I made a mini video review - bootup time, core temp and general stuff. haven't touch on the quality of the laptop itself, but will probably add that on the second video. Uploading it now as I write this post.

People say high heat would reduce your battery life.

Anyway, i just opened up my 4830TG.

Feel that it is not snappy. Lagging somehow. When opening taskbar it only pop up after 5 seconds. Press the process button on the task bar and another 3 seconds. Even my atom respond faster.

Something wrong here. Hope that i don't get a faulty unit

PS - CPU usage around 30-70% even when i am doing nothing?

Okay, basically i dont mind if the battery wont last extra longer like the timeline series. What i want is the laptop wont feel heat up like the car engine after i game for hours.

For 4830tg owners, anyone experience heat up fast on the boards? Cos i just test my friend's acer 5750g 15.6" , used for 3 hours feel like nothing still cool man.

The only thing is 5750g is heavier and bigger ( means ugly than the 4830tg )

so any 4830tg owners please give me an answer? whether the laptop heat up fast anot?

oh ya, not really a fan of asus. so i will confirm go for Acer, just to choose whether 4830tg or 5750g. blush.gif

The keyboard side doesn't heat up. The bottom does, but still manageable levels.

Normally the rationale that a non-built-in battery is better if you game a lot is that you can plug it in and remove the battery.

However for myself, I game with it in anyways because I prefer peace of mind when working and gaming as the battery acts like a UPS.

That's it ? That's all ? Then they are same!
I have an idea, what about charging the battery full then when the battery is full, it'll stop charging and work like there is no battery ( like it's only plugged in with no battery )
Whatcha think ? sweat.gif

Maxreno: Actually that's what they would recommend. When the battery is full, the AC charger will go directly to power the laptop and bypass the battery.

The problem here is not overcharging or anything.. It's the heat generated from laptop
When gaming which would degrade the lifespan of the battery..

Oh, I see .,. Just thought about this! But actually it doesn't really concern me that much :].
My main concern is why I can't extend international warranty and battery warranty ... And what to do if it spioled! Its expense and if it's gonna available normally!
Can anyone contact with Acer and ask them about battery and share please ? I don't know how to...

remonx : not really sure about that.

guys, for those interested in 4830tg like me please do more research. especially the battery that can tahan long time. totally crap. that is just marketing strategy. so dont take that as an advantage.

the laptop can only last longer than normal laptop for bout 20 minutes maybe. but not 8 hours. 8 hours is on standby mode. from what my friend experienced on his 4820tg timeline series. his laptop manage to last for 3 hours. not 8 hours -.-

8 hours of course not on gaming or anything.. We're talking about basic web surfing and screen with lowest brightness and power saving mode, it's possible and already shown through Revamperz review of 6-9 discharge rate.. Any other normal laptops have 12-15 discharge rate even on the lightest usage.. The battery is 8-cell somemore.. Ur frens 4820TG must be having a very high wear level or he's using high performance mode.
