Mine one more funny. two rate for one day different only.

i use my credit card at taiwan. why there is a big differrent exchange rate for two days?

visa at that day is around rm1= twd9(100twd= 11.11)

5 January 2014-sunday watson, twd1206 = rm123.68. the rate is 9.75(100twd=10.15) (extremely high)

6 January 2014-monday watson, twd399 = rm 44.04, the rate is 9.05 (100twd=11.04)(same like visa)

6 January 2014-monday aso shoes, twd 13531 = rm1493, the rate is 9.05 (same like visa), if they give me 9.75 like 5 january-sunday, credit card will only charge me rm1388.

why the rate is different? is that sunday rate is lower? any body know abot it? i ask aeon cs, and she give me a stupid answer. all refer to visa rate. i think someone call visa to ask about it?

6 January 2014-monday watson, twd399 = rm 44.04, the rate is 9.05 (100twd=11.04)(same like visa)

Posting Date: 7th (Tuesday) Visa Rate = 0.108989

Since the posting dates were different, not a surprise the rates are different. But what surprised me is the transaction where it was posted on 6th Jan, where your effective rate was lower than Visa' rate but not the case for the transaction posted on 7th January.

So I can conclude that somehow they do not follow Visa's rate but their own system.



This makes sense unlike bear bear's where his conversion rate is really really unbelievable making him the luckiest person on earth.

Sometimes I wonder about timing differences.

Say you buy an online purchase from Amazon at 1am 17-Jan Malaysia time.
That makes it 9am 16-Jan California time.

Does the Visa rate take 17-Jan or 16-Jan?

for my case, the transition on friday, saturday and sunday, effective rate is 0.10255 which is lower than visa rate
for transition on monday the rate is same as visa rate.
bear bear transition oso on friday and get the super low rate.

so can conclude that friday or weekend will get super low rate compare to weekday. hehe.

namh's above transaction posted on Wednesday which was Public Holiday - unless Indonesia not a public holiday.

Same as CoffeeDude transaction posted on 16 January which falls on a Thursday where both effective rate higher than Visa's.

You might just be right, AEON cards go haywire on weekends, hahaha. But your effective rate was not super low but near spot rate whereas bear bear's USD/MYR rate was really unbelievable.

Let's see more results, everyone - please spread your transactions with your AEON cards to fall on weekdays and weekends.

I have rhb signature visa and mbb2 amex cards.

During oversea, for weekday, i should use rhb signature visa to swipe, because visa got better currency rate plus rhb signature got 1% rebate, am i right?

For weekend, is it mbb2 amex the best choice? Is the currency rate after 5% rebate still better than rhb signature visa card?
