Received a call from 0132681112 claiming to be from akpk agent. They will help u apply loans to burst the card limit and take 15% commission so when you are under akpk you still have some cash on hand. But then he ask alot details similar to bank verification questions. Anyone had similar cases?

Received a call from clone RHB numbered 03 9201 8118 and ask me to authorize a credit card charge of 3k++, i hang up before the the information is fully read.

Note: RHB bank official number is 03 9206 8118

I recently received a call from the "official" number for that exact same thing. There's even a blog post about the rhb phone number being compromised. Basically a robot saying they're from RHB(yeah right) asking about a pending transaction of 3k+.

I received a call claimed to be staffs from Hong Leong Bank HQ twice (yesterday and today) from 00376268899 claiming that I have an overdue payment hasn't made to a personal loan of RM 50k applied under my name.

I knew it's a spam/fake call as I'm pretty sure that I don't have such facility with HLB. I tried to play along. The lady tried to connect my to a police officer. I told that I don't know that I'll make my police report myself after they forwarded me the relevant details. And again, she tried to do again; tried to connect my to a police officer. I'm annoyed and hanged up the call.

Immediately I call HLB CS at 03 76268899 for validation. The CS is already aware of this spam. I asked if there's a way for me to lodge a complaint. They asked me to go to nearest police station. I was like WTF.

I just hang up the phone and called back RHB directly and confirm no such transactions.

Hmm, should give rotan to all these scammers even if they are women

This is the reply I got from HLB:

QUOTE
Thank you for your message dated 03 July 2017.

We regret to note experience that you have been through with regards to below highlighted issue.

Please be advised that phone scam happens in many ways. Fraudsters may pretend to be bank staff or with technology, the scam syndicate can program any phone number to appear in the caller screen in order to convince the victim. They program most of the banks call center and customer service number to deceive the public. It’s a wide spread scam nowadays by syndicate to cheat and frightened victims to deposit/transfer their money via the phone.

With caller id spoofing, the scammers can make the incoming clip to appear from any number that they want (eg HLB, other banks, Bukit Aman, police station, Bank Negara).

Please note that genuine collections call does not originate from 03-76268899. Our HLCC number is not shared with Collections to be used as an outgoing line. This is the same with most banks whereby their Collections department and their customer service numbers are always different

When you receive a scam call, DO NOT reveal your details and DO NOT follow any instruction. If you are in doubt, contact us at +603-7626 8899.

Trust the above clarifies. Please contact us again should you have any other query.

Yours sincerely,
Hong Leong Connect
Hong Leong Bank

I believe the main point is the bold paragraph.

Just received a call 00 32 (0) 719999 and said that i had involved in an accident near George Town, Pulau Penang using Toyota Vios (forgot the car plate he mentioned, WS something) on 5th July 2017

He claimed that he was from Jabatan what what Kuala Lumpur but the tone seems like a chinese singaporean.

Then I said I wasn't even been to Penang during that time, I was having training in KL.

He kept tell me to come there whereas I'm not even at West Malaysia!

After that I asked for his name and he acted blur at first.
I madly asked for him again then only he said his name is "Wan Siew Kong"

I continue said ok, i will check for it then he said he will wait.
After a while, the phone dropped without sayinig anything.

However, that person know my personal information like he know i'm from Miri, Sarawak and my full name.
Any idea how to combat this kind of information leak in future?

Received a scam call today from 03 26043333. Same tactic: Overdue payment to a loan that I don't even apply for. This time from Alliance Bank.

I'm sick of this kind of call. I ended the call prematurely.

Anyone got calls and your handphone shows the location Hong Kong, Panama, Secylls Island etc? I don't know what's their issue when they just hang up once I take up. They get any benefit from doing that? Of course I am pretty sure they are scammers, but phone rings non stop and I wonder what tactics they are going to use.

One more thing, if you are not staying with your parents, please tell them not to disclose anything even if the caller claims they are from bank.

My mother at hometown received a call once from "Maybank", she freaked out. Start calling me if I owe Maybank money, cause the caller said I owe money. I never owe Maybank any money. I warned my mum not to talk to stranger anymore cause I will never give out hometown number.

Second time, a caller claimed to be my former classmate call up and chatted with her. Mum basically told her everything about me, where I work, which area I stay, whats my phone number etc. bangwall.gif Mum only told me about it recently and I was shocked as I never knew anyone called 'Susan'. Once again, I remind her, anyone wish to call me will know my handphone number, not home number even if it's classmate.

Now, I remove all documents that contain my IC number etc from my hometown, so my mum will have no information to accidentally feed the scammer.

Received a call from a number +01 today. It's a robotic sound claim that It's calling from public bank and I have a 3K left over debt. Hang up after I've heard everything, should I follow up with public bank to check is it real?

Hi guys,
Just to warn everyone  here I received  a out of the blue random call from Aeon  Credit card transactions  department  KL  on 22nd September  2017 at 11.30am.

First of all I don't own any credit  card. But here is the scam call details as per conversation:
Mandarin speaking  local accent;

Caller from so called Aeon  credit card transaction  department: may I speak to........I am from Aeon credit card transaction  department.
Me: I don't  understand  mandarin  well. Can you speak in English instead?
Caller: a young  guy voice like a Malaysian....oh okay  I call back later.... (??he Had trouble  speaking  English...sound suspicious  already  because  a highly  regarded  financial  institutions  staff can't speak bilingual well esp English...A basic requirements  to get into banking or financial  services  industry.!!...)
Me: it's okay you can continue  I will try to  get  you right....whats the matter? (I speak in simple mandarin with him and I can understand  what he said too)
Caller: okay miss I want to ask for your approval on a rm  4k  transaction  you make. Do you approved it?
Me: puzzled...." what do you mean? I don't understand."
Caller: oh miss based on our record, your name is.......address is....ic  number is......right? (Which is all correct!) you have make a purchase at KL PAVILION  buying Apple I pad right using your Aeon  credit  card. So I need to ask for your approval  of rm4k  purchase to proceed. If you okay I will proceed  to approve it. Maybe you can check if you own a aeon credit card?
Me: still puzzled but already  know it's a scam. Still I continue to verified with him worries  that my personal details hv actually  have been compromised....." no I don't own a aeon credit card"
Caller: oh miss but based on our record you have applied this credit card on 10 September  2017 at Johor bahru  aeon branch. And you have swipe a purchase of rm 3,945.12  at KL  bukit  indah  on 15 September  2017. Now today you have just swipe a new purchase  of rm4k  at KLPAVILION  mall. So miss I need your approval  to proceed.
Me: panic and puzzled...." I dint make any of this as you claimed...I think I have been scammed..I am staying in perak...u need to check how can I apply credit card from aeon without  me personally  identifiable  with my identification  card...my pay slip....how can you approve such credit  card application  then?
Caller: oh yes miss you are right but I àm only the transaction  department  so you need to report to this issue to bank negara  and they will cancel your debt if proved you are victim of credit  card fraud. So for now I have freeze your account. You can call this bank  negara  number.: 03 9212 6302  .. okay please write down your credit card number.............transaction  details..........
Me: I think I need to report police instead...
Caller: ah yes you can but you need to call bank negara first to report this issue.
Me:okay.....BT what is your name?
Caller: call me Mr. Lee....chee  huat....(sounds  reluctant and nervous throughout  the conversation  but very convincing  tho)
Me: okay  thanks...
Hang up the phone and start call the number he gave...

I dialled and choose  English  operator....The waiting line was as real as the government  customers  service line with negaraku  song being played.....no answer....I called again and this time I choose Malaysia operator....waited awhile and a young  Malay  male  voice answered....I straight  bombard  all my case to him and he just answered me in a cold tone...." okay  your name and ic  number?....okay I will call u again in 15minutes....He straight  hang up the phone.......

FYI: he never call back!

After all this sudden  drama....I start to feel beING fooled....I called up one of my friend  in the banking line and told him what happened...

He straight  tell me it's a scam call...just ignore it.its very happening nowadays  and KL have a lot of these kind of illegal scam  call operation  going on...The banker insider can easily access to clients  personal  information  and  sell it to these kind of scam operation. The scammer  will pretend to link you to bank negara helpline and the bank negara  operator will ask you to settle the outstanding debt of rm3k  plus which already incurred on a discount if u pay up now and transfer to their bank account  number....

Finally , he advised me to check online the bank negara and Aeon credit card official  website  for the official  contact  number....

To my surprise.....The bank negara contact  number given  by the caller was different  and so it was a fake number...its their scam own phone line...

Second...I called the Aeon  customer  service number and told the operator  my story....I gave her the credit card number the caller gave me earlier....to my relief....The operator  said this card number is not valid....its not in the system...so it was a scam call...

Feeling better  I have  confirmed it's just a make up story from a scam caller picking up random victim like me....

I feel  so stupid to have entertained this call and make myself panicked for no reason when I should  just hang up the phone instead! But luckily  I have learnt  a lesson and have not loss any money but time to this scam call...
