Do update if your new set is in a sealed retail box or a different than the retail box when you've got it.

Added on May 6, 2011, 9:31 pmJust checked my iPad. Got minor light bleeding definitely not as pad as the one on first post. But spotted 2 dead pixels. Damn.

According to this link, the screen bleeding is due to the LG produced units.

If the news is true, then those without the problem will not be IPS panel? Or Samsung does indeed have access to IPS technology?

Just exchange my one to one after call to Apple Care and talk to the nice branch manager. They exchange it to me. The light leaking issue still there but not that serious compare to my previous unit. This really suck me.

The new unit i get is do not have scratches line. So the incharge person give me the FOC leather case have to return to him. He said he need to report it to his boss that the scratches is not did by me.

But the finish is not that good. I spot something when i reach home. Certain area seal at the edge between the metal with the glass panel is not nice. But is acceptable, nothing is prefect. Even my iPhone 4 can slide RM1 inside.

After LG screens for the iPad 2 exhibited issues with light leakage at launch, Apple shifted most of its touchscreen purchases instead to Samsung.

Samsung shipped four million 9.7-inch panels for the iPad in the first quarter, according to DigiTimes. That total put it ahead of rival LG Display and made samsung the largest touchscreen supplier for Apple.

LG only shipped 3.2 million units in the quarter, as there was a light leakage problem with panels produced at the company's sixth-generation production lines. Sources told the Taiwanese publication that LG has addressed issues with light leakage, and "shipment momentum" is expected to return to the company in the second quarter.

After the iPad 2 launched in March, some users reported issues with light leaks and yellowing on the tablet's 9.7-inch display. Some early iPad 2 units showed light leaking onto the screen around its bezel when displaying a dark image, sometimes referred to as a "flashlight effect."

Apple experienced crushing demand for the iPad 2 after it debuted, and has continued to struggle in restocking units. Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook referred to the situation in his company's quarterly earnings conference call as "the mother of all backlogs."

He also admitted that he wishes Apple could have produced a lot more iPad 2 units, as the company sold every device it managed to manufacture following its launch window. But he stopped short of confirming any specific component issues or shortages in the manufacturing process.

"Demand has been staggering, and I'm not going to predict when supply and demand will come into balance," he said. "I can only be confident on the supply side.

It seems that the faulty LCD's were produced by LG. This really pisses me off. From now on I will boycott all LG's products. By the way I just refunded my ipad 2. Will buy again when the money is successfully debited back into my account.

In this image... assuming the home bottom is at the bottom. One on the middle another on the top left. Not exactly obvious, but since I'm paying 2k for this Apple tablet I expect it to be fault free.

For the images, refer to this link.

Went to QCD this morning and was told to leave my unit there. I had a little chat with the fella there and they don't ven wanna check mine. Just leave it and we will sent it to Singapore where it will be checked and replaced if necessary. I'm gonna call Apple and ask for them to send me one if possible.

It appear that Apple Call Center is not operating today. Will call on Monday.

This why I prefer to deal direct to Apple. Since people can keep their unit while Apple sends a new one over.

Machines KLCC told me the same. I manage to change new unit. The problem is still there. Nothing we can do right not. Sit and wait for apple to ship a new LED panel to their appointed service center. After that just send the ipad2 for repair.

This is a serious turnoff for potential ipad2 buyers like me to hear such issues.

Oh well, If i ordered from Apple.com.my, can I ask for a 1 to 1 exchange if there is any screen bleeding? This is totally unacceptable to be paying cash and yet screen bleeding -,-
