thanks for the reply.
what about the jerking? As I know CVT is a problematic gear box. Previous generation honda city suffered and cost of replacing the CVT is RM 14k.....
I read some of the members hear, already facing some jerking problem. Although there is no clear view whether this  jerking came from CVT honda insight....but as for honda city previous gen..yes.

Hi all,

I've been cruising for 7days since I got this ride and just did the 1st 1000km service.

To my dissapointment, the milleage per litre is not up to my expectations.
The best milleage I did was 16.7km/L and my driving mode as below:

- Econ Mode turned on all the time
- No hard acceleration or hard braking at all time
- Cruise not more than 100km/h, averagely 80-90km/h on hiway
- Mostly on hiway
- always maintaining green color mode on the meter

No doubt it is better than my previous Civic EK FC, but I expected more.
To my surprised, i wonder how some forumers could clocked 20km/l and some declared 25km/l. I've got this details from other forum.

Could anyone enlighten me?

___________________________________________________________

My Econ mode is ON during city drive but still no improve, my 4th tank done 470km, 32 liter , (manual calculation) 14.7km/l (40% City, 60% Highway)

The best part is "the last 3 trip info screen" shows over 20km/l (which is about 300km done in highway), somehow the figure shown in current trip mileage only 15.2km/l (quite accurate to the real fuel consumption) before i pump petrol. I lodged complaint to honda service dealer, as usual, no solution.

I think it will be getting closer to your expectation after 5K of service. But of course, this result also subject to the driving habits and behaviour etc which need to be factor in.

Owners who had 5K of service kindly share your FC with us.

Thank you rolleyes.gif

Hi all,

First of all, I don't own any Hybrid, but my friends does – both insight and Prius. I have to admit that I'm a fan of Prius simply because it's an icon or representation of 'Hybrid'. thumbup.gif when you mentioned a hybrid car, chances are the 1st car came to people's mind is Toyota Prius, even Hollywood movies use Priuses.

Anyway, I'm not here to say Prius is better than insight then just run away. In fact, if I were to choose between these 2 cars, I would go for an insight. Why? it's because insight is a very simple car, the idea, the design, bla bla bla... I think that's why the design and engineering is not same as Prius.

After a few rounds behind both wheels (insight & Prius) on long distance drives, I found that prius is a great car to be in, but you will have to try very hard and get-use-to to really save fuel. Unlike Prius, Insight is so simple that you don't have much choice apart from just drive with ECON on/off, S here, D there and it works. I does save more fuel compare to Honda City driving under the same condition nod.gif

With Prius, you really have to be gentle on the gas to yield better mileage or be hard to just go fast. Yes, similar goes to insight. But I must say that, for Prius, it became annoying when sometimes you just want to drive like normal but often you will feel that there's not enough power to go up a slope (because the car think that you are in 'eco' mode and try to conserve the energy for you) and when you want to go fast, it will take a while before you can feel the throttle (the delay is quite bad).

I'm not very good at describing these 2 cars, but if you draw a line with fuel saving in 1 end and going fast or response in the other, Prius has got longer line at both ends, and it's the longer line that annoyed me. This is the factor that makes me think insight is a simple car and I love the simplicity of it thumbup.gif It's a bit like a DSLR and a point & Shot camera case, sometime i don't need a DSLR to do the job wink.gif

Sorry for the looong reply, GTG, bosses are around sweat.gif

hmm.. actually Prius highway real life mpg not any much better than Insight..

Personally on highway 23km/l is easily achievable. For me during my last trip I get around 21 to 22km/l. average speed 115km/h occasionally up to 140km/h (econ off to overtake)

the only clear advantage that I see Prius has is the ability to accelerate on EV mode up to 40km/h, good for short distance travel of when searching for car park.

My Insight perform not that well for short distance travel, (1-2km with 2 traffic light) only able to achieve the best 14km/l for this type of short distance travel.

Buy what you want sir, what your heart feels. It's like choosing girlfriends. If you want a good one, you need to bear the cost of it. By this you won't be disappointed of what your choice is.

In order for Prius to do better than Insight, Prius have to try hard. Under normal condition, there's not much different. So it's save to say Prius can do better just because it can. Driving side by side at the same pace, it's FC is almost same as insight. For Prius, with a bit of experience and skill (Which can be annoying and i rather not do it), you can do better. wink.gif

If most people just drive as it is, the FC will be similar. RM65-68 for both car and the FC is around 650-700km for both cars. Tested twice, and they both stay very near, and work at same area smile.gif time leaving and coming back are almost same too.

Definitely. smile.gif

Thus I peeled off my cipalak tint and got myself crystalline. Though there's still heat coming in sometimes.

Rear passengers always complain no aircon while I have to increase
Fan level to 4th at least.

I managed to get 380km from previous tank only. 80% city, 20% highway, econ mode off all the time, genting trip 2 times, 4 adults, rev all the way, top speed 191km/h.

Usually RM60 can give me 550km driving normally with econ mode off, 100% city.

Gulp ..thats good FC dude. I could only clock 510km and cost RM62 Esso RON95 to fill up. 90% city 10% highway.
But then I am still happy coz its way better than MyVi that average 300km RM60!

FC update :
1st tank, 615km (RM61 with Esso Ron95), 30% hwy-70% city.
In hwy, gear D with econ ON.
In city, gear D with econ OFF, and during bumper-bumper jam, shift to S (this won't coz Auto Idle Stop). Supect during bumper-bumper jam, auto idle stop consume more petrol.

Mugen kit I'm interested.

which cost approximately RM0.12 per km... which is consider good if you ask me, in view of 90% city drive with consideration of traffic jam and auto idle stop which will consume only petrol.

There was once on my outstation trip, reset my trip km/l, managed to get 22km/l from KL to Ipoh. Only RM0.08 per km. Econ mode On with 110km/h. Play around with Auto Cruise, when down slope, maintain auto cruise and when up hill, will cancel the auto cruise with mild acceleration.

Added on May 26, 2011, 1:24 pmMy previous Civic EK Sedan, RM50 fuel could only last for 320km.
With Insight, RM62 could last for 670km.

You do the math.
