yea deep inside I knew there werent much options...garrret sounds the most feasible apart from changing the block, the rods......sigh might as well get a audi/ or 335 like jwrx did..... coz its like taking forever to come.... the R.....
oh btw has anyone seen a bugatti SS in the flesh here in malaysia...maybe the lucky ones in jb might have...pinnacle of what a car should be......even grandma can drive it at 300++ km/hr

haha...i know what you are talking about..... whistling.gif

300 at wheel for a GTI...is not really possible without so much money dumped in that you might as well have gotten a R and chipped it to stage 1

I know im starting to sound like broken record, but modding a GTI for more BHP is just not worth it, even if you get 260+ bhp..the "feel" at high speeds is totally diffrent.

for RM210k, the GTI to me is the hands down winner, if anyone wants a easily chipped, 200+ bhp pocket rocket. But its when ppl try to go beyond Stage 1...and start pumping in money to stage 2,...then 3...thats when i feel, should have just bought a car with more power in the first place

my old mk5..i had this problem...at high speeds...ppl would move left to let me pass, but it would take a while b4 i get enuff speed to pull pass, so for a while, theres this dangerous situation of 2 cars side by side at high speeds, with no room for error....but with tasha, just a simple kickdown and im pass.

A higher capacity engine definitely has the advantage especially when it comes to high speeds, like on the highway.

Smaller engines like the 2.0 Turbo found in Golf GTI's are good for town driving, and on lower than 220 km/h speeds.

you talking about stability or quietness ?

yesterday drove to melaka, followed a 2004 accord until 200km/h but he did not give way, so tried to overtake on the left but dun have time and got a corner, afterwards only found out that his car is the 3.0 V6 version sweat.gif

yes in term of quiteness camry win big time over gti, but it seems like when you are on180km/h with camry the speed are hardly increase to 200km/h not like gti u press a bit still in climbing although it is slowly..

In term of stability gti win over camry, camry 200km/h i feel scared oo mcm bawak kapal terbang.. Gti superb mantap keras.. But it cant never challenge audi a4 2.0T haha seriously handling and stability audi the best.. keras semacam oo

2.0 Turbo engines still on par if not better than anything below 2.5

Anything above 2.5, that's a different story.

The Passat's NVH is almost the same as Camry/Accord. smile.gif

Stability wise, much better than the 2 Japanese makes.

passat cc's engine and gbox is the same as gti
nvh maybe better than gti

bigger cc still plays an important role? then why gtr with 3.8L can reach top speed same as 5.0L and above?

Hi guys! I am experiencing a "clanking" type of sound on my GTI coming from the rear but could not identify where it is coming from. The problem is that I could hear it occasionally when I go over bumps or uneven roads. Sometimes it is dead quiet and occasionally, the sound could be heard. Brought my car back to the SC but could not reproduce the sound when I wuz there. They checked the absorber, links, etc and everything wuz ok. Any bros out there experiencing the same problem? Cheers!

Actually quite curious about this video as well coz I know a guy who traded in his Stage 2 Roc for a Cayman S. Says its a hell a lot faster though, on and off the track. But a Stage 3 GTI Mk5, curious whats under the hood. Either a KO4 or a Garret turbo swap out as well

Just came back from a trip to Singapore in the GTI. Did not really speed but was able to get there within 3 hours. Not bad at all, don't regret a single cent I paid for the car. Stuff of note that happened during my trip:

1 - Before anyone asks, no I didn't buy anything car related over there. No money
2 - Curbed a wheel. Stoooopid narrow Singapore roads
3 - My wife drove back to KL. She is even worse than me ... super aggressive and I bet we were on the receiving end of a few curse words from other drivers

A good thing out of all the above? My wife asking me this: "How much was that stage 1 upgrade you were talking about?" rclxms.gif

Donno whether it is the same sound but try checking your rear seats (you know our seats can fold and all that). Is it properly snapped back at its place? I'm suggesting this cause this was the main cause of weird sounds in my car. It was driving me nuts but as it turned out, the car wash fellas just didn't click the seats back at its proper place. I know it sounds stupid but have a look lah. Who knows.

Hope this works out for you.
