Hmm, I thought that upgrading PS3 HDD should be no problems but after searching the net I also scared sweat.gif

I read somewhere that for WD drives you need to run a program "wdidle3.exe" to disable the WD IntelliPark??

Yeah for majority is no problem, but still got a lot of people with problems after upgrade HDD...so I think need to put disclaimer before recommending people to upgrade their HDD.

i have changed my old hard disk to Seagate Momentus XT 500GB last week. currently all working well. but what scares me is after reading terryfu posts and making some web search on the net, stating that there is lot of issues with this specific hard disk. sweat.gif
hopefully i wont be the one next and praying that it was some rare instances.

Yeah, only 6 months in and got this stupid problem. I think its a matter of play style too. I play quite long hours, and very fast (eg when game is still being saved, I already mess around or move to another save point, etc.). My guess is with hybrid drive, part of the data is saved at the cache and the constant activity screwed it up.

Having said that, when I read the seagate forums, I noticed got firmware upgrades and quite a few issues pertaining to how the HDD reads between the solid state portion and the regular hard drive portion.

Now I intend to claim a new drive, and get a separate momentus (normal) 5400 rpm drive. Hopefully it does not feel slower than what I experienced.

Platinum means it is repackaged to say that it is a best seller product. The whole thing is the same just different packaging. Most people prefer the original packaging (sometimes refer to as black label).
