QUOTE(SIWIS @ Mar 22 2011, 11:42 AM) Using manual focus is really pain in the ass. As mentioned by Everdying, the subject you focused on didnt have enough contrast for the camera to lock on the focus..so it keeps hunting..and as said by KTCY, u need to understand the principle of focusing Object/model/moment can't wait so sometime need capture fast. What about setting to 3D tracking can solve problem? |

QUOTE(SIWIS @ Mar 22 2011, 11:42 AM) Using manual focus is really pain in the ass. If you know the distance, you can use pre-focus technique, focus on somethingelse of same distance roughly, hold the shutter half way to keep the focus lock or use the AE-L button then move back to your subject. Depend in you want to lock the exposure or not, you can set this in settings.Object/model/moment can't wait so sometime need capture fast. What about setting to 3D tracking can solve problem? If you're using wide apeeture and close distance, it'll be harder to get the focus right. These are the basics when you're using point and shoot or phone camera with no manual focus control. QUOTE(KTCY @ Mar 22 2011, 10:55 AM) Try Capture NX and see. You can save back to .NEF Saving it, yes. Name sake only. But whether it saves all data that was captured originally? Don't think so.QUOTE(KTCY @ Mar 22 2011, 11:11 AM) RAW in LR can even change to D2X color profile I believe that's some sort of calibrated profile. Sort of reverse engineering.QUOTE(scotty @ Mar 22 2011, 11:13 AM) anyone here got 14-24 f2.8? Yes.QUOTE(scotty @ Mar 22 2011, 11:13 AM) do u find the zooming ring abit hard to turn at 20 -24mm? mind very hard to turn. like got some sort of lock I'm quite pleased with mine. Perhaps it needs some lubrication service.QUOTE(ifer @ Mar 22 2011, 11:13 AM) Capture one manage to extract more micro detail from you photo. and of course the colour profile of other cameras thingy. The best conversion you get from Nikon's NEF is still from Capture NX2 unfortunately.try to find a copy. you will be amaze what your camera and lens can show (details) that you seemed not to be able to see with NX and camera raw QUOTE(SIWIS @ Mar 22 2011, 11:37 AM) I set single point AF. I want to capture a close up object with one color. I suspect you may have reached and pass the limit of the minimum focusing distance (MFD) of the lens. What lens are you using? How close are you to the subject?Anyone know how to stop Nikon D3100 camera autofocus while holding snap picture button halfway? Camera just dont want capture picture and keep focus in and out.
