ya, different company, as I was told by CS.
There was once, I asked CS to deduct my CIMB Current Account balance to pay directAccess credit card outstanding balance, he said cannot.

Direct Access will be discontinued by end of the year. Those having current account at Direct Access will be migrated to CIMB Preferred while credit card from DA will be changed to VI/WM upon expiry of the anniversary date of the credit card. They are doing in stages till end of the year. My C/A has migrated to CIMB Preferred already.

if this is true good, no need for me to tell some merchants that DA is CIMB to get discount.

Yes but the letter came after I have already done the migration. It was the Relationship Manager(RM) who called me of the migration and I called DA CS to confirm. Set an appointment and she came over to do the necessary wihout me going to the bank.

I believe you must have a certain amount in your DA current account in order to entitle the Preferred banking migration. Otherwise it would be seriously unfair for existing CIMB current or Prime account holders, which is not Preferred banking.

Not really. I have checked with them too whether I need to maintain RM200K (which I do not have) as the pre-requisite for opening of a CIMB Preferred a/c. They said just for this DA migration, no need to maintain, conditions are the same as previously enjoyed in DA.

I think they will review each DA a/c before assigning which a/c to be migrated to.

I also noticed that a lot of DA credit card holders do not know that they can actually open a Current A/C under DA which give better interest than the normal CIMB C/A

Damn... I'm gonna be missing the Direct Access branding. It does have a sense of exclusiveness because a lot of people out there has not heard of it. A lot of times when I flash my DA card they think its an overseas bank. laugh.gif

I guess, I will wait for the next migration batch. You actually open Direct Access Savings/Current account with your DA Credit Card (no cash required)

Ya they charged RM1k to the c/c and credit to the SA/CA a/c.

Maybe you should call them to check on the migration

i was offered a Gold DA card end of last year. does that upgrade affect all DA cardholders? i don't think my current salary qualifies me as a VI/WM cardholder. sweat.gif

Yes because CIMB wants to discontinue DA so eventually all DA a/cs and c/c will be converted to CIMB.
I think they have certain conditions that need to be met depending on your credibility with the CIMB.They might migrate yours to equivalent CIMB gold card or upgrade to VI/WM. Mine initially was DA gold card and was upgraded to DA Platinum few yrs ago.

I just checked with CIMB, yes such upgrade process is under way but is only for selected DA customers & not everyone.

Yes, you will be asked which branch you want the a/c be opened. For eg if you are offerred to migrate to CIMB Preferred, you should open at the branch that has CIMB preferred (mind you not all branches have CIMB Preferred). You will then be assigned a RM (Relationship Mgr) He/she will do the migration for you at your preferred branch and you just need to go to that branch to collect your cheque book a week after the a/c has been migrated.

Did you ask more (eg DA will be discontinued) As I said earlier, they might vet thru your a/c before upgrade or just migrate to the similar a/c at CIMB.

Not for everyone? Then what happens to those who are not included? Or you are referring to the migration to CIMB preferred?
