QUOTE(albnok @ Apr 4 2011, 10:41 PM) yuhi: No, a positive EV is always needed if there is a filter in front of the lens or flash. Codyx: The camera always automatically switches from ADI to TTL the moment you turn the flash to bounce or detach it and trigger it wirelessly. So yes, you can leave it on ADI - I leave it on ADI so I can shoot extremely hot sun scenes with flash exposure being perfect. However if I use a diffuser I need to +EV according to its manual. (They will usually tell you how much +EV to put.) for real? but the setting option din't automatically changes itself to TTL when i attach my flash in bounce position....or does it really in TTL mode? tq~

QUOTE(Codyx @ Apr 4 2011, 10:47 PM) for real? but the setting option din't automatically changes itself to TTL when i attach my flash in bounce position....or does it really in TTL mode? tq~ no doubt, because don't expect camera be too clever, camera only can know your object distance by taking the focus distance from lens and calculate appropriate GN (flash power) in order to perfect expose the object.. edited: this method call ADI but once you bounce, even 45 degree, camera can't calculate it, because camera don't know how high the ceiling or bounce card.. so then, it will rely on TTL by pre-flash.. if don't believe, take it to rear curtain sync, shoot a slower shutter, for eg 1/2s den you'll see the different This post has been edited by hiansitt: Apr 5 2011, 01:51 AM

QUOTE(fansoption @ Apr 5 2011, 09:42 AM) Portrait need 85mm f1.4 No need lah... 85mm f2.8 is enough already. Yes, it's not as good as the f1.4 but it will do. I've finally bought the lens but have yet to have the chance to really test it out. Before people start asking where I got it from as stocks are very low or non-existent, I got it second hand for a very nice price!

Codyx: Yes it does change to TTL, read the manual.
bysquashy: Nice #1 and #4!
Soony: It is usable. However on the A33/A55 make sure you get the rechipped version.
shootkk: Congratulations!

Can someone pls explain to me whether there is any difference in the FUNCTION of the LV button found on A550 and A580 since they're labeled differently: in A550 it's called 'MF CHECK LV' whereas on A580,'FOCUS CHECK LV'. See here: A550's top plate A580's top plate: Thanks! This post has been edited by alphadog: Apr 5 2011, 10:40 AM

alphadog: The A560/A580 calls it Focus Check LV because it can use contrast detect AF (slow, mirror stays up, you can always see the view) or phase detect AF (fast, mirror drops down and comes up, but causes blackout) when in Focus Check LV.
On the A450/A500/A550 MF Check LV only lets you manual focus.
