QUOTE(ElizabethT @ Nov 18 2012, 11:09 AM) thanks Leeyung for the enlightentment. btw, i will probably need you next month. my momo is alone now. so i need to get momo some brothers n sisters none fish eat poo XDwhat is the function of zabra? i saw some in orange colour in lfs. at 1st, i thought of tectra, cause nice ma..hahaha..put in 6-7ekor..then otto to avoid algae boom, and cory i tot eat poo...wht fish eat poo?'''wana to get sttg to eat poo beside filter alone. current tank 50cm set up with coral sand ( oe need to add some other sand??), small kapcai led light (duno sufficient for few momos or not (after get frm lyung nx mth), and a filter hob 600l/hr. temperature during aircon is 23-25, and without aircon is 25-27. Added on November 18, 2012, 11:16 ambtw, to add on, between otto and chinese (golden algae eater), both have the same funtions? read from some google info, said its the same, just GAE size will be getting bigger, who is more effective? or perhaps i take 1 gae and 1 otto??\\ sory ya,,asked a lot noob q If you have another plants beside of marimo, poo is good for their nutritions if you dont like, then syphon the poo by using a small hose (really efficient!) by sucking them via ur mouth (but don't swallow it!) when your tank is still new, remember to give ur bottom fishes some food, like algae wafers if you don't have algae in ur tank yet, give the otto cucumber, drowned it to the bottom by binding it to a small stone my otto eat cucumber in the first time, now they always eat algae/slime in the tank. Only feed the Bettas now.. I think u don't want to add Chinese Algae Eater, because when they're getting Bigger they sometimes kills other small fish... |

QUOTE(Azure_Fox @ Nov 18 2012, 11:38 AM) none fish eat poo XD I think this method work well for betta owner as betta's poo is large If you have another plants beside of marimo, poo is good for their nutritions if you dont like, then syphon the poo by using a small hose (really efficient!) by sucking them via ur mouth (but don't swallow it!) |

1.if i keep in inside my room with no sunlight,no aircon, light just from my ceiling lamp(means i will turn it off when i sleep, and turn it on when i'm awake). Is it enough for them? 2.i want to put little fish inside with marimo,What type of fish u guys suggest?just wanna put 1 or 2 with it to make it more lively lol. But i dont have filter and other aquarium things. Just square like container, can i do it? PS: betta fish seems the best, betta+marimo look so cutee!!but, can betta live with my condition? QUOTE(Azure19 @ Nov 19 2012, 11:02 AM) Hey guys, newbie here. I am interested in these cute balls 1. marimo must avoid sunlight, use desk lamp (4-8 hours a day). for 10 hours more. algae may growth. No aircon : as long as the temperature is less than 28 Celcius Degree I guess..1.if i keep in inside my room with no sunlight,no aircon, light just from my ceiling lamp(means i will turn it off when i sleep, and turn it on when i'm awake). (using tap water, light just from ceiling lamp,no filter and other equipment) Thanks before 2. Betta don't need filter, well but use filter is better. Remember to cycle ur aquarium first when u use filter. without filter u must change the water once/twice a week, depend on the size of ur aquarium, for 5 gallon minimum u change the water every once a week. for less than 5 gallon, u need to change the water twice a week (25-50% every water change). Minimum size of Betta's aquarium is 1 Gallon, never ever put Betta in a glass/small bowl/a vase, Betta won't be happy and have a short life span. About lamp for betta, a proffesional breeder suggest me to give sunlight on Betta every morning only for 30 minutes, to keep the colour vibrance ;p hehehe. But u can't let ur marimo out for sunlight at that time. This post has been edited by Azure_Fox: Nov 19 2012, 08:41 PM |

QUOTE(fruitknife @ Dec 1 2012, 12:43 AM) Leave them long enough in the sun and they'll never pearl.Give em a water bath + massage, cycle the water inside the marimos out so they get fresh water on the inside, then expose them to a cool, strong white light. If you have something agitating the water like a bubbler or filter that will make it hard for bubbles to accumulate. The light needs to be quite strong to get a good amount, too. I think in your case this needs to be said; don't over do it, be patient. It's possible to love your marimos to death. And NO MORE SUN!! |

QUOTE(fruitknife @ Dec 2 2012, 08:44 AM) Thanks fyi. Will respond when it starts pearling For plants hobby, one need to be patient and not expect immediate response from the plant especially Marimos, plant unlike animal, which most of the symptoms/processes are very significantly observed in a short time. Either the "greeness" of the Marimo vary according to water parameter (Tank setup) it doesnt matter of dark or light, as long as green, u have nothing to worry. Oh, and is dark green better or light green better? |
