Why are most of my friends working in Singapore depressed? One of my friend who just graduated and now working in NUH said this: "Working life here sucks. Room small small, old old, rental so damn expensive. Pay low. Working hours insane." Lolz..I hope not everyone experience the same thing.

It's a fact that housing prices in SG has grossly outpaced std of living increases in the last 10 years. Right now, the govt has to decide who to screw over. Current property owners who have factored in continuing large capital gains or future buyers who are increasingly unable to afford the home they want. If you look at it from the voting base p.o.v, you'd have to say the current batch of owners will be sacrificed.

QUOTE(deodorant @ Jun 20 2011, 09:58 AM) eh, if u in KL same thing also what. 25-30 years loan to buy rm400k condo. too early imo. recession/property bubble burst should be only sometime second half of the decade. which leaves plenty of time for me to save, get PR/citizenship, then wait for prices to drop before buying Since its a global recession like 2008-2009 since the corrective measure in banking hasnt been fixed yet, europe is still debating on clearing the debts of greece and spain, portugal, ireland and italy are still saddled with debt. The US economy doest show signs of improvement either and looks like to gonna have another collapse. Your estimate is the calculated recession that occurs every 10 years but 2012's recession is due to 2009's after effects.

My first couple of months in SG like hell. Dunno where to go or anybody to go with. But after awhile u make more friends and things will be ok. except for the working hours and housing. U hang out in a mall most of yr free time.

ALL my outstation classmates at Taylor's College were depressed, in that's the definition of depression. All of us were not from KL, just finished SPM, never been away from home before... suddenly have to rent a little room (a couple of us even did a Harry Potter ie. rented the utility cupboard underneath the staircase), cook/buy our own meals, find our own way to school, manage our own budget, organise our own lives etc... basically take care of ourselves. That my friend, is called growing up.

Easy, greece will default their country to china. I prefer the philosopher Mick jagger once said "You cant always get what you want, but if you try some time you might find you get what you need". According to news reports, there are more job openings in singapore then applicants. Why not try since alot of companies are now headhunting for people rather then the other way around.

QUOTE(rickysim84 @ Jun 20 2011, 10:11 AM) well, it might happening and it might not. So my problems now is buy first or buy later.. you could never actually tell when is the time to buy. Just have to wait and see. I bought mine during the economy crisis and only pay 5k for COV. Now you need to pay at least 30-40k for the same unit.
