I received a sms stating:
"This is to inform you that your card ending 6767 has overdue amt RM9674.54 at 11/5/16. Kindly make payment to avoid service interruption. Please call 03-27727303. TQ" Above is definitely a scam. Firstly, whenever I receive any SMS from any bank, the first word will be the bank's name, e.g. UOB or CIMB.... Secondly, I don't even have any outstanding payments. Thirdly, I don't even have a card ending with the number stated in the SMS. So I googled 0327727303 and guess what, the same number was used back in 2010!!! Click the link below: http://mykampung.sinchew.com.my/node/116739 I had to use google translate to understand it, haha: https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=e...739&prev=search If you have yet to read my article titled Credit Card Fraud & SMS Alert, you better click here and read it for your own good. |

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Jun 15 2016, 11:22 AM) Weird, you sure you said no and did not give any details? I have similar experience from difference company for the mandatory Personal insurance for maybank card, same amount RM499 for 2 consecutive years. my solution is cancel current card and get new card. someone must have given away our card detail. If like this, they don't even need to give you a call they call you is to inform you will be charged so that the conversation can be recorded, not to get your consent or negotiation. Must be some form of their protocol. So they will insist you to say "OK" or "yes" word during conversation. This post has been edited by kickurs2: Jun 15 2016, 11:41 AM |

I received a fraudulent call (03-2300 4937) today 12.38pm from a company called i crystal sdn bhd claiming that I have applied for a personal accident plan last year via OCBC bank and they want to send me the insurances policy. I feel very suspicious because I never apply for any insurance plan from my credit card. When I probe further, they can't provide with clear answer. I challenged them to send me detail if they have the proof that I have signed up for the insurances plan.
I have further call OCBC bank and confirmed with them that there is no insurance been charged on my account and I have lodged a report for this case. Also I have lodged a complaint to Bank Negara as well. Please take note of it and dont simply provide any verbal consent for them to simply charge for the unauthorized charges. |

Yup they already have my details..basically they call just to force us to say YES..after they deduct i report to maybank and now got my money refunded..after this im thinking of changing card.they call you is to inform you will be charged so that the conversation can be recorded, not to get your consent or negotiation. QUOTE PETALING JAYA: Malaysian jewellery chain store Poh Kong has warned customers of a new SMS scam. In a media statement on Saturday, the company said that the scam involved customers receiving an SMS informing them that their credit cards had been charged at Poh Kong outlets, and to call a particular number if they had not performed the transaction. The scammers would then ask customers to reveal their personal details and credit card details. “This SMS scam may also use different bank names or phone numbers,” said Poh Kong. In an example provided by Poh Kong, the SMS scam would read as follows: “RM0.00 RHB: MYR 3998.00 was charged on your card num**97 at POH KONG-AMPANG TESCO on 28/07. Call 03-92126570 if you did NOT perform this transaction.” Poh Kong cautioned the public to be careful. “If you receive such SMS asking you to call a number, don’t do it. “If you wish to confirm with your bank, make sure you call the right number,” said the company. Poh Kong has previously issued fraud alerts for scams that use the Poh Kong name for gold investment schemes, phone scams and email scams. http://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2016...-over-sms-scam/ |
