I’m a working adult aged 30 this year, with biology background working in pharmaceutical industry as marketing.
I always thought I chose the wrong path, because I love architecture, design, urban planning and interior stuff.
I understand it would be kinda late to start from zero with Part 1 architecture degree at this age. What other part time degree I may consider if those mentioned are my interest?
Allow me to chip in, if you want to make architecture your career, or have further progression as an architect, remember that the 'fun' designing part is only 10% of what architects do. The rest of the time we deal with
- laws and regulations
- coordination with other consultants
- dealing with difficult clients and/or their unknowledgeable project managers
- costs, suppliers, products
- producing boring but necessary drawings for construction
- BQ, contracts (especially when the QS amend the standard contracts to set up so many traps, you have to read through all of them)
- payments (or sometimes nonpayments)
- lobby for projects and running a business + managing a practice (if you are owner/partner/director)
