Seriously, consider Tae Gong Gak. The owner, Sylvia, is just lovely. There is no other word to describe her friendliness, fluent English, very informative, superb networking through out the island. She is like your mother, except she is Korean hehe. I've stayed there, she bought the air ticket for me, since I didnt know how to navigate thru the Hangul website. Free breakfast, free flow of basic food at the kitchen.

During my stay in Jeju, believe it or not, bus was my only transportation. Cheap and the perfect way to mingle with everyone at the island. How did I manage to travel just by using the local bus? Sylvia is the answer.

I ate only great food over there, all because of the owner recommendation. Going there again this September, and already she has given me a discount on the room. Where in the world would you find this kind of hospitality?

Yes, I did use the free shuttle bus which the boarding destination is at Gwanghwamun Donghwa duty free shop

Well, in Jeonju, the hanok village is the top priority but you can pretty much covered it within 2 hours. Then you can opt to go to the stree of youth/ film street to see/buy some stuff in the night ( the night light pole isnt that bad after all)

Then in the morning you can probably do some hiking to Han Bik Lou ( direct translation from mandarin).. but skip dongga-sa unless u really really have some trained up leg muscle ( I accomplished it)

Then in the afternoon you can probably visit one of the good bimbimbap shop as Jeonju is famous for it while waiting 5 pm bus back to seoul

P/S : Back to seoul now and still looking for some kaki for makan session... =P

Ah yep, the price is slightly higher but still among the cheapest. But for me, it is truly value for money. End of September on the 26th.

You can rent car, scooter, bike, private taxi, private van, but using bus will save your wallet big time.

Ah sorry, I dont have one. Since I have used only bus to travel around there. But for taxi rental with driver, you need to pay around 60k Won and must pay for the driver's lunch if I am not mistaken.

Some forumer from the south korea v1 thread did rent a van. You can search at the previous thread because I dont remember who.

60k Won for half of the day. I think full day would cost you 90k Won. Majority of the drivers speak very little English, but they will try to explain using their super broken english so you will understand. Very cute hehe. There is one guy, by the name of Goh-hyung (he didnt want me to call him ahjussi), very popular among tourist. He's a perfect driver/tourist guide. But you have to book him early since he is booked almost everyday. There was one time, he was booked for 17days straight by a family from Sweden to show them around Jeju.

But dont be fooled, there are drivers who would take you around for 120k Won. Jeju is divided into 4 district and if you want him to travel cross-boundary, you have to pay extra. So 120k Won + extra. So when you book, be really clear of where you want to go. Tell him, the places that you want to go and ask them the price before hand.

Hi everyone! =) I'm going to Korea next month for 3 weeks =) All 3 of us are girls and this is our first time backpacking XD I'd appreciate some input on my rough itinerary coz I've been bogged down with work up until now to plan in detail hehe.. We're going to couch surf so accommodation-wise we're covered =) This is my rough itinerary:

Friday, 1st july: Arrive at Korea, 9pm+++ going to spend the night at the airport coz we don't wanna trouble my Korean friend's parents.

2-6th/7th: Seoul

6th/7th-9th: Head to Busan aboard KTO's free shuttle bus(if we get the tickets XD)

10-12th: Gyeongju/Jeonju

13th: Head back to Seoul(If we get the free shuttle bus ticket). Spend 2 days there. Prolly spend 1 whole day in Nami Island lol~

15-18th: Gangwondo

19-22nd: Seoul =) Our flight back to Malaysia is on Friday night.. =)

We've done our research and all but haven't decided where to go in detail haha.. Everything is sorta swimming in our heads but by next week we'd like to finalize our detailed itinerary.

p/s: Would ₩ 45,000 be enough daily? We're breaking it down to;
-> ₩ 10k Admission fees to tourist places, ₩ 20k food, ₩ 15k transport.

Since we're Muslims basically we'll be eating kimbap/bread and serunding brought from malaysia most of the time haha.. We'll prolly eat Korean/tasty food once a day XD

Any input is greatly appreciated =)

Added on June 18, 2011, 9:23 amMat salleh are not like Asians. Their holiday can stretch to 2 months and some spend 2-3 weeks at one place. Doing nothing just lazing around. My customer spend 03 weeks in Nexus Karambunai in Kota Kinabalu. I asked them, what were you guys doing there for 3 weeks. They went for swimming, sun bathing and reading books by the beach or just snoozed at the beach.
