Oh!! Man!!! I hate sharing toilet with strangers.
Any recommendation?? I'm looking at Hongik University area. QUOTE(sophistafunk @ Mar 12 2011, 07:01 PM) Hi Listiani, This post has been edited by Listiani: Mar 14 2011, 12:24 AMThey only have shared bathroom.. even for double-bed rooms, we have to use the bathroom outside. In StayKorea II, there are two bathrooms - downstairs and upstairs. 2 dorms and 1 single bed room downstairs; 2 dorms and 2 double bed rooms upstairs. Even though bathrooms are shared, they are very clean. No dirt no stains etc. They installed air fresheners so no foul smell too.. lol. One thing though, you have to bring your own towels and toiletries. |

Dear Sophie,
Thank you very much for your input. I'll chk around at the Ehwa U area. Sound interesting especially shopping QUOTE(sophistafunk @ Mar 14 2011, 09:39 AM) I have few but most have shared bathrooms http://www.kimsguesthouse.com/eng/intro.html http://hongdaeguesthouse.com/index.php http://www.guesthouseinkorea.com/eng_intro http://www.annguesthouse.co.kr/ http://www.namugh.co.kr/ http://www.bluguesthouse.com/index.php http://www.heybackpackers.com/index.html I saw a guesthouse in Ewha Women Univ area which I found thru internet before my trip but I can't remember the name now.. arghh.. I recommend staying there cos of the massive shops around and cheap food. It's much more alive than the places around Hongik Univ. You can try to search around for hostels around Ewha. Reviews on Ewha area: http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Asia/..._Area-BR-1.html There aren't a lot of stuff to see or shop around in Hongik area but a lot more to see in Ewha. It's only 2 subway stops between these two: Hongik - Sinchon - Ewha. Both are actually located near to each other and it's possible to walk from one point to the other. When you're visiting/staying in Ewha, don't forget to visit the lifestyle store called Kosney - cute stuff, facial products, stationery, home products and even vintage goods too! http://www.kosney.co.kr/ksn/pm/shop/PMProd...il?PC=MALL_MAIN Added on March 14, 2011, 9:42 amSpring is in early April... |

From my experience, it is not the shopping mall but our local bank credit card. Maybank offer better rates than my RHB Credit card everytime I go overseas and using my CC to purchase items. I have terminate my RHB Credit Card because the RHB doesn't seems offer good rates and no goodies for loyal and good paymaster customer unlike Maybank.

Laila, my sisters and I plan to visit Korea somewhere in October. Can you pls kindly post the contact for the van and Hiking Inn accommodation? Perhaps their website link??
Thank you QUOTE(laily enelya @ Mar 22 2011, 08:27 PM) Oopss sorry for the late reply. Here's a summary of my trip. 1st day Arrived at Incheon at night. Slept there.Quite cold. 2nd & 3rd day Took the Arex to Gimpo airport. Fly to Jeju for 2 days (not enough!). Stayed at Hiking Inn and rented a van with a driver for the 2 days. The owner, Kevin was very nice, and the van driver, Mr Kim was super nice! He took us to beautiful places around Jeju. 4th day The real adventure begins on this day. Carrying the huge bagpack up and down the subways. Went to Nami island. The scenery was nice but only the Winter Sonata fanatics would love to come here.Took a bus to Sokcho and stayed at The House Hostel. The owner,Mr. Yun was also super nice! Gave us a detailed map of Sokcho and told us about the interesting places even though we arrived at this house at midnight. 5th day Went to Mount Sorak. Sad because the cable car was closed due to string wind. 6th day Went to Namsan Tower,jalan-jalan at Namdaemun,Dongdaemun, Jewel Park(if I'm not mistaken) and bought a lot of accessories. Just sightseeing. Bought souvenirs at Doota. 7th day Went to Hanok village. Also to Itaewon to visit the mosque there. Last minute shopping before going back to KL. All in all,my trip cost me RM2000 including the flights. We saved a lot on food and accomodation. T-money also really cut down our spending. |

Thank you Rsalf & Laila. I have chk out their website. I have email to Yeha tour too. It seems that Hiking Inn is cheaper. The plus point for Hiking Inn is, they have tradtional Korean room. I would very much want to try it. My sister too

Wow!! Sophie. Seriously, I didn't know that. Why no plastic or electronic equipment on the floor?? Is that including Handphone?? I normally like to put my handphone next to the pillow when I sleep.

Oh!! man!! so where should I put my handphone then?? The heated floor is actually to make them feel warm isn't it?? Wonder why feel stuffy inside??
QUOTE(sophistafunk @ Apr 3 2011, 10:39 PM) Yes, it will damage the electronics (handphones too) if you put them on the heated floor overnight or for days. Actually when I was in South Korea, slept on bed but with heated floor, I felt stuffy and dehydrated even though I wasn't even sleeping on the floor. So my advice is to always put a glass of water on the table if you're staying in a room with heated floor |

Sophie,Laila. Pls give me their website link. I read in the earlier post that we need local code to book domestic flight in Korea. Really puzzle and doesn't make sense to me but somehow several forumers agree to this statement.
QUOTE(sophistafunk @ Apr 5 2011, 11:22 PM) I took Air Busan for RM200 return flight (Gimpo-Jeju-Busan). Maybe depending on how early you book but that time Air Busan was cheaper than Eastar Jet. This post has been edited by Listiani: Apr 6 2011, 08:27 AMI registered Asiana, Air Busan and Easter as member online to book the tickets.. cos they only allow members to view the fares.. |

Agree with sophie. My apartment cleaner is an old auntie (maybe around 55 yrs old) can still speak broken english. I doubt she can write english but hey!! everybody understand her broken english even my vet. She's German expat in Malaysia. But if Korean can't understand as what Sophie's statement, then they are supposed to be at the bottom not one rank below us.

Poor Im Ju Hwan
OK, need help from fellow forumers. Below are my intended programme. Pls fee free to help me to adjust and give some recommendation on what we should add or remove. Tks Day 01 Arrive Incheon at 0710hrs. Take train to the guesthouse at Ewha Woman's University area. Chk in and rest. Around 12pm go to Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, Namsan Seoul Tower and shopping at Namdaemun Market. Day 02 Visit Royal Tomb of Joseon Dynasty, Suwon Hwaseong Fortress. Day 03 Gimpo Airpot to Jeju do Day 04 In Jeju Day 05 Jeju/Seoul. Shopping at Myeong Deong, Insadong, Itaewon Day 06 Korea Folk Village and Everland. Day 07 Free Day 08 Free Day 09 Return to KL in the morning. QUOTE(fraulein @ Apr 9 2011, 04:49 PM) I was expecting to see a lot of leng chai too but maybe I missed the night spots and pubs so didn't manage to see much. The only leng chai I saw is one that jaga the subway station guy, I forgot which station, maybe Chungmuro station. Jang Geun Seuk & Lee Min Ho is everywhere you turned but ONLY... on t shirts, posters, ads and even on stockings.. My poor favourite Im Ju Hwan only got his face at STCO outlet. My hubby is the untung one, can see so many leng luis. Ho... any radiation spotted in Seoul on that day? I was at Nami Island and got a lot of rain on me too.. When I was coming back yesterday, weather was getting better and I only need to wear my cardigan. But still, better bring a thick, wind resistant type jacket. Anyone going back to Msia using AirasiaX, please make sure you ate dinner and bought everything you need before heading for Incheon airport. All the shops in Incheon closed at 9 pm. Can anyone tell me what's the normal working hour for Seoulites? I can't help wondering why there's a lot of people heading to work at 10 am and by 4.30 pm all office guy and lady were all over the street. I thought Koreans are one of the nations that have the longest working hour. |
