QUOTE(mzaidi @ Mar 21 2007, 11:59 AM) According to benchmarks I read online, the performance increase will only be noticeable if you have 512MB RAM (or less) installed on your PC. There's little performance increase on 1GB & 2GB system, and no performance increase at all if you have 4GB of RAM. uhh okay, nowonder, then actually quite useless loh readyboost. coz vista users normall have 1gb ram and above. On Gamespot.com, there actually a decrease in performance if you set your ReadyBoost size to 4GB. |

QUOTE(raist86 @ Mar 22 2007, 01:23 AM) i'm having a prob with it. Every once in a while (ie 10 mins, sometimes 30 mins) my hard disk activity jumps to an insane amount to the point everything slows down. Movie becomes still frames pictures.. This happens when i have new files on the computer (ie download stuff from torrents). Is this normal or is it because some program is running? checked the performance monitor and it shows my harddisk activity at 100% and it's usually one file that's being access the most. KAV does not show any antivirus scan running and there's no virus detected on the pc. What software do u use? Face the same problem as i was using Azerues ( it was hogging my system due to heavy utilisation of Java ). The problem had since gone away after i switch to none Java programs,..ie uTorrent. |

I think without 1 GB, dont even think of trying it |

Added on March 23, 2007, 12:42 amand honestly, do you know that comma (,) and period (.) are created for a reason and not just for show. I really hate when ppl post something without using both of that and expecting us, the reader, to understand it This post has been edited by linkinstreet: Mar 23 2007, 12:42 AM |

it's not the torrent program that's causing the excessive harddisk access..
i've check resource monitor and apparently it's svchost that's accessing my harddisk. It's reading files randomly and causing the hangups. |

QUOTE(raist86 @ Mar 23 2007, 01:19 AM) it's not the torrent program that's causing the excessive harddisk access.. ok...svchost is a thing where windows use to group several services together, which means each svchost contains a few or more services, i've check resource monitor and apparently it's svchost that's accessing my harddisk. It's reading files randomly and causing the hangups. when u look at the resource>disk monitor , under the svchost, exe, you look at the file location, does most of them coming from ur downloading file? If thats so, you might need to check the settings of uTorrent have you update the AV and firewall? coz theres possbility that some malwares are doing its work quietly theres some ways to look for what the actual services are being covered by each svchost, by opening windows defender, look for currently running programs, or u can use command prompt for more info, click this link http://www.computerhaven.info/svchost.htm This post has been edited by dattebayo: Mar 23 2007, 02:30 AM |
