can you access ps3 recovery menu?

i have changed my old hard disk to Seagate Momentus XT 500GB last week. currently all working well. but what scares me is after reading terryfu posts and making some web search on the net, stating that there is lot of issues with this specific hard disk.
hopefully i wont be the one next and praying that it was some rare instances.

What does a platinum mean? I'm planning to buy FFXIII but got 2 version, one is normal want and another want is platinum version.

i choose ps3 over xbox 360 becoz i heard xbox easily get rrod than ylod for ps3...
and i don't need to pay to play online...
to download game from PSN is there any charge...

i will consider to purchased Malaysia set rather than SG set although i'm in JB...i think it will easier to claim warranty or other...

i'll look forward tu buy from one of them...i prefer to buy other from sony centre becoz they are more flexible on price and maybe i can get accessories for lower price...

Actually the most sony center can give/discount is rm50....like 320gb for rm1249....sumthing like that....

but i bought my 160gb from sony centre for rm1150, discount rm89.....hehe

1 PS3 = 16 Console Users
1 Console Users = 1 PSN User Account (single/shared)
1 PSN Account (shared) = 5 different PS3
1 unique PS3 = 16 Console Users = 16 PSN Accounts (single/shared)

note:
single: you create the account urself, buy games, top up psn credit etc n don't share with other PS3 (people)
shared: you or somebody created the PSN account...maximum number of sharers are 5 people (5 different PS3s). Need to activate the account to use and deactivate (not needed but advisable) if u decided to remove the PSN account.

most of the time, contents you downloaded from different PSN accounts can be cross shared among other console users in a single PS3. eg: u have 1 main console user registered with 1 MY PSN (A). later u decide with your brother to buy contents from US PSN (B). so u created a new user account and use same US PSN (B) shared with your brother. this is called the shared PSN account. let say u download a game titled Infamous with US PSN (B) account, this game Infamous can now play be played on the main MY PSN (A) although you bought it with US PSN (B).
Also do take note some PSN contents like Singstar cannot be cross-shared and is locked to one unique PSN account.

if u have one active MY account, and wanted to buy something from US PSN Store, go ahead a create a new console user and register a US PSN user. yes you need to input a US address+postcode (google it). Choose you state wisely as some you need to pay the TAX, and some state you don't have to pay the TAX

i didnt expected it to be japanese version. just that its apparently the 'special edition' for AC brotherhood. like the red cover anyways. hmm how do i know whether the gameplay is in english or not?

hye guys, noob here. want to ask pro here.
in january i buy ps3 MY set. i never played my ps3 online. within tis past week, i bring my ps3 to ofc and get my ps3 system updated (v3.70) for the first time n ps3 photo also. no problem in downloading those two...
however, when i want to sign up wit PSN using ps3, (it been 15x i've tried it since last week), i cannot sign in. "the connection to the server timed out"
fyi, im using wireless connection from my ofc and no prob surfing the internet from the ps3.
im try to sign up PSN via PC but failed "Site Maintenance Notice, The server is currently down for maintenance. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try again later"
