Ideas is only thinking of our hard earned money. But what about subsequent issues? Knowing Marvel, they'll still be priced at $3.99. Need to pay Marc Silvestri...

this V2 thread seems much more lively and up to date than V1, good to see evo running the show now. haha

i can't rmb the last time my marvel book was $2.99, but looking at the Oct solicits i think i will finish thor 1-6 despite the $3.99 price tag since Coipel is not doing thor (for good?) issue 7.

can't say no to bachalo on wolvie/x-men though, Marvel is really sucking their readers dry.

When Morrison started he used to draw his own stories, as did Alan Moore.

This is Morrison in 1978 on Near Myths:

This is Alan Moore on The Stars My Degradation:

Both decided they were better of writing than drawing but they can both draw a bit.

Are you a Marvel/DC/Image/Dark Horse fan boy?

I'll start - I'm a Marvel fan boy, but i do read comics from other publisher - but my main collection consists of marvel comics

I follow creators mainly, don't care much who publishes them. I have a bit more love for Marvel characters because I read them more when I was young but I wouldn't follow a character if the story is bad.

was a marvel fan when i started then image came about and ultimately drove me away.

now as an adult, my choice is still marvel despite the pricing issues but i usually follow the creator/artist rather than the publisher (like what happened when Image first started).

Huge X-Men fan in the 90s. Moved to Avengers in the 2000s when Joe Q "destroyed" the line. Was into Ultimate X-Men and Ultimates too during Millar's time. Started reading more DC after Identity Crisis/Infinite Crisis.

These days, I've dropped most of the Marvel stuff when Marvel started charging $3.99 for a comic. I only get limited series and certain arcs. I've given up the habit of "completing my runs".

As for DC, they still have my money as long as they keep their comics at $2.99.

I also follow creators. Millar used to be my favourite Old Man Logan but he's more interested in making films nowadays. Followed Morrison from New X-Men to the Bat titles. Ellis from Stormwatch and The Authority to Iron Man and Thunderbolts but I found his run on Astonishing X-Men to be a little confusing even though I was a huge X-fan. With films and animation keeping him busy, I'm not surprised that his "quality" has dropped.

Right now I'm more focused on events but Fear Itself is making me think twice about getting future events, though I have a feeling Marvel and Bendis will give us an Avengers event next summer (no surprise here with the Avengers film coming next year and Bendis' already confirmed that he and Hitch are working on an Ultron story, which was teased at in a Point 1 issue of Avengers earlier this year). Not really a big fan of Bendis but that guy does have pretty innovative ideas but poor execution/conclusion.

Flashpoint would have bankrupted me if not for the earlier than expected DCnU announcements, no thanks to Bleeding Cool, of course. So I'm just getting the main FP miniseries, Batman, Superman and Secret Seven.

DC's getting most of my money this September but at the moment, I'm only continuing with Action Comics and Justice League in Oct. The others are on a "wait and see, read first then decide".

Of course I'll always get some trades, HCs, Omnibus, Absolute editions and special one-shots from time to time.

I would have to say that most of my purchases are from Dark Horse. Most of them are from the BPRD/Hellboy series and Conan. I also buy Skullkickers from Image and Spider-Man and the odd tpb or hc here and there.

is there another STGCC at year end? I thought this august was the main one. I was thinking of going but financially may not be the right time. plus this year seems smaller, not much artist or writers going, so i'm thinking whether or not to go. last year was at least much better in terms of the guest list

When I'm first started this hobby, I'm a big DC fan. Superman & Batman is my favourite. Then Spawn, Cliffhanger, Marvel Knights came but DC is still my fav. Then after 4 years, I quit this hobby.

Then somewhere in 2007, dunno why, I downloading Civil War. And I like it. Then I started downloading many back issues from Marvel. Later I started buying again but TPB/HC only. No more single issues. I'm buying many Marvel TPB/HC (Secret War, House of M etc - all those big events plus Cap, DD, Iron Man, Avengers etc). As for DC I bought Superman, Green Lantern & GL Corps.

As of today, I'm still buying Marvel books. As for DC, only Green Lantern & GL Corps left (since Geoff Johns leave Supes...it's kinda boring). But Flashpoint is good. Gonna get it when the TPB on sale. As for Image or any publisher, I didn't bought any except few Hellboy & Groo TPB.

BTW, anyone know where Captain America: No Escape TPB still available? Kino & Borders BTS already finished.

I first caught on to CBMs through the first Batman and Superman movies.

But when it came to comics, it was always Marvel and X-Men in particular. I collected comics for about 2-3 years and then stopped. When the X-Men move came out, I thought it was the greatest thing ever. It was amazing seeing my favorite character, Cyclops on screen (despite him being underrated) together with the rest of the X-Men. I've recently gotten back into comics again and I'm relishing the Schism series. Issue 2 came out this week!

In terms of CBMs though, I can't see any movie surpassing what TDK did, commercially and critically. TDKR has a lot to live up to.

Now, if only the new X-Men movie franchise could believably weave Cyclops into the fold and do his character justice!

I've read it and it's pretty good, the best thing from Loeb for a long time and Art Adams is always great.

It is short though and basically setup introducing new characters and forming a team and then the book finished with issue 5 so we don't get to see what happens after they get together. I guess it depends how much of it Nick Spencer is going to use in the new Ultimate X-Men comic. I'd give it a B+.

I collected that too, but had to wait quite a while for each issue to be released. Agreed that the art is good and story was not bad, but felt that the final 2 issues were done in a rush. the art was there, but story was kinda rushed.

Adventure Comics is really rocking my world now. Snyder's writing is really intriguing and both Jock's and Francaavilla's art give the mood to the story in two different ways.

Added on August 6, 2011, 6:39 amWait..Snyder is ending his run of Detective Comics? Why? No!!!!! sad.gif

Not Jock too... His drawn cover is among the best IMHO..

As Evo said they are restarting all the comics in September but Snyder has been given Batman to write so no real difference there and you can stil enjoy Snyder writing Batman.

You can see all the new titles here: http://dcu.blog.dccomics.com/the-new-52/

Variant cover of Ultimate spidey

user posted image

Haul for today...

Attached Image

Ultimate Fallout is in normal polybag. In the issue #4 of Flashpoint, in the DC Nation column, Didio wrote this.. " with flashpoint, we knew we had an epic, reality shattering series that stood on its own, and had a natural conclusion that fed into the september relaunch (and no, i am not giving the last issue away" hmm.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif

Is this guy regular cast in Ultimate Spidey? I didn't follow USM post-Ultimatum.

BTW, it's feels weird that Spidey is not Pete. wink.gif

I don't think so, somebody should though or at least offer mail order, as far as I can tell only KL has proper comic shops so the rest of Malaysia would be extra business for them.

It may not hurt to email them and ask if they will send to you, I'm sure they'd accept the business. So poor though that retailers here have no web presence, not even a page on blogger or anything. Comics Corner have a Facebook page is the best you can find with Google, enter the 21st century guys!

Then tomorrow I'm off to SGTGCC11 despite its lacklustre lineup, hoping to find some good bargains there to make up for it.

My orders from Mile High usually takes about 2 weeks to arrive. My latest shipment which arrived today was released by Customs on the 17th, I ordered on the 5th of Aug. The delay could be due to Customs or KDN being slow in releasing the shipment.

Yeah customs are the wild card, I've had one book confiscated by them and two blacked out with the magic marker.

I'm 38 with two kids, they aren't really protecting my innocence by crossing out a drawing of a nipple in a comic. laugh.gif
