Got a question on insurance claim.
Parent is the policy owner and also the second life assured
Assured person is the child.

Now the child is working and paying tax, can the child use this as life insurance tax relief? Or it is only parent who is the policy owner can claim tax relief ?

Edit: It is a life insurance policy

If the parent is the one paying then only the parent can claim tax relief.

I don't think so. It's only valid for the YA printed on the receipt.

Hi guys,

I've yet to receive an EA form from my previous employer which I left middle of last year. Is there something that can be done? They seem oblivious to the fact that they need to prepare one for me even though I left mid last year?

Any advice?

Thanks!

Does EPF Voluntary Self Contribution allowed to be added to the Statutory EPF Contribution for Tax deductions.

I.e. EPF + Insurance = RM 3000 - RM 4000.

So made EPF Voluntary Self Contribution RM 2000 add to the amount for tax deductions?

You should ask your HR, which university he/she graduated from...
As a person with diploma/degree in HR, he/she should know better ...

Do it the filing, if after relief & rebate deduction and you have overpaid, you can claim for refund.

People are getting their refunds via cheque or direct bank-in already for those early bird users of E-Filling.

Do I need to do anything for them to refund? All these while I thought it can be credited into the following year. doh.gif This is my first time with overpaid tax.
Oh and I used e-filling. Did it last month around 2nd week of march.

Rental income need to declare right? What if the property is shared with 2 person, e.g. the property under myself and wife's name, and financed under both our names..

How to declare? Can split 50-50 or declare under single person name??
*
My parents is exactly the same scenario. When I do the income tax for them, I get the total rental income for the year and deduct all the expenses for the year. Then the net income divide it by two. Type it nicely, print it and keep it for file.

Return the self assessment e-filing (e-BE).

If overpaid, LHDN will send you a cheque for the overpaid month. Starting this year, if you keyed in bank details in the e-BE, you'll get money through file transfer.

All bankslah.
However it is most important to note the the spelling of your name in your tax file is EXACTLY the same as the one in your bank account eg if using bin both must use bin and not one using bin an the other b. Bank will reject.

I put in Maybank Account with the same Account Name as my Tax File name... they still send me a cheque.
My gut feeling is that LHDN uses CIMB Islamic as their bank account (cheque was issued by CIMB Islamic), thus my conclusion to use CIMB if you prefer direct bank transfer.
