Hi guys

Ill be going on a backpacker trip alone to Korea this mid July;
Need some info while I'm in the process of planning my itinerary

1. I need to be connected 24/7, where can I rent a phone with unlimited 3G data surfing using the iPhone? Mainly use for navigation n informing family of my whereabouts.

2. I have 6 days: shud I head out of Seoul to other towns? If so, which town would u highly recommend?

3. Is traveling alone in Korea generally safe for a female?

4. Also is bus & transportation an issue? English signs available?

How do u guys navigate ur way in Korea? I heard that street names r all in Korean? No English letters?

Lastly; anyone going mid of July backpacking too? Don't mind a travel buddy

Cheers

Reporting from Seoul;

Airasia got delayed for 1/2 hr yesterday, by the time I reached Incheon; collect baggage etc the last bus has left.

So for those catching the bus; just do a time check.

Phone rental info:-
user posted image
check out S Roaming. I rented a phone not because I need to make calls; it's because I need "unlimited INTERNET access". It's the only carrier I know that provides unlimited 3G data. Total cost for my 6days rental is 49,280won. Not bad I would say. U can download any free apps from the market. So whatsapp; Facebook, maps, iTourSeoul is available.

Raining cats & dogs here; forget sun block. Umbrella is a MUST!!. It has not stopped raining since I arrived last night. Ruined all outdoor plans to visit the palaces n buckhon. Ended up in the National Museum and the Malls @Yongsan

Recommend Zaza Backpackers, very nice clean big n spacious room.
I stayed @single ensuite but was given room with 2bunk beds. A roof top room too

Zaza backpackers is right smack @Myeongdong. & 10mins walk uphill to Namsam cable car.

One thing I really liked; is it's electronic door lock. Set ur own pin number n u r good to go. No worries of loosing room key.

Its these backpackers are like those sharing rooms with strangers & shared bathroom?
*
I stayed in a single/twin/double ensuite.
I had the whole room and private bathroom to myself.
http://zazabackpackers.com
Zaza Backpackers is more like either: Single, Double or Family.
All of which have own private bathroom.
I dont think there's a DORM type room with strangers in Zaza.
55,000won per nite (peak rate)

I've also stayed at another place called BangRang Hostel.
It is cheaper; but my single room was really tiny (tatami style) and shared bathroom. Though very nice exterior Korean traditional style hostel
I cant get pass the idea of shared bathroom; they r generally not so clean...u know left over @#*$&@( from other ppl
32,000won per nite (peak rate)

Ok u get what u paid for~ smile.gif

Hi people,

I am going to Korea on 4-11/Aug/2011. It's kinda last minutes planning as I wanted to attend a concert there. So, everything is in a rush now. I'm still scouting for places to stay and where to go. I am still unable to decide whether I should go our from Seoul or just venture around Seoul? I have 7 days (4/Aug/2011, I arrived night time and 11/Aug/2011, I return night time).

I'm looking for accommodation in at the level of guesthouse or backpackers lodge. Can someone suggest some nice, clean, affordable accommodation and itinerary? Should I go out from Seoul or if 7 days too long for Seoul?

I have checked out Seoul Backpackers, Namu and Bebop so far, but due to short of time, I really hope that I can hear from you people who have been there.

I had the same Question as u. "Should i go out from Seoul during my 7days trip in Seoul"

I ended up staying in Seoul for the whole week. Dont hafta rush with time. Wake up 10am everyday stroll and walk leisurely.

hi guys, i am going to Busan for 4 days during the chinese new year.
Guess it will be freezing cold.

Id like to know if its worth to go to Jeju for a 1 day trip? As my days are limited

Monday: Arrive Busan 8:40pm
Tues:
Wed:
Thurs: Fly to jeju early morning, back next day afternoon?
Fri: Depart Busan 9:40pm

Practically i have only 2 days in Busan(Tues,Wed)

Its a really short break.
Please advise; if i shud just stay in Busan or make the round trip to Jeju.
Checked the flights: return will cost me about 400+rm

Hey Guys,~!!

I need help with BUSAN~ i going this mid January during winter.

A few OUT OF THE BOX thing that i am going to try.

1. Stay in Love Motel~!!
2. Stay in Jimjilbang(Spa)

Anyone stayed in Love Motel before?
I am having difficulty trying to book a love motel. The only website portal that i have found it http://www.hotel365.co.kr/
But it is all in korean. Can anyone who can read KOREAN help~?

I have 3-4 days in Busan, plz advise
What is the MUST SEE list in BuSAn?

Jalgachi fish market - Yes a must go, and im going to go for the seafood buffet

Haundea beach ?
What is interesting there? from my research, its kinda just a beach with full of ppl. It seems to look like SURFERS PARADISE in Gold Coast to me? I have a feeling that island beaches like Redang, Perhentian has more potential?

Which area do you think i should stay, that is more central to everything?
Im more into the local markets, flee market, fish market. Anyone has any recommended hostels/backpackers place?

If you're going to Haeundae beach, nvr miss the aquarium. the entrance is on the beach and the aquarium is under the sea brows.gif

There's also a shooting range around 2~3kms from there. it's quite expensive. i went there on 2005 and it costs 60K won for one round. but they have a wide range of weapons you can try

Elsewhere in Pusan, you can go to Taejong-dae especially if you're into photography.
http://www.paulsimon4u.com.ne.kr/psmp/dpyt.htm
For accommodation, it depends on what kind of place you're looking for. if you're looking for a motel/hotel that's central to everything, try to look around in Jung-gu or Seo-myeon (where subway line 1 and 2 meet). if you want my recommendations:
Vesta Sauna, Hauendae - the view of Haeundae beach from here is just AMAZING!
Indy House - Indy is the owner, such a nice guy. You can chat with other guests while playing pool. And there're two Univ nearby brows.gif
Motel Elysee, Nampo - two stops away from Pusan-yeok. The owner speaks very good english (iamsonsh@gmail.com)
Besides Haeundae, Pusan is nothing compared to Seoul (and the pubs closed at 3 am  sweat.gif )
*
Thanks for the info, will check them out.

Hmmm...so seriously no one stayed at a LOVE MOTEL before? i mean really flashy type
