Yes, it's the Platinum Mastercard you referred to from RinggitPlus link. However, I applied directly to the branch.

The 0% markup on all overseas transactions is not a promotion, but it's one of the card features according to Bank Rakyat's website.

i just made 2 payments in pound, 1 on sat and 1 on sun. below here are the conversion rate from bigpay and master card website.

Tx Date Tx Amount (GBP) BigPay Charge (RM) BigPay Rate MasterCard Charge (RM) MasterCard Rate
2018-07-21 124.15 656.39 5.28707 661.76 5.330361
2018-07-22 88.38 468.74 5.30369 471.10 5.330361

I have no idea whats the formula from bigpay on converting GBP to MYR. But it seems lower than the mastercard rate and no admin fee.

I have did a comparison before between ambank VI and WMC and WMC foreign exchange rate was quite a bit better. This was amost 3 years ago and I am not sure currently if WMC is still the best. It would be nice to know latest rates too : )

Hi guys, say I need to buy something online in USD. I have citibank, uob and HLA Mach credit card. Which one should I use that have better conversion rate to MYR?

I saw the admin fees of both citibank and uob is the same, 1%. So does this means it will depend on the bank foreign conversion rate?

Also, does buying on weekday versus weekends have any difference? I recall reading something about maybank charging higher admin fees for weekend transaction, I could be wrong.

Thanks in advance!

I think, right now, the best card for that is BigPay. And I think Bank Raykat also have a card that's probably as good as Bigpay when it comes to currency conversion & charges.

In that case be prepared to pay about at least 2% higher than Bigpay.

basically all three cards charging rate is very similar. However, it is upto the extra benefits you will gain from those cards. for instance, if you are having citibank rewards signature or UOB visa infinite, then you can gain 5x points from overseas currency spending.

typically no "extra" different charges on weekend, just their posting date will be on later.

hope this helps.

Does Maybank VISA CC charge us for refund? Admin fee? The posted refund amount in foreign currency is same as the the purchase amount.

This is what happened to me. Based on VISA exchange rate and Posting Date

(Purchase) Jul 3: 1 USD = MYR 4.044596 + 2.25%
(Refund) Jul 29: 1 USD = MYR 4.073593 - 2.5%

I thought I will get more when receive my refund due to higher USD, but in fact, I received much much lesser.

a little bit confused here, based on the Oppa Sharing FB, the amount it gets only charges 1.25% by PBB which matches,
but recently swapped credit card in japan

Amount: JPY12,200
transaction date:27/07/18
mastercard currency rate:0.36693 w/o any bank fee
posted 01/08/18: RM456.21 (0.37394) diff 1.91%

so the different around 1.91%, the extra 0.91% is due to mastercard converted JPY to USD then back to MYR,
or mastercard did also charges for exchange fee?

but if based on Oppa Sharing FB example, he got only 1.25% total which is the bank admin fee only? abit confused.

1 to 1.25% is purely only bank admin fee only.

Please question him or the bank CS.
I'm just sharing.

The 1.25% for PBB is actually matching the number in Post#1 of Page#1

Hi, What about bank charges for AEON CC? I have the AEON BiG gold which has 2% cashback for overseas transaction. Deliberating between this and Ambank WMC to use overseas.

David83, the rate is misleading.
Some bank published rates are different from the charged rates.
Better remove.
