Over here in Ipoh we're still in the 2Mbps sub-era back in this dead town!

Thanks to the absence of a extensive fibre network it's preventing all over us here from getting anything over 5mbps unless you can lease a metro ethernet line.

The average speed Ipoh is getting based on Netindex?
1.56Mbps. laugh.gif

Even towns like Kota Bharu, Bukit Mertajam, Rawang, Kulim beat us to it.

http://www.netindex.com/download/2,26/Malaysia/

Average speeds in Ipoh by ISPs:

Jaring - 4.38Mbps
TMnet - 2.11Mbps
Maxis - 1.81Mbps
P1 - 1.25Mbps
TM ADSL(Streamyx) - 0.97Mbps!!! <--This is what most Ipoh Streamyx users are getting.

http://www.netindex.com/download/4,7240/Ipoh/

Bijan and Muhyiddin came to this dead town for what a few weeks back?
Just to have a bus ride and dine?
CSL came to Little India on Deepavali for what?

Hi every one, just want to tell your a story...

I just apply for 4Mbps combo package from 1Mbps last Wednesday (2nd Nov), and they said in their system my place support 4Mbps and technician should come to my house to do the testing if the line in my house can support 4Mbps or not.

So today I call 100 at 3:30pm ask them when will the technician come? they check for me and said as the record the technician have an appointment with me at 11am today and already report back that my place not supported 4mbps, they ask me whether got any call from the technician or not, my answer is definitely no! so they gave me the number of the technician.

I then called the technician and once I tell him my place he answered me right away that my area not 4Mbps, I then ask him if my place not supported then why I can apply in the first place? he said he already tested 3 house in my area and none of them speed can reach 4Mbps....

I argue with him and finally he said will come to my house in half an hour... after half an hour I call him, he just simply tell me not coming today, cause your place is too far, and he told no point he come cause he was so sure that my place not support 4Mbps streamyx!!! WTF!! what kind of service is that?? say coming and suddently say no point to come....I ask why like that and he answer me your place is a KAMPUNG area(it is a kampung) and bla bla bla same reason as the previous call he told me... he even said that TM ask him not to come... WTF again???

anyway, I insist him to come to my place and do the testing!! he finally said can come only next wednesday....

Before I complaint to TM about this guy, I will wait till wednesday and see is that my place really no 4Mbps...

Since he so sure my place no 4Mbps speed, I went through alot of thread... and found that my line should be able to get the speed of 4Mbps...

here is the ADSL line statistic... is someone can give me some idea that my line is it really so so sure not support 4Mbps and no need to test my line?

Dude, my line has a 39.8-40.1dB attenuation and I've no problem using my 4mbps line.No sudden dropouts whatsoever. There are more who are using 4mbps even with much higher attenuation lv.

To qualify you just need to have an attenuation of <40dB.

I don't see why you can't get 4mbps since you're already on ADSL2+ modulation unless the DSLAM in your area is underfed.

High chance of being able to get 4Mbps. The stats are reasonably good and you're already connected to an ADSL2+ DSLAM.

Wow... Glad to know that... just hope that the technician won't just call me and say that my place can't get 4Mbps for sure without coming to my house and do the test! Looking forward on Wednesday!

In my case I go to the website http://www.tm.com.my/ap/contact/Pages/broa...denquiries.aspx fill up my details and query about the 4Mbps service availability. (please include your streamyx user name or your streamyx phone number). in 3 days I received the reply says that my area got the port for 4Mbps.

Nothing wrong at all with your line, and FYI, your line already capped to 5Mbps which is more than what you should get... I'm still not understand why the installer refuse to come to your house to do further inspection. BTW, just wait until this Wednesday and do update us what the installer will say when he test the line at your house... For me, your line are really capable and qualified for 4Mbps and even higher than that....

See my line statistics, it's kinda similar with your current stats...

Before I apply 4Mbps, the line is capped at 2Mbps.

Will update my status at Wednesday! nod.gif

SNR Margin : Down(22.7db) Up(19.5db)
Line Attenuation : Down(32.0db) Up(25.3db)
Data Rate : Down(4096kbps) Up(507kbps)

How's my line? Good enough for 4mbps package. Thank to Unifi phone line is not normal line which may not be able to enter my intercom phone system(said by TM staff), may not be getting Unifi. @.@

Seems like attenuation is freaking high. doh.gif

It's really stable... connection up-time already reached 2 weeks without any disconnection angat all... smile.gif
Unfortunately, as you can see from the speedtest results below, it's clearly shown that TM has a bad routing or maybe they encounter another AAG cable "problems" to the international server, I wonder why ping to Singapore spikes to more than 100ms! ohmy.gif Usually it's just about 40-50ms...
