No, I don't like to solve problems. When the maths becomes partial differential equations, or some series, it's too abstract and takes too long for me to solve. I could take one day to one week to solve an engineering course problem in the past. I think the good EE is expected to do it within the hour. I guess a good EE must be a Mensa member.
I don't like to do things where I don't receive feedback about my work. Such as I don't know how long I'll take to solve my engineering problem because I don't know whether I'm correctly working towards the answer. I don't like to feel lost, like I didn't know what the right answer was, and how to derive it. I don't like that I was expected to be independent in Uni, because how independent was I expected to be? If I had to figure out myself how solve my textbook problems, then I might as well not go to Uni, might as well have taken a distance learning degree course.
I'm really an unskilled EE. I'm trying to improve my skills by learning my course on my own time, all over again. But I still feel lost, just like in the past.

If one wants to improve communication skills, I suggest joining a club like toastmaster that helps one improve their English and also confidence.

If you work in KL you might want to attend the club located in KL. Currently I am attending the club located at Taman SEA PJ. I am a VP Public Relation so my job is to go clubbing. . There is one club wher they held their meeting in a club....Yes literally a club where you have to pay cover charge...Happening la. Im addition to that there is also tostmaster held in mandarin and bahasa melayu. But it will not be recognised internationally. The international speaking competition uses English. Hi, I'm in toastmasters Cyberjaya district. Feel free to drop if you want to learn more about the club True enough, it drills your leadership & communication skills. If you put your efforts into it you will find it working. But if you're the self-confident person who has the mentality of "I'm good enough and this is bullsh*t", then I'm afraid there's no room for improvement for you. Like they say from the Zen teachings: "The hardest obstacle to learning something new, is the belief that you already know it" This post has been edited by KeNNy: Dec 30 2006, 01:35 AM

Toastmaster's has a presence in most Cyberjaya MNC's like Shell, DHL, MSC, Intel, etc. You can actually pay any of those a visit if you have enough information on their schedule. I'm in the Shell one.

Very useful book I found earlier this year. A lot of unconventional wisdom and overall good advice for any jobhunters or people planning on a total change of career. Although it looks as if it's targeted to American readers at first, you'll see that things inside actually works for most MNCs in Malaysia, as per what a couple of friends in different MNCs HR departments told me.
