when we rent iphone there, can we download the application like translator, facebook, twitter etc or we're only allowed to use whatever application has been installed in the phone? Am thinking to rent one via KT.. And does the iphone's map application works fine in Korea??

originally intend to activate my internet roaming for my iphone, but since my tenure is less than 6 months with digi has to pay some deposit which will only be returned to me 2 months later (after 6 months tenure)... aahhh.. (is it because they are afraid i will never return to Malaysia??)

I was at Yongshan 2 days ago. Nothing much there and the price is not that cheap also. I think LowYat would have more choice and reasonable price.

Hi. Can anybody tell me which hotel shud I stay in Myeongdong?
Budget is less than RM200 a night.

If you don't mind the really cheap version of motel, try Gyerim Motel. I stayed there for a week and just got back 2 days ago. It was quite pleasant and cozy, 45,000 won (<RM135) for 2 person (bed / floor heating room).

The best thing, is that its only like <5 mins walk to Myeongdong MRT station (exit no3)

When I got the iPhone, I downloaded facebook and photobucket. No problem. There's a map application in the iPhone but since it's all in Korean, I didn't use it. Another useful application that's already in the iPhone itself is the iSeoul Tour. My friend told me it's quite useful but I didn't use it much because you need to get into Wifi or 3G to access, and not every place have free Wifi. 3G charges is expensive. Remember to off the 3G setting once you got the iPhone. I kena charged 23,000 won for 3G. Only KT has iPhone, SK don't have.

You can go to this website and print the coupon for 50% discount on the rental. coupon service

If you're not planning to make calls, why not stick to your own iPhone? You can download the iSeoul Tour from website. Just access Wifi once they're available. But this is according to my iPhone user friend who went to Korea in Feb la... I myself still couldn't afford to fork out an iPhone yet. cry.gif

Wifi is available at Namsan Tower area, Insadong and most of the subway station. Jongno 3 ga has the best speed, I uploaded picture from there every day.

thanks for the tips.. the reason why i want to rent iphone there is because i want to use these 2 applications, which is hooked to the internet:
1) translator --> (in case i got blur talking with the locals)
2) map --> gps (in case get lost)

oooo ...itu mcm ka..

another question to ask, since i am going to korea in a big group, 9 persons (5 adults + 4 kids, 2 family mine and my sister), do we need the T-money card for every single of us? is it worth to use 2 taxi to move around or just stick to MRT?

planned to bring strollers as well for the kids

Yes everyone in the family need T-money but for those small children <3yr old, you can "hand carried" mah biggrin.gif so those can skip the card.

Each usage within certain KM radious probably ~ 1 to 8 stations away, only 900won. And for nxt level of destination ~ 1200won (correct me if I'm wrong)..So for shorter distance, yes hiring a cab will be cheaper but for far end distance - MRT still better.

Their public transport is very very very reliable. Cheap too. If you are talking about Seoul that is. So yeah, go for public transport
