Sigh. This forum is becoming too political and tense. Chill guys. We are here to share our knowledge and the love for our rides. Let's keep it that way.

"If VW are to be responsible for this kinda stuff, then Apple should be responsible towards me as well as I bought the Ipad and the Ipad2 was launched a week later. Or Michelin should be held liable cos I bought PS2s and PS3s were released shortly after that. There is simply no end to it"
I am afraid that your analogies are not accurate. The added features on the new GTI's are merely added features and not a change in model like your Apple and Michelin analogies. Responsible companies like Apple will normally launch a new product several weeks or months before the availability of the new product. In that time, the consumers are well informed of the model change and current generation products will normally be heavily discounted. All Apple retailers gave a BIG discount on the ori IPad upon the announcement of the Ipad2.
I believe VWM should have informed their customers of the new features at no price revision so that we could make an informed decision. The added features are too hush-hush and not at all well communicated or publicized. Those who bought the earlier batch of GTIs without the upgrades will naturally feel cheated due to the way VW handled the issue.

QUOTE(futobuta @ Jun 14 2011, 05:44 PM) Aiyah.... what do u expect them to do? Business is like that lah.... If they tell u before hand, then who's gonna buy the old stock? If Canon told everyone the launch date of their new models, who's gonna buy the old ones? At least they extended the 5yr Road Assist thing to old users. With all due respect, there is always an ethical way of doing business. I am a huge photography buff and know for a fact that Canon and Nikon will always announce new models several months in advance. There will still be people buying the current stock as some people could not wait and old models will be discounted. A camera is a relatively cheap investment as compared to a GTI and have every reason to expect VW to keep their customers well informed. Added on June 14, 2011, 6:07 pmTo all sifus out there. Anyone with experience on the Swiss Chiptech chip tuning product? Any piggyback system to recommend? Very tempted to remap but am afraid that it might void the warranty. You guys definitely have a point. However, it does not mean that we should accept the situation just because it is the norm and the fact that we are a small country with small demands. We did not pay any less for our cars than any developed nations and any great multi-national company should treat all customers equally irrespective of geography. I am not saying that VGM is obliged to do anything for us. I am just saying that they could have done more for us.
For the record, I am still very happy with my purchase. It is still one of the best car out there for the money. It is always ok to expect more from our dealers but it does not mean that I am angry with them or feel unhappy about my purchase of the GTI. Happy driving guys!

QUOTE(eetony @ Jun 16 2011, 08:36 PM) Has any1 vinyl wrap (carbon, gloss, mat black) your vw roof? does it get scratch easily (the gloss type) & hard to mantain? looks nice from the pic below Hi bro. I just got my tornado red GTI's roof wrapped with gloss black vinyl. I would not recommend gloss black as it will scratch very easily although it looks pretty nice from afar. The installation itself will scratch the gloss black vinyl. I am gonna get it changed to Carbon finish next week. Should be a lot easier to maintain.

QUOTE(ultimax5 @ Jun 16 2011, 04:54 PM) aerotec brought up a very good point. This is a quality issue, not from abuse, not wear and tear, it's just poor quality and they should fix it at no cost to us. In fact, it's already costing us alot of time since we'd have to bring our cars in and probably leave it there for half a day or more. And on top of that they wanna charge us RM200?? That's a rip-off! My SC did it for free for me. The silicon lining has eliminated all noises from the rubber seals. Great job and kudos to the Veemer SC!

QUOTE(rosizzat1000 @ Jun 18 2011, 07:42 PM) Which shop u done it?? I saw someone car last nite using sticker also.. Cannot see he is using sticker.. Not scratchy also.. he told the installer to do it nice n slowly.. I did mine at motorsport playground. The scratches are more apparent when seen under bright lights. The matte and carbon fiber finish film should not have the same problem. Kudos to MP for doing the replacement for free to matte film or a slight extra for the CF finish.

Had a really pleasant visit to the Veemer SC this morning. They managed to rectify all my complains in the most professional and friendly way! Kudos to Steven the SC guy and Ah Kin the mechanic. Great job! I would also highly recommend my SA, Sam to anyone interested to get a VW. Great service so far. Let's hope they keep it up.

QUOTE(pelvin @ Jun 21 2011, 12:59 AM) what type of complain? the steven guys is really friendly.. Yes. He is and pretty helpful. There was a tick-tick-tick sound near the driver's seat. They initially though it was the black door panels but it wasn't so. They took some time to discover that it was something loose inside the seatbelt adjuster that was causing the sound. They also helped me tighten the rear seats that were causing some rattling sound and reprogramed the side mirrors to open faster from the folded position.

QUOTE(Mavik @ Jun 23 2011, 05:12 PM) Personally I would go with the remap rather than a chip tuning box. My key criteria about the remaps is that the fellas who do the remap for you or even if you decide to go with the chip tuning box, understands Golfs enough to help trouble shoot problems that you might have or even with problems you might have before you remap/add in the chip tuning box. There are no best best because you haven't given us your preference in terms of driving style. Some people like a smooth curve in power or some people just want the best performance in terms of horsepower and torque. Some people don't mind not having the most power but like a better drive and smooth gear shifts. Thanks for the info bro. It is highly appreciated. I am one who does not mind having max power but a reasonable increase with a smooth curve in power. I would go for remap in a second but fear that I might void the warranty. A tuning box on the other hand is reversible. Which remap would you recommend? Apr? Exotic? Others? Cheers! Added on June 23, 2011, 8:07 pmOops... It should have read "I am one who does not mind (not) having max power..." This post has been edited by Gti23: Jun 23 2011, 08:07 PM

Hi guys! I am experiencing a "clanking" type of sound on my GTI coming from the rear but could not identify where it is coming from. The problem is that I could hear it occasionally when I go over bumps or uneven roads. Sometimes it is dead quiet and occasionally, the sound could be heard. Brought my car back to the SC but could not reproduce the sound when I wuz there. They checked the absorber, links, etc and everything wuz ok. Any bros out there experiencing the same problem? Cheers!
