I see, meaning that TnG visa is also 0% on forex now? so both TnG visa and gxbank will have the same rate?

The early reports shared in this post reveal that TnG's rates were more expensive than Visa's.

Anyway, since Visa has higher rates than Mastercard, so it's best to use Mastercard for foreign transactions.

Hi all, wonder if anyone ever withdraw cash from GX card in overseas? Easily to find supported ATM ?
Going abroad soon and plan to withdraw cash in overseas. Got GX card but not WISE. Thinking if only GX card is sufficient for me.

My OCBC RM told me there’s no bank charges/fee for non RM transactions on the Voyage card. So it’s not correct?

I’ve not tested it yet

The bank can argue that it’s not technically a fee, it’s simply not the most favorable forex rate. icon_idea.gif

The fact says otherwise.
You can test it yourself if you have access to Voyage.

Suppose the visa/masters card rates would be the same rate applied to all cards at a particular date?

I will test it on my next trip out.
Ocbc advertised on their website that there’s no bank fees charged.

Probably. If you have the OCBC 90°N Visa then maybe you could help to test it out. Visa currency calculator will reveal how much bank fee is being applied.

All cards can be universally referenced via the respective VISA / Mastercard forex calculator. Tweak the bank fee value to find the closest to what is being charged to you.

Voyage is touted as 0% foreign exchange mark-up which in a way true as it is not a forex mark up. Probably some other fees that is being applied here.
Have seen CIMB TWE having the same 0% claim but at the end members reported seeing some bank fee applied. My own testing, I saw 1.23% applied to TWE. While another member reported 0.93%, whatever it is - it is not 0% as claimed by the bank. Even the CIMB CS defended this 0% as probably they rely on the bank script. Real world testing reveals the actual fact.

Thanks for sharing actual transaction experience!

I do not have the OCBC 90°N Visa Card .

I will try a small amount on the Voyage Card and call out OcBc on the misleading claim on zero transaction fee, if any. I called CS Hotline and was told we will only Pay what Master Card charges the bank.

Updating the forex info for CIMB TWE based on new information received -

240129 JPY 1.23%
240415 USD 0.93%
240407 KRW 0%

One member mentioned several post back that the bank fee rate was 0.93% and this confirms that data. What's interesting here is that it appears that depending on what's the forex, different bank fee will be applied.

This could be due to the time zone difference between the settlement and your transaction.

The forex rate is set on the day the transaction is settled and posted to your account, which can take one to three days after you make the payment.

TnG Visa is having a 2% cashback [1% for online payments] campaign for overseas spending till 31 Dec 2024.

Should be better than GXBank for now.

Update:

OCBC 24/07/24 Voyage MC USD 10 = RM47.83, Bank Fee 2.25%

Seems OCBC will return a rebate after around 45 days for Voyage. After this rebate, the adjusted bank fee % value to the transaction above would only be 1%.
Still not 0% as advertised though.

Very good rate from CIMB Travel Currency. I tried for some currencies, seems better than mastercard/visa rate.
