QUOTE(rockefeller @ Feb 28 2011, 03:52 PM)
Hi guys. I have a friend who is intending to get her first credit cards and she has decided Maybank is her bank of choice. She earns approximately RM 3,500 monthly.
She has been using Amex Personal (Green) Charge Card all this while and intends to get credit cards now to allow flexibility in repayment.
Question is, should she get:
1. Maybankard 2 Combo of Gold Visa & Amex
or
2. Maybank Visa Gold Card & Amex Gold Credit Card
Which is wiser you think? Points wise. She insists on having one Amex credit card and one Visa credit card and intends to maximize her points earnings.
*
Ask your friend go read my post at my blog on Maybankard 2 Cards, you can email her link below
http://creditcardsmalaysia.blogspot.com/20...an-express.html

Since your friend willing to pay RM100 GST for MBB Visa and Amex Gold CC, ask her go get Maybankard 2 Cards AND OCBC Titanium MC. So she'll get all three main cards in Malaysia i.e. AMEX, Visa and MasterCard for RM100.

QUOTE(zenquix @ Feb 28 2011, 04:31 PM)
Actually I suggest making a post detailing places you get 1% (when you expect to get 5%).
3) less avenues for ppl to complain (they tend to it alot in the forums) -? post 5% get 1% -> complain list wrong, we bluff them etc. etc. . on other hand, if post 1% but get 5% it will be "good for them!"
*
hahahaha, you are right on.

QUOTE(Death^Grip @ Feb 28 2011, 03:08 PM)
Hi guys.
Just want some advise.
Can i apply for any local cc with basic 1k? My salary after plus allowances, deduct epf, etc around 5k.
I applied hsbc amanah today, the guy say confirm can. But im having trouble with maybank. I need a local card too. Any suggestion?
*
Like I mentioned in my reply on annual income, if you pay income tax and if you state you gross annual income in Borong B > RM18K, then yes, you qualify for credit card.

QUOTE(ronnie @ Feb 28 2011, 05:04 PM)
I created the list for both areas... just wait for TS to post it.
*
Come to think off it, the list may be long as mentioned by zenquix, What you should do is post it below and get TS to link it to the post so you can update anytime you want. Then when a new thread is started, TS to PM you and you post soonest possible. Better you have "control" of the post so you can edit it instead of TS.

I was in PJ last weekend, pumped fuel at a few Esso/Mobil stations, all of them  accepted AMex.
When I came back to hometown, both Esso and Mobil declined my Amex. The cashier said "Sepatutnya boleh, tapi tak tau sekarang tak boleh pulak...dah complain tapi tak de orang datang troubleshoot"...  doh.gif
*
Called Esso/Mobil Smiles Hotline today and lodged a feedback regarding non-acceptance of AMEX at pump.
He said CS cannot intervene operations of dealers but he will take note and convey to relevant department for review/discussion.

I also complaint against non-acceptance of all kinds of credit card for purchase in Mobil Mart of a Mobil station in my hometown. Again he said "CS cannot intervene operations.........."

Well let's see if ExxonMobil management really do their job.

Bro, thanks for the update. I guess Wawasan Sentosa is a money changer? Next time you check wawasan rate, if can also check MBB rate on their website and post it too.
Yes. Wawasan Sentosa is a money changer at Mid-Valley Megamall located at the Lower Ground Floor, Centre Court. They provide one of the most competitive exchange rates in town. The rates are almost as good as the one at Bukit Bintang (near BB Plaza) and those money changers in Chow Kit.

As for Maybank's own exchange rate, it is always so high. Not even the actual foreign exchange rate used for their credit card is as high (not even after factoring in the 0.5% admin fee for VISA/MasterCard).

Didn't you notice the 3-year expiry date on your CC statement ?
10,000 Bonus Points can redeem RM50 Giant voucher only.

All CIMB Shopping voucher redemption left Giant RM50
CIMB really is getting year by year. The 2011 rewards redemption catalogue shows no shopping voucher to redeem at all doh.gif

Go to any Maybank branch and tell them you want to set up a PIN number.

M2U can be so troublesome to those who do not have any savings or current account with Maybank. I now have to maintain two different M2U accounts just for my Maybankard 2 cards doh.gif Will open one savings account with them next month for the sake of convenience.

Not to spoil the fun but although O&G companies dictates the look and feel (and most of the petrol stations for standardization purposes), there are areas where they do not interfere. This area is one of them ....

Just out of curiosity ... where is your hometown anyway ? (If you don't mind answering it in here)

I understand that.
I don't expect a satisfactory outcome, but I will certainly feel "uncomfortable" if I didn't voice out my dissatisfaction. Now I feel better than this morning laugh.gif

Guys ... good job on the first page but IMHO there's a lot of information there and perhaps some creative use of spoiler will make it tidier.

It's incredibly long and I'm not sure as a first timer I want to read all that.
Just an opinion.

Please post together MBB rate because I want to compare with buying bank draft for my son tuition fee especially if you transact in USD. Sometimes RHB will give me slightly lower than counter rate.

Yah I noted MV and BB money changer on weekend the rate almost the same as MSN USD/MYR rate.

On first page, places that can get 5% with OCBC Titanium, I saw "TNB via OCBC Internet Banking"
How do you use OCBC Internet Banking to pay TNB? I asked before and the CS said can only use online CURRENT ACCOUNT to pay TNB.

Using Amex for spending at O'Brien gets 30% discount but offer until 31/3/2011. In addition you gets 5xTpoints and 5% rebate if spend on weekend. Better than using OCBC Ti.

Thanks.
As i do not have any savings or current account with Maybank, i have to maintain two distinct usernames to manage my Maybankard 2 Cards which come in two different cards (AMEX and VISA).
