QUOTE(sophistafunk @ Apr 11 2011, 11:17 PM) During our stay, we were taught to say "chu seyo" when asking for stuff. For example, "pap, chu seyp", "ramen, tu geh, chu seyo". Tu geh = two bowls (correct ah?) and chu seyo is more or less like "give me" in formal, courteous way. Chuseyo/Juseyo comes from the word Juda (주다), which is "to give".So I guess "chu seyo" can win smiles and open doors to friendship And "seyo" is a informal polite ending form, it doesn't mean anything on it's own. But in this case it means "please". Koreans like it when foreigners use informal polite form endings with them. It means you respect them and they'll respect you back. And yea.. Du geh means 2 objects. Du means 2 and geh is an object counter (like for example 2 'pieces' of paper/ 2 cups of water). So yep~ spot on, like you said.. "bab du geh juseyo" woud mean give me 2 bows of rice please. |

QUOTE(Listiani @ Apr 11 2011, 01:27 PM) Poor Im Ju Hwan Depends on what time you arrived back from Jeju, if you'll be in Seoul only by evening, better put Insadong and Itaewon to another day.OK, need help from fellow forumers. Below are my intended programme. Pls fee free to help me to adjust and give some recommendation on what we should add or remove. Tks Day 01 Arrive Incheon at 0710hrs. Take train to the guesthouse at Ewha Woman's University area. Chk in and rest. Around 12pm go to Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, Namsan Seoul Tower and shopping at Namdaemun Market. Day 02 Visit Royal Tomb of Joseon Dynasty, Suwon Hwaseong Fortress. Day 03 Gimpo Airpot to Jeju do Day 04 In Jeju Day 05 Jeju/Seoul. Shopping at Myeong Deong, Insadong, Itaewon Day 06 Korea Folk Village and Everland. Day 07 Free Day 08 Free Day 09 Return to KL in the morning. How about slotting in Nami Island? We enjoyed there a lot. We ta pao a lot of food and had picnic there, but there's a few restaurants if you don't wanna ta pao. Just check on whether it's going to rain or not on that day. You can take a bus from Insadong to Nami Island. The fee is 23,000 per person for return trip inclusive ferry fee. But time is only 9.30am and come back at 4pm. Not sure if you wanna go 2 palaces or not. I highly anticipated Gyeongbokgung but when I visited, I got bored very quickly. Unlike other nation that decorates their palaces with grandeur and collections, Gyeongbokgung is very simple (Confucianism concept). Not sure about the palace museum though cause it's close on the day I visit. Namdaemun is better to go in the early morning when there's less crowd but all shops are open. By evening, some of the shops are closed already except the food streets. If you like skincare and cosmetic, you'll be spending a lot of time in Myeongdong. I myself went back there 3 times. BTW, don't miss out Lotte Young Plaza. They have promotions at their Ground level and I managed to get a good and cheap trench coat there. If you stay in betwen this two areas or even either the 2 areas, Everyday you can shop there.
Well, Namdaemun is something like our pasar pagi/pasar malam or even you can call it Petaling st lor, everything there inclusive of clothes, souvenirs, food, daily essential, and wet market. Myeongdong is Nite Market - can be also like Petaling st too combining street stalls, restaurants, pubs & also side shops - Those shops mostly cosmestic..repetitive similar stores everywhere haha.. Dondaemun - Mostly Fashion & cloth market esp on the other side of Cheongyecheong stream after Dota dept stor. Super long massive 2-3 storeys plaza of clothing & fashion. Insadong - Souvenirs - but abit pricey than Namdaemun 9Can skip) |

I think I'll choose Dondaemum and Myeong Dong. Skip Namdaemun. Our accommodation is near Ehwa Women University.
