anyways, from what i read above, you state that you are planning to get from the sony centre. think you shud, that way you dont have to worry about anything. if you want, you can find sellers on garage sales>games. saw a few trusted seller there.
ylod mostly happens on the phat ps3, not so often on the slim ones. not sure if its covered under warranty. urmm ori games can b saved on the hdd only if you download them on the PSN store, not transfer it from the bluray that you purchased.

Buy either the Malaysia set (around RM 1200+) or SG Set (around RM 1100). You can get from some of the dealers here if you're concern from buying retail. Most of them can COD for you, and normally they would carry both MY or SG set. Myself prefer MY because don't want to go to SG to claim warranty or ask the dealer to handle it. Although my PS3 got no problem for 2 years so probably could have save around hundred bucks if buy SG set (all PS3 got 1 year warranty but MY got free additional 3 months though not sure if promo is over).

Good choice. Either Luke (from Impulse) or Steve (from Playzone) should carry MY sets. Best get from them because Sony Centres follow the Retail price but Luke / Steve should be able to discount a bit and maybe give u a free cable or something. They're still MY set coz u need to register online for the warranty anyways, or just keep the receipt.

i'll look forward tu buy from one of them...i prefer to buy other from sony centre becoz they are more flexible on price and maybe i can get accessories for lower price...

All PS3s are the same. Is just where you can claim warranty from because there is no international warranty. Even the Malaysia set, you can change language to other international languages so there is basically no difference.

sony center lg cheap??i thought the forumers here selling cheaper??last i checked a ps3 at sony center costs about 1.3k some thing...i think here you can get rm50 or so cheaper.

Actually the most sony center can give/discount is rm50....like 320gb for rm1249....sumthing like that....

In a way this is true also. Sony got 2 different types of centers. One is Sony Style / Sony Direct where Sony owns the stores. THe other are dealers who are authorized exclusive Sony outlets (eg franchise style). My PS3 was also bought from there (before I came to know Lowyat stuff), and while the price was RM 1299, they gave me I think LBP free and Uncharted 2 at around RM 100 (2 years ago yeah).

So I guess they can sell cheaper, give discount or free games as well, especially those dealers. For me the other important thing was pay by Credit Card with no surcharge .

other than using a storage media, like thumbdrive or hard disk, is there any other ways to backup save files? to backup, i just copy the save files to the storage media, right?

u can use the backup utility feature in System Setting.but take note take some savegames are copy-protected.so,the only way to back-up transfer is by using Cloud Save system but it only for PS+ tho

argh~ hopefully games that i play aren't copy-protected. btw, if i'm not mistaken, console can read our save file from our storage medias, right?


Another question, if i would like to change the video setting, as in the current setting is HDTV setting and i wanna change it to SDTV setting, i just need to hold the Power On button for like approx. 10 seconds until the second beep sound, and the console will automatically change the setting corresponding to my TV, right?

one user is lock to only one PSN ID. when you want to create a new PSN ID, u need to create a new user as well...

is there a zombie game for ps3 like L4D2 for xbox...?

1 PS3 = 16 Console Users
1 Console Users = 1 PSN User Account (single/shared)
1 PSN Account (shared) = 5 different PS3
1 unique PS3 = 16 Console Users = 16 PSN Accounts (single/shared)

note:
single: you create the account urself, buy games, top up psn credit etc n don't share with other PS3 (people)
shared: you or somebody created the PSN account...maximum number of sharers are 5 people (5 different PS3s). Need to activate the account to use and deactivate (not needed but advisable) if u decided to remove the PSN account.

most of the time, contents you downloaded from different PSN accounts can be cross shared among other console users in a single PS3. eg: u have 1 main console user registered with 1 MY PSN (A). later u decide with your brother to buy contents from US PSN (B). so u created a new user account and use same US PSN (B) shared with your brother. this is called the shared PSN account. let say u download a game titled Infamous with US PSN (B) account, this game Infamous can now play be played on the main MY PSN (A) although you bought it with US PSN (B).
Also do take note some PSN contents like Singstar cannot be cross-shared and is locked to one unique PSN account.

if u have one active MY account, and wanted to buy something from US PSN Store, go ahead a create a new console user and register a US PSN user. yes you need to input a US address+postcode (google it). Choose you state wisely as some you need to pay the TAX, and some state you don't have to pay the TAX
