QUOTE(Mavik @ Jun 30 2011, 10:19 AM) Roll back? When? On a hill slope? Your electronic brakes did not engage? Added on June 30, 2011, 10:36 amIf I am not mistaken, Wearnes sells the Akrapovic exhaust in their Sungai Besi branch. Best to call and verify first. Added on June 30, 2011, 10:45 amBila you getting the H&R springs hey i am a bit confused lah .. which is the OEM VW springs manu ? some said Eibach does it for VW.... then suddenly i c ppl say H&R is the best for compatibility (for the 2.0 DCC function)..... and of coz VW will say use VWR sport springs for warranty to b intact .... so many decisions to make.... today gotta decide to buy the 27" imac low end model or the 27" imac high end model (diff onli processor speed & graphic card memory ... ) still weighing which is value for money .... *sigh*... lolx This post has been edited by Yan: Jun 30 2011, 10:50 AM

Had a mini freak out session this morning with my Golf TSI while driving to work.
Was stuck at a traffic light jam on a hill when I realized the car rolls back when you let go of the brakes - even when I was on 'D', and even when I was lightly tapping the accelerator.
Almost knocked into the car behind me.
Is this normal? I ended up having to balance out the handbrake and the accelerator as if I'm driving a manual (yes I know DSG is essentially a manual, but wasn't expect it to work like this.)
How do you guys deal with this "characteristic" of the car? I was thinking maybe if you don't play with the handbrake, it may be possible to just hold on to the foot brakes, and floor the accelerator a little harder instead.

if you depress fully your brake pedal, your hill control "should" engage. But i treat the DSG as a manual and always pull my handbrake on slopes..anyway..its good practice
if u pull your handbrake 100% of the time on slopes, then u dont have to worry whether u gonna roll back or not, it just becomes habit

Like jwrx said handbrake it and when you release, the hill assist would take hold immediately but only for 2-3 seconds, but lets say you forgot to hand brake it but foot brake and when you let go it starts rolling back...it would roll back for only a short distance before the hill assist takes hold UNLESS the idiot-to-be behind you is too freakin near your car then you will definitely kiss your paint job goodbye This post has been edited by dasauto: Jun 30 2011, 06:54 PM

QUOTE(phas3r @ Jun 29 2011, 08:35 PM) what is your mileage now? hmm your car 4 yr old, if the tires unchanged since new sure must change, even if the treads are good. are you on 19"? that's gonna burn a huge hole in your pocket. and yes, repair and maintenance first, and then only mods congrats~ caractere rims are nice nice to see you here. main reason going for R is AWD, you can always make a GTI faster than R. (not sure of potential of the R though) Hey ! Yea ... Friends been saying the GTI is more than enough . Can save the extra money for mods . Thinking of adding HKS Super SQV III Blow off valve and do a simple ECU upgrade to bypass the fuel cut . Other than that , it's just rims and maybe suspension ? But I'm happy for the way the car is , But of course the R rear lights and Xenon headlights ( optional for GTI in Aussie ) are a bonus =D
