well, more towards the eng. edu. ones... if you're chinese edu. most likely they can pick you out... am i right?

neway, just because we blend in better and we are harder to spot doesnt mean there's no resentment... and also our features and colour are more similar there's somekind of kinship involved that helps..

more of these feelings are usually among the lower class/society... the capitalist class loves foreigners, the educated ones usually are more acceptable, where's the upper class are 50-50
*
There will always be resentment toward foreigners regardless of country, it's the magnitude that counts. It's good for Malaysians seeking work and residence in Singapore that the Sgp govt and people (generally) are accepting foreigners in their midst. One would hardly find such a situation in most other countries.

Guys I need you guys to help me on this.

Last week, I went for job interview after they approach me through email. During interview, it looks like I'm the one interviewing them instead of interviewing me, keep asking those question regarding my current job and ignore all my IT skills. After 30min of resting, ( having coffee nearby after interview ), they call me again to office. This time they provide me job offer, but stated that they will have 2 years bonding, and state the salary and increment within those 2 years.

After few days of consideration, I have decided to reject the job due to bonding. ( 2 years is really make me crazy ). I sent an email regarding this. The next day, he called me and requested reasons of rejecting the job offer. After I said its due to job bonding, he said he will try to make up something for this. The following day, he provide a job offer without bonding but reduce salary by a bit.

Should i take this job? Cause they way they approach me, is like treating me like a gold treasure. =___= Totally suspicious on this. And any job with a bonding doesn't seem to be a nice job after all. What do you think? cry.gif

(P/S: The job is application support specialist , something like software engineer but more on project management. I personally like programming but i heard that IT project management path has more future than programming path.)

Without the bond, aren't you free to leave if you decide to throw the towel?
From 2 year bond to no bond, I do think that they value you quite highly. If you think you still have other chances elsewhere, you can consider declining. At the same time, you could also take on the job and still look for better offers.

Yeah, I'm free to leave if I decide to throw the towel. It does really provide me with good opportunities. I can still look for better offers while working, one thing i just feel unease, the attitude they treat me, is something like I have never experienced in my whole life. Somemore it is situated in Singapore. I thought for Singapore interview should be tough. Instead I got the job easily. Don't you think thats abit weird? I have been to so many interview in Singapore company, they never treat me as they want to hire me. But this one. yes they seems like their face appeared "You're hired" before i went for interview.

Maybe if you could provide the salary range offered and the nature of the company (SME, MNC) to give us more insights. We may deliberate further thereafter.

Sure. It a local based company, it does have official website. I have asked relative who has been working in Singapore before to check this company's background and it looks fine. By the way, its a small company, providing logistic system to various country such as Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines and other Asia countries. Its not MNC definitely, but I know that small company can easily go up the hill. My current salary is around 2k mid higher, but the salary offer is just above 2k just a tiny bit. ( different by around 200 dollars, sg dollar ). the increment will be $200 after one year working. But I don't know how the increments work for Singapore company. I know in Malaysia the increment should be around Rm200 to RM400. smile.gif

how many years of working experience you have?
2k+ is considered quite low.. but for a small company and for a fresh grad, you can try since it's not bonded

oh but 1year is not considered much also .. well maybe you can try looking at the benefits.. if overall is good, you can always take advantage of this job as a stepping stone. who knows if you reject this job offer, how long do you have to wait to get another job offer in singapore. as far as i know, it's not easy to get a job offer nowadays..

if your concern is not to resign before you get a job, not to worry..
if you're overseas, most probably they will arrange a phone interview/skype interview first. if they want you for 2nd interview only you'd travel to singapore for it.
most of the applicants have a job in hand, they will understand the inconvenience. we don't resign first and then look for a job. everything can be arranged, just take 1-2days leave when the time comes.

there are very few jobs that would give an interview that are out of malaysia, unless it's during the job fair.
go through singapore recruitment agents, that's the fastest

Do we need to sign the offer letter so that the employer can use that as supporting document to apply SP/EP for us?

nope.
the form already has your company details, your company will need to fill in certain portions too. that is already a proof of the company's intention to hire you..

your offer letter stays with you

I see. thank you. I am wondering is that because I did not have any offer letter which made my pass applications failed.
