I already swipe for an iPad Mini yesterday and I just found out about this deal:

http://www.hsbc.com.my/1/2/personal-bankin..._CH_A_SPEND_WIN

Is there any way around it to participate? Because it says I need to register first via sms before spending.

Potential Winner Selection(”Potential Winner”)
Each Eligible Spend will be assigned a random serial number.
The total count of serial numbers received at the end of each day (”Daily Selection”) during the Contest Period will be divided by two (2) to short-list the daily Potential Winner for the daily Cash Back. All the serial numbers selected after division would be the closest lower whole number e.g. if there are a total of 345 serial numbers at the end of each day, the total serial number will be divided by 2 and rounded to the closest lower whole number, i.e. 172. The Potential Winner for that day would be the one whose random assigned serial number is 172. Eligible Spend which have already been included in the Daily Selection that has been concluded and which was not chosen as a Potential Winner will not be reselected and/or brought forward to the following day’s Daily Selection.

Hi guys, I'm a Premier Account holder and was considering taking out a CC from HSBC. It's probably used for rent and utility bills and maybe some meals as well as the occasional Steam sale. Was wondering if you guys could advise either for or against using one from HSBC? Apparently I am just charged 50 ringgit a year or something like that so the charges probably aren't a bother for me.

Was discussing with my dad about it and he suggested a supplimentary card from another bank. However, I'd prefer to manga my finances myself. Don't suppose you know about whether or not I can handle the transactions online or something? As well as keeping up with expenses via internet banking?

Your Dad was Right...ask your Dad apply a Supp. Card for You Or get Yourself a Debit Card are Best Choice... laugh.gif
As Student with NO Income, How can you Repay Credit Card Debts or Handle your Expenses ...for Long Term ??? (although you got a Premier Ac.)

Fyi, Only Primary Cardholder can apply Supp. card for his Supp. Card Applicant (min.18 years old) , U can not apply Sendiri
& Principle Card Applicant must be above 21 years of age nod.gif

Wish You Luck... smile.gif

@xKeneshirox, nobody was questioning nor belittling your ability to manage your own finances. Over here we advise people and it's up to anyone to do what they want at their own risk. However, we are proud to offer offer frank and responsible advice and not anything which serve to push our readers off the personal finances cliff.

Typically HSBC will offer the Premier Mastercard to their Premier members. However, I'm not sure whether they will still enforce the income checking for those not working. Choice of credit card is up to an individual spending pattern as one want to be rewarded by it but do have in mind the potential debt trap. Often those who fall are those who are in denial and I'll stop here as I don't appreciate nor want you to snap at me as you did with fly126.

As for your question whether HSBC is good or not then ... it's up to you to determine your own spending pattern and match that with a suitable card. If holding that card benefits you (or it's the only bank wanting to offer you a card) then it's alright then. For some of us, it's not the best card (myself included). And if you intend to constantly use it for cross border transactions then you need to note and have in mind the recurring cross border fees that you need to bear. (No discount on this nor it is waiverable)

Whoops. Sorry, did I give the impression that I was acting hostile/rude? My bad. I'm just horrible at phrasing questions =/ I was wondering if it was possible to keep track of spendings via the internet banking page. I've only used the HSBC debit card so far, so the CC side of it is a bit foreign to me.

Also, if I soundeed rude, sorry >.<

The simple answer is YES. Plus there's also a monthly account cc statement too. You'll need to refer to this when you pay your cc bills every month.

With 100% Confirm that, HSBC No longer Issued their Classic Card since 2-3 years ago & the current one will auto-upgrade to Gold Card nod.gif
for Gold Card min. Income requiment-$24,000 p.a which stated that on their website...

But now, I also a bit confused that why their Credit Card Eligibility Link put there need min. Income -$36,000 p.a to qualify a Visa Gold...??? hmm.gif

Check the links Below:

Hi all, I need some advice...
Last year Dec. I've been persuade to apply for HSBC AMANAH Platinum Visa CC, & I've agree to apply this CC.
In 29/12/12 I received my CC and activate in the same day. My 1st swipe for the CC was on 31/12/12.
Just in last week, I received a bill statement from HSBC & they charge me for RM50 gov. tax for yr 2012, I'm so shock to see this charges.
By just owning the CC for 3 days I needed to pay the gov. tax it really feels like kena CON by the sales agent.

Question: Can I call up HSBC to ask them remove the gov. tax since I only used it 3 days?

Based on my understanding, the govt tax for RM50 is charge on the date of issued of your credit card, not charge for each calender year.

The next govt tax for your credit card should be 29/12/13.

So far NO Problem with me when Use it at Chinese Eatries like, Dragon-i (non-Halal Restaurent)
or Purchase Liquor Product in Duty-free Shop at Airport
Currently, more Flaxible or can said without any Problem at all If compare with maybe 4-5 years ago nod.gif

+1 Agreed with sj0217 thumbup.gif
Once the Bank issued Credit Card to You...then You MUST pay GST of the Card, or else You maybe Blacklisted by Bank for Not Paying GST sweat.gif
(Government Goods & Services Tax was MANDATE for Principle Credit cardholder $50p.a per card or Supp. card $25 p.a per card since 2010)

Can NOT Bear the $50 GST... X Apply Credit Card OR get a Debit Card with No GST nod.gif
