Hi guys, first time poster here.

I'm a big fan of Marvel comics (X-Men in particular). My favorite character is Cyclops.

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get a copy of X-Men Origins: Cyclops?

Writer:
Stuart Moore
Penciller:
Jesse Delperdang
Penciler:
Adi Granov
Orig. Published:
January 13, 2010
Format:
Comic
UPC:
5960607008-00111

I started collected comics from 10-13 years old and I'm trying to get back into it slowly. Sadly, the number of places that sell comic book paraphernalia have dwindled over the years.

I'll post my collection of comics and trading cards here soon, to share with everyone.

By the way. there's a DC Comics exhibit in Pavilion with lots of Green Lantern stuff. No comics, but worth visiting for the sight of the life size figurines I suppose.

Cheers bro. I'll check out Comics Corner in SS15 this weekend. Any idea what their operating hours are like? Tried calling them but no one answered.

I used to buy comics ages ago from DCM Comics in Subang (near the 3K Sports Complex) from this guy called Michael. And from this dude named Raymond near Leisure Mall, Cheras.

Anyone here ever come across them?

What did you guys think of First Class? I thought it was brilliant, if you can ignore the obvious continuity issues and lack of primary characters.

Thanks.

So the operating hours are the same on weekends too?

The Latino who had the typhoon like powers is Riptide.

The teleporting mutant is Azazel. In the comics he's actually Nightcrawler's father.

Added on June 9, 2011, 10:04 amAnyone going to get X-Men Schism in July? Looks and sounds good. This Cyclops-Wolverine feud draws parallels from Xavier-Magneto.

Should be epic.

X-Men : Origins Vol 1 and Vol 2 is available.

Vol 1 - Collects X-Men Origins: Colossus, Jean Grey, Beast, Wolverine, Sabretooth, and Gambit.

Vol 2 - Collects X-Men Origins Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Iceman, Emma Frost, Deadpool.

Another option ...

Thanks, I'll think about it.

Another gimmick to rejuvenate the brand.

More reason to get #544 then.

Schism #1 hits US stores on July 13 and the second issue is two weeks later.

Any idea when the first issue will reach KL?

Was just at CC Subang. Managed to get a copy of it!

Thanks dude.

Ended up buying 6 issues of various X-Men titles. It's tough getting back on the wagon!

The old idea of Blue & Gold teams was more logistics driven I suppose.

The new split is ideology driven. I suppose, like the old X-Force led by Cable with their more extreme methods vs the X-Men's "safe" approach.

Of course, this Schism comes with the added animosity of Cyclops and Wolverine.

Ordered from acmamall before, not all titles is cheap -- you gotta pick n choose.  Must benchmark with Kino.

Is Kinokuniya cheaper than MPH and Borders for TPBs?

Issue 2 of 5 is coming out this Wednesday. Looking forward to seeing how things escalate and what causes Cyclops and Wolverine's conflict.

I read also that Uncanny X-Men 1 won't feature Cyclops but will have Wolverine. The pessimist in me is crying out that this is a conspiracy to put Wolverine in all the x-books and marginalise Cyclops.

I first caught on to CBMs through the first Batman and Superman movies.

But when it came to comics, it was always Marvel and X-Men in particular. I collected comics for about 2-3 years and then stopped. When the X-Men move came out, I thought it was the greatest thing ever. It was amazing seeing my favorite character, Cyclops on screen (despite him being underrated) together with the rest of the X-Men. I've recently gotten back into comics again and I'm relishing the Schism series. Issue 2 came out this week!

In terms of CBMs though, I can't see any movie surpassing what TDK did, commercially and critically. TDKR has a lot to live up to.

Now, if only the new X-Men movie franchise could believably weave Cyclops into the fold and do his character justice!

Has anyone seen a copy of X-Men: Schism Part 3 anywhere? Went to the Comics Corner in Subang for the past two weeks and they hadn't brought it in. It was released two weeks ago.

Thanks. Had to reorder it from The Mind Shop. It's odd that my regular Comics Corner bring in less copies of part 3 onwards and they don't offer to reorder even second prints for you from their supplier. At least TMS attempts to. Signed up for a membership too. Safer that way, then I won't miss out on the rest of the series.

Also ordered some No. 1 issues of DC 52. Can't wait!

I just picked up my copy of Justice League #1 from TMS. It's a decent read and can't wait to see the confrontation between Batman and Superman in the next issue. I don't normally buy DC Comics but the good reviews and attraction of owning the No.1 issues has me hooked!

What did everyone else think?

Can't wait for the rest of the reboot issues!

Still annoyed I missed out on X-Men Schism Part 3 though. If anyone sees a copy, please let me know.

Hey guys,

Long-time lurker of the comics forum here, thought it was a good time to join the conversation and say hi to everyone! Been collecting comics since '94 and have recently re-discovered my passion for collecting comics!

Nice to see this thread is still active and indoctrinating new people!
We need more comicbook readers, especially young ones, to sustain the small industry here. Readers that I know are mostly mid-twenties and above.

Just to add to the conversation here, this is my list of what I read at the moment:

FLOPPIES

1. Batman
2. Detective Comics
3. Batman & Robin
4. SAGA (so good that it makes you question the quality of other titles)
5. Jupiter's Legacy

DIGITAL

1. Hawkeye
2. All New X-Men
3. Uncanny X-Men
4. Legend of Luther Strode
5. Sex
6. East of West
7. Red Hood & The Outlaws
8. Batman Incorporated
9. Nightwing
10. Batgirl
11. Superior Spider-Man
12. Age of Ultron
13. Justice League
14. Justice League of America
15. Chew (another great Image title)
16. Iron Man
17. Thor

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

1. Y: The Last Man
2. Sweet Tooth

Looking forward to Superman Unchained and Batman & Superman!

I thought i was the only crazy kollector in Malaysia, anyhow i have tons of single issues dating way back in the early 90s to late 2000s then lazy to collect singles but trying to komplete some of my series (current project is to fill in the gaps for SPAWN 1 to 100). now adays i'm more into HCs. have not really catalog my books but i guess i have more then 10k singles and a few hundred HCs. Some of my most valuable books that i own are: Sandman issue 1, Wolverine Mini issue 1 to 4 and some HCs which are already expensive in their own right. Good to know i'm not not alone wink.gif

I think we have passionate comic collectors in Malaysia, just not enough of them.

I shudder to think what will happen when the youngest of those collectors become 40-50 year olds and stop collecting. I can foresee the local comics industry evaporating in 10 - 15 years.

Contrast that with Singapore, which has a sizeable comics community despite the smaller population. It's remarkable that they have more comic stores than us and receive comic shipments EVERY week, ON TIME.

Even Hong Kong comic stores are cheaper and more timely than ours. Purely because the demand for comics locally is low.

Cannot really compare Malaysia to Singapore, no thanks to USD exchange rate.

Since the 1SGD is equivalent to 80 US cents, the comic shops there can price an average USD2.99 comic at SGD6.

If we use a dollar to dollar comparison, a comic costs a Singaporean half of what it costs us.

Since the average comic costs between RM12.60 - RM16.80, who la would want to get into the hobby? These are insane prices that only people like us would be willing to pay for what is essentially no more than 5-10 minutes' entertainment.

I know lots of people who have gained a newfound love for the medium thanks to the spate of quality Marvel movies over the past decade, but they are not willing to pay the prices for a floppy, much less a TPB, especially since illegal download sites and torrents are easily available online.

We simply need demand to increase to continue sustaining the local comics industry. And since we can't get demand to increase organically, perhaps one way to do it is for our LCS to lower prices to increase sales.

USD exchange rate has dropped significantly over the past two years but our LCS still charge us at a 4.2 rate.

If they charged us at cover price x the current exchange rate (3.3), it would be encouraging enough for some of us to increase orders and just maybe, encourage new readers. USD3.99 comics would be RM13.20 and USD2.99 ones would be RM9.90.

Or we just continue on this path and inevitably see the demise of the Malaysian comics community in a decade or so.

Anyone know any local comic readers in their teens? I don't. Lowering prices would definitely help them get started.
