Dear Gen-X,

Yesterday I notice my CC account have been charge for the annual fees. Search high & low for the 12x swipes in HSBC website, but unable to find anything about the auto waived. not a single words about 12x swipes in HSBC website. I remember last time I saw it stated 12x swipes.

As mentioned, HSBC CS told me to pay first for the annual fees.
My statement Date is 27/Aug and the annual fees charge on the same day. So I have to pay the annual fees by 16/Sep. I will wait till last few days before the due date. Hopefully HSBC will credit back RM 600 to my CC account before my statement due.

Hope all existing HSBC credit card holder will take note on the annual fees. Check your Statement / Online@HSBC.
If HSBC really sincere to give Free For Life annual fees, then it should be mention in HSBC website / product disclosure sheet on the auto waived with min 12x swipes.
*
Thanks for bringing this to the attention of HSBC cardholders.

I also did a search on HSBC site for annual fee waiver on VS cards but all past references to auto waiver based on mininum 12 annual swipes are gone!

So far this year i've only been billed the government tax of rm50 (twice - due to their error!). If there is no annual card fee waiver i'm also ditching this card! mad.gif

Dear All,

Just to add on, HSBC reversed out the annual fees of RM 600 that charged to my CC account on the same day I called. Transaction & Posting date is on 29/Aug/12.

Perhaps you can try to verify with their CS if the above email address is legit or bogus ?

Hi.. I'm going to uk to study soon and my parents are considering to get me a supp HSBC premier WMC but seems like it has not much benefits for me.
10x points for hotel and dining is pretty much useless when it is unnecessary to stay in a hotel and I will get screwed if I dined in expensive places.

No free entry to VIP airport lounge which is pretty sad.

Hi ... you are only getting a SUPPLEMENTARY card from your parents. Do you have a fixed permanent income ? Or are you just a student ?
Talk about privileges when you are entitled and earning your own card and not before that.

im a student. why can't talk about privileges as i'm also using the card? like you don't talk about advantages of cars when you are a student??

after i do some research, i found out that this card has not much benefits besides the waived of annual fees and other charges so i don't have to pay anything if i don't use it. i'm not going to spend alot with this cards so reward points seem useless for me.
in my case, i prefer a card which comes with free stuff, like free entry to airport lounge, so i can get some benefits from it even i seldom use the card. i think alliance platinum card has this kind of benefits.

Read your own post. As a student I don't get any VIP airport lounge or good hotel or even dream of getting such for free. I enjoy this after I earn my own money and my own card. I dream of cars as well but it stops there.

If you have the thoughts about Alliance Platinum card, so what's stopping you ? Please get it and share your experience in here.

You want something from the card your parents is giving to you. I'm sorry but I felt you need to be realistic of your expectations and not to talk like a spoilt kid although you have the right to write and behave like one.

what happen?

11.30 a.m. - someone called my home and verify residential address
12.00 p.m. - email saying approve with links
1.47 p.m. - call center said no records
7.45 p.m. - call center said no records and they said they don't notify people via email.

think about it, when i submit application i didn't put in my email address. But my email is linked up with my savings account.

This is so risky! i wonder is internal job maybe!

Why pay more for international transaction when you can easily apply a student credit card with bank like NatWest or Lloyds. Im not sure how the benefits now but you can check this out with your preferred UK bank once you got the uni letter to open a bank account. In short a local card definitely will works better than your bolehland card.

First time in my life being called a spoilt kid by a forumer just because I'm saying I got no benefits from a credit card. Please tell me why do I look like a spoilt kid so next time I wont act like this?
All cards are fine to me, if I can choose i prefer better cards. My parents don't have alliance account.

Really?? Thats cool. I think the rate is definitely better than bolehland card. I choose bolehland card cause there are no extra charges to apply and use, free insurance for flight ticket purchase and can use it in case of emergency.

Thanks for telling I will check the student card you mentioned. Haha

Added on September 5, 2012, 3:36 pmThe staff told me that it takes 2 weeks to get the card but I will fly exactly 2 weeks from now. sad.gif

Can anyone here confirm HSBC actually sent out email when an application is approved?

Like you mentioned your Parent don't have Alliance Account - if they do and willing to make a deposit jointly with you above RM200K, you can be issued the Alliance Premier Debit Card, but the card only grants you free entry to LCCT Plaza Premium Lounge and not KLIA. How I know? My son has it and he can enter LCCT PPL with his Alliance Premier Debit Card. Same case should apply to RHB Premier Debit Card where under 18 are eligible for it, and this card better, it grants you access to KLIA and LCCT. But if your parents were to just go deposit RM200K with Alliance or RHB, they'll be earning less from FD if they were to go with other banks. So, in conclusion, it's not what card you prefer but what card your parent can issue you tongue.gif

Secondly, the Priority Pass Membership Card for entry to overseas airport lounge is only issued to the Principal Card Holder. For KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge, only Principal Cardholder are entitled to the Free Entry (maybe except for Citibank - can't remember correctly what was reported at Airport Lounge Thread). So, if you are 21 years above, go open a Premier or Priority or Privilege Banking Account and you can be issued a Principal Credit Card and get the Priority Pass Membership Card too smile.gif

Also take note, some Supp cards are not entitled to the Free Travel Insurance.

I suspected so. In all HSBC email, the address usually contains some really long random numbers. Something like this> xxxxxxxxxxxx.5043023.100300.0@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

From what i remember, no. They do not.

I helped my mom to apply for a HSBC Amanah credit card sometime in 2009 and she did not get any email when it was approved. For my own case, which one was a pre-approved credit card and another one was a FD pledged credit card (FD pledged credit card still required approval), i did not receive any email from HSBC either.
